Here\'s Why Broke People Buy Mercedes and Rich People Buy Cheap Cars STEPHEN: I completely agree with s scotty Mercedes and BMW and VW Audi are junker cars i have been a Mechanic for 40 year s and worked on all types of vehicles and the Audi s are the worst followed closely behind with BMW and then Mercedes, far far to much electronics to go wrong and I'm telling you this wrong it does go and big time unless you were like me and worked on cars when they first came out and as the year s go buy you learn more stuff, but these vehicles you would need to have a degree in electronics from a university hoho the parts are uber expensive and, i really don't understand why people buy these junkers, they are endless money pits as well, it's got so bad i have refused to work on them anymore, maybe working on a. Mercedes for 4 days trying to find an electrical fault maybe a broken wire half way up the vehicle, and when i finally get it sorted the customer can't believe the bill and thinks I'm ripping her, him of, when actually I'm cheap so i just tell them to take it somewhere else now, just can't be bothered putting myself through a lot of hassle to fix the bloody thing and then being told I'm to expensive so now I just tell them to trot on to someone else i can't be arsed anymore,

Scotty I own a Mercedes, two of them by the way and wont drive anything other than Mercedes. Before then I had a BMW. I dont care how much you hate German machine but to me if it is not German I am not buying. But guess what is a choice. And my cars are all in good shape because I service them and dont drive recklessly. Let's face it, we all have choices. Some like Toyota and others like Mercedes. Go around and you will find Toyotas ( by the way Lexus is Toyota's luxury line) or Lexus that are money pits. Is all about maintenance. Buy whatever you can maintain because all vehicles breaks down with age and driving styles. Story short stop promoting lexus because you own one. LEXUS IS NO WAY IN QUALITY CLOSE TO MERCEDES. Take it or leave it.

'her. possible boyfriends (plural! '
What a great day and age we live in where women have to chase and jump through hoops to get men's attention! Too bad i'm 33 now. Looks like i missed this revolution, because this sounds like something only a girl in her early 20s would be dumb enough to do. actually, I don't know of any girl (ugly or hot) that would need to do. anything, other than exist, to get men's attention, while in their early 20s, so how much of a failure at being someone with a vag, is the owner of this car, that you have to do this to get men to pay attention to you!
I can't imagine an older woman did this, plus scotty said to 'impress her possible boyfriends' meaning she already has them anyway!

Bought my wife and 05 C230. Still under warranty. Freaking blast to drive awesome fun, first name basis with the (entire) service department. 69K miles? Timing chain failure. Interference engine. KABOOM. When I lived out in Manvel I had 3 80's 300SD's the W123 and W121 were the last truly great engineer's, not bean counter's car. Old 5 cyl diesel would run on anything with the right viscosity! Transmission fluid, waste motor & aviation oil, vegetable oil, hot liquefied dog crap! Used to take them down to Helmut in the 6th ward (Now condos. When you get tired of vacationing in hell to get away from the Houston heat, drop in us in Ensenada. You will love the Yonke's (Junkyards) here.

Too many computers on the mercs and they love breaking down. Warning lights come up at the drop of a hat. You can t beat Japanese technology especially a Lexus. I ve had Lexus for the last 5 years and found them to be bullet proof. They even have a great sounding v8! Saying that I do have an E92 M3 which has been perfect and is my toy. However it s a 2011 model with only 17k kms (approx 11k miles) so that s probably why it s been perfect so far. I recently changed the tyres not because they had worn out but because of their age (were the original factory tyres) and when my mechanic drains the old oil it s still has the golden colour that was poured in at the previous service!

Years ago, I looked on autotrader, and there was at least a dozen S600's for really, really cheap! like in my price range, cheap. They all had about the same mileage too. I looked it up and they were all less than 1000 miles away from the factory recommended valve service. shocker.
Ive been in a few Mercedes' over the years and apart from the rich person stigma, they are, in fact, very comfortable cars and given how far I commute, I would LOVE to have such a comfortable cabin to sit in while I commute. However, the repair costs would negate the job entirely! Guess I will stick with my 11 year old base trim pickup.

When I worked in salvage we sold a ton of MB parts. Insane amount of modules. The AC units flew out as soon as they came in, especially for the mid to later 2000 models. I recall selling a 2008 SL AC controller for 700. Very expensive cars to maintain. And those Comand units. Oofff. A lot of dealerships wouldn't let customer's buy used ones. They refused to work on them. We would record video of the units working and some would say Oh, this units bad. No power. New ones cost thousands. Then there's the special programming, etc. You have to really want one of these cars.

Had a '03 TL. Had it's THIRD transmission rebuilt and it nearly ate it's value in rotors. More than every car I've ever owned combined. Had a 2010 TSX. 1 owner, 55k mi. Needed over 3, 000 of work after less than 2 months of ownership. VSA Modulator to be replaced with another bad from factory unit (because that's the only option. Suspension was like a kids go kart. Intermittent loss of 90% brake function. No car is bulletproof. Do your homework, turn a wrench, and drive what you like. Or drive an eco box and never open the hood. To each his own.

Sadly, people buy used cars over 100K miles from craiggyslist for 3500 to 10999. At that mileage, you WILL have major repairs (transmission, timing belt, fuel injection, AC, suspension components) which will double the purchase price of the car. That's some serious risk. You must be prepared to lose ALL your money when buying cars out of warranty over 100k miles. I have located 2 makes and models of cars that have better reliability/repair costs than most. Since I don't want to drive the prices up, I will not divulge what cars these are.

He should be using Xentry/DAS. Mercedes is easy because, if it's giving you an error just listen to it and fix it. Parts are easy and cheap, Lone Star Imports has any and every part you need at affordable prices. Mind you I use the same autel scan tool and the multiplexer works with Xentry DAS. To even work on a Mercedes you not only have to be an experienced mechanic, also have above average computer skills but it's not as exaggerated like Scotty is making it. From relays to Sam drivers to computers they all go hand in hand just replace it.
