Well in US mayby u right but here in EU where people still drive more diesel cars than gasoline ones I would say X-TYPE not so bad at all I bought my X-TYPE wagon (estate) with 2. 2l 155hp diesel engine one year ago. Ofc I bought with some problems but it's not expensive to fix fuel tank sensor and some other small things few weeks ago I changed wearn out alternator and also all tensioning pulleys as well as belt cus it was not in best shape that's it. Now I planing before winter change oil with filters. A lot of people when buying a car don't know these days what they buy so don't believe in others opinion Untill u check the real thing by ur self. For ex. My dad bought dodge journey Europe version not US with 2. 0l diesel engine and other people sed that my dad crazy he should better buy a Volkswagen or audi cus these cars are made in EU but the thing is that the dodge have Volkswagen diesel engine and gearbox in stock and it's not a engine swap or something like that so that are real example. And Scotty if u read it to the end I could say mb u right about these cars but here in Europe people also have option to drive diesel cars that usually are better than gasoline ones. So if u watch and inspect ur car in right way not like others who not change oil in their cars or break pads and just wait for car axident or car break down.

A SAAB 9-7x is actually a GM built in Moraine, Ohio. GM built it on the same platform in the same plant as the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, Oldsmobile Bravada, and Buick Rainier. Unlike SAAB cars built in Europe, 9-7x is only cosmetically a SAAB. Parts should be as available as for any of those other GM brands. With the 9-7x GM finally got SAAB to accept some badge engineering.
That said, except for the brief bankruptcy period, I ve had no problems getting parts for my European SAAB cars to this day. Parts was the one part of the SAAB brand that was always profitable.

Gets to be a little confusing. I ve always loved Jags and love to hear when a model in a certain trim is not so bad. But I ve heard the complete opposite about the types. About five years ago, and reflective in the price, the S-type the was bad model, and the X-type was the smarter purchase for being cheaper and had a Ford engine.
So after watching this and hearing the S-type also has a Ford engine, why is X s Ford engine worse than the S s engine.
And honestly any low mile vehicle is going to be fine. So the mystery remains.

I put an oil pan gasket in one of these a while back. Had to drop the subframe, undo the steer rack, engine mount/s. Can t quite remember but I know it was oddly shaped, almost like an anvil so it wouldn t drop straight down without taking the whole car apart. I believe I even had to raise the engine a few inches so the oil pan would clear something else, then slid it out at an angle.

The X-Type was based on the Ford Mondeo or whatever those were called in the US. The S-Type is based on some US Lincoln apparently. Basically they are both Ford so I can't see why the X-Type would be particularly junky. The styling was terrible and the Ford engines are all throw-away junk, but hopefully they last a long time before they become junk.

But does it have Lucas electrics? Lucas, the Prince of Darkness.
Some years ago, Brock Yates wrote an article for The Washington Times about English electrics. He said someone acquired the original specs for Lucas equipment. The guy wanted to manufacture exact Lucas rebuilds. Yates conclusion: Why would you want to do that?

I put a battery in one of those I drove to the parts store to get the battery Man u talkin about the biggest piece of s. It only here like 40, 000 miles on it. Every time you hit a bump it felt like the whole front end was going to fall out from under that piece of s and it took the biggest battery I had ever seen.

The X and S types being Jaguar's first populist vehicles and Ford informed effort, I wonder why their attitudes toward the two models were so different? They must have phenomenal resources in Coventry, England to sort sabotage from sensibility but perhaps I misunderstand the mysteries of enforced obsolescence.

This particular Jaguar is once in a million. Most of them ARE ABSOLUTE JUNK! Just the name Jaguar will put a smile on a face of a mechanic and give him a reason to rip you off! Come on Scotty, exceptions don't change the fact that Jaguar is still a CRAPPY CAR! Most Jag owners will agree!
