Heres Why They Stopped Making Manual Transmission Cars Mike D: Actually, Suzuki has been selling vehicles like the Grand Vitara XL7, and a little hatchback wagon that I cant remember the name of up until recently. They might even be selling new ones, I dont pay attention to Suzuki because they ride too hard, the seats are awful, and I dont ride motorcycles either. If you want a great Suzuki, import a 25 year old model from Japan. Youll have to drive on the right side of the vehicle, but they made some amazing Kei Cars 25 years ago. Their best car by far was the GSX/4 Concept sports race car. Pushrod suspension, amazing bike engine, insane handling. It was a real deal concept, but they held onto the one example and youre never getting that away from them, not for all of the Nori wraps in Japan But the old Swift, and I think they made the Alto, and the little Cappuccino is awesome as well. Get a Daihatsu Copen with the hard top convertible if you want an amazing little Kei car. Or the Honda Beat, Toyota Sera, or the Autozam AZ-1. The AZ-1 & the Sera even come standard with Gullwing Doors And theres plenty to choose from. But its a vehicle youre going to buy from pictures & a description & maybe a video walk around if youre lucky. Best bet, if you have the to spare, is to travel to Japan & find a few vehicles to send back. That way you can sell the others for a ton of, and keep what you want. Get a 83 240RS or Silvia, or an 85-94 Silvia, Skyline, Supra, 300ZX 2+2, 3000GT, 93 Celica GT-Four, etc etc. And sell the ones you dont want to pay for the trip, import costs (about 2k per vehicle, and the cost of the vehicles & upgrades to the one you keep. Its a gold mine. Go there, bring cars back, sell them, and keep the ones you cant live without. People in the U. S. will pay hefty amounts of for those cars. Good luck Sorry for the rant.

I had a 2002 suzuki vitara. Like riding on the highway on a washing machine very accurate description hahaha. Very dependable car from my experience but the short wheel base and lightweight body and frame made it hard to control at speed and also wasnt geared well for going over 60mph. But they do phenomenal in the snow and offroad. I got a 1992 s10 blazer and a 1994 gmc jimmy as my 2 cars now. My blazer is my year round daily that ive had for 4 years and does quite well. Ive had quite a bit done on it and its yet to leave me stranded. Rusty but trusty. Not too rusty tho. All it really needs is an engine rebuild at worst due to it smoking as much as it does. But i like it and to me it would be worth the cost of the rebuild (a few friends are mechanics and they give me some good deals and do good work. And the blazer ive had alot done on before i even got it on the road. All in all not bad as parts are cheap and plenty along with the deals i get for work done and what work i can do. My jimmy is just a summer daily because of how clean the body is and the fact its a rare 4door 5speed from the factory (know of a guy who manual swapped a red 93 4door in my local area. Had the jimmy on the highway going 85+ (maxed out the 85mph speedo) and it was straigh as an arrow and pretty quiet only reving at about 3k. Both are a huge upgrade on the highway compared to the suzuki that was 3. 5k rev at 70mph shaking like a scared chouwowua and all over the road lol.

This is going to piss everybody off, but I have a theory on why they arent popular in the U. S. It is because there is no incentive to get one (aside from the general lack of availability. The roads here sprawl so much that there just isnt a practical need for standard transmissions, this coupled with the fact that driving schools model the curriculum (for the most part) after driving conditions experienced in the country eliminates the requirement. In the instance that someone speaks of their importance 9 times out of 10 they come from either A) a driver from a more densely populated country where they actually make sense or B) an enthusiast who looks down upon everybody else for their incompetence with driving them. You can fight the idea all you want, but you must face the reality that they have already been replaced through the demands of the average consumer.

I love my VW GTI VR6 Turbo. You get so much more punch out of that gas pedal when you drive a stick. I can downshift when going down hills; save wear and tear on my brakes; and I can also push start the car if my battery is dead. I definitely have more control of my overall driving experience. Beyond that, a throwout bearing and a clutch is the only overhaul a manual transmission will ever need, making it way cheaper to fix than an automatic. The only inconvenience is bumper to bumper traffic but thats rare for me and my 1st gear is so low I can move at a crawl with no problem.

I see youre answering questions from folks, but, Im not sure where theyre asking them. lol Anyway, I had another question for you to not answer; ) In regard to changing oil: Is it better to stay with the classic 3 months/3K miles rule or use the new oil life/percentage gauge on the dash? Ever since we bought our 2007 Odyssey, Ive been changing it when the maintenance light comes on. I do ALL my own oil changes ever since working at a Q Lube many years ago and discovering how many people work at those places and have no business touching anything on a car.

I got a question. A couple of months ago I crashed my 10 ford focus. Got parts and fixed it up. Anyway at first the car was overheating because it didnt have enough coolant so I added until it was full. I let the car running for a while until it would suck more of that coolant. Anyhow long story short, its been about 2 months since I started driving it again but every now and then Ill see that the coolant reservoir level has gone down. Ive checked for coolant leaks, found nothing. Is it normal for the radiator to keep sucking up coolant?

scotty I have a question I not sure if you covered it but I am looking for a reliable truck thats good haul a travel trailer occasionally. I know mention the EcoBoost in past videos bad from ford so whats your brands I dont need huge power I will only haul a boat and a travel trailer on an occasion. But the next truck I want be reliable I have 2004 Toyota Tacoma 4 cylinder using a basically a buddy truck haul those two items currently. I am looking into a used truck nothing newer than 2013 with semi low miles.

Technology is getting better and better all of the time and unlike the 50s or 60s where people thought there would be flying cars autonomous cars is where things are going. Imagine a future where you pay a monthly subscription fee to store your car in a huge garage and when you need it it just comes and picks you up. Only time youd probably drive it is on long trips. No one would ever need to buy a car seeings they are a money pitt. Luxury cars would cost more monthly than the cheaper versions etc.

I drove manual between 1995-2018. Id say mostly because I had an AT car here and there, but mostly manuals. Last year, got a AT car, and the reason I got it is because congestion and traffic on my route to work and back. I just cant take the 1. 2. back to 1. 2. 3. 2. shifting for 15-20 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic. I really want a manual car and I hate automatics, but whats the point if half of my time is spent going 10-15mph?

From what I understand, the percentage of people buying manual transmission is the USA is really low, like less than 1% so you cant blame them about not bothering making a MT version. In Europe buying a car with an automatic transmission is rather seen as buying a more expensive version of the car. But even if there isnt unreliable automatic transmission, its the unreliable diesel common rail engine that give money to mechanics.
