Watch This Before Buying a Mercedes Schwarzenwein: My mom drives a 2006 mercedes e class (w211, 220cdi) and it currently has just shy over 400000 miles on it and was dead reliable so far. She owned since it had 12000 miles on it and it never let her stranded. Same story with my brothers 2005 w211, which has about 250000 miles on the clock. I mean sure you have to do basic maintenance things like breaks and stuff, but you might as well go to an independent dealer ones your warranty expires, since there are no collector cars and if you have a good mechanic or do the work yourself, they arent expensive to own. One tip for all of you looking to buy a mid 2000s mercedes: dont choose the airmatic suspension or the abc suspension, as these kinds of suspensions all get weak not because of the mileage, but because of the age and it is expensive to maintain these systems cost effectively, thats where scotty is right. Ah, yeah Im from Germany so the situation in the us might be different.

Thats a CLS500. 550 has a computer on top of the intake. Something its wrong with the trunk badge. By the way that v8 in my opinion its one of the best v8 s ever made in reliability therms. The same I can say about the transmission 722. 6 5 speed automatic. For the rest, its cls its nice design, poor quality in the plastics and letter. With all the respect but you keep showing that old Toyota, which is a great car in therms of reliability. You still keep that because the newer ones are the same as this Mercedes. Modules, electronics, cheap quality overall. Somebody its counting money in these companies, and they want more and more every year. Mercedes its still a great car company, one of the greatest in my opinion. Ritch people dont want old cars, poor people they want them but cant afford to fix them.

Too many mini Scotty kilmers in the comment section. Everyone loves believing the stereotype of how Mercedes is a mechanical nightmare. The people who believe that probably never owned one, worked on one, doesnt take care of there car, or just got a lemon. The pinnacle of Mercedes was the 80s/90s cars. For those who dont know those cars were built with the most premium materials and parts which are still holding up until this day People make it seem like owning a Mercedes is a disaster. It all depends on which model you buy and what engine you have. Many Mercedes motors will see 200k plus miles If taken cared of. The bread and butter of Mercedes is a the v8 engines. M113 and m119 are one of the best v8 engines. Thats the reason why theyve used those motors in so many models for years and years.

Its actually cheaper to own a mercades then it is to own a dodge charger. Lol Well it costs about the same because dodge charges at least 225 an hour to work on your car in NY. We bought a used 2 year old dodge charger from the dealer for around then had to put 3000+ into it after buying it and it still doesnt drive right. Its actually physically dangerous to drive on the road because the electronic breaks and power steering pump shut down while you are driving sometimes but dodge said it was alright to drive. At least a mercades would last a few years out of the dealership and you expect to put money into them not to mention they know how to fix their own cars unlike dodge that cant figure out how to fix their own cars

German cars are best when bought new and under their all inclusive service and warranty packages. To own one effectively in financial sense you need to have a business where you can claim rebate against taxes by showing the car as a company expense. When you cannot claim the rebate anymore just dispose off the car. That is why they lose tremendous value when they come up in the used market. If youre a salaried person with plenty of disposable income just lease the thing from the Germans, its less hassle.

Another I hate MB rant, applicable to any car thats not a Corolla I guess. Most of this Benz info applies to most cars out there. Theyve all got numerous modules and any dealer work costs a lot. Any mfg will have certain more common issues on their models. Get an Autel MD808Pro and it will access vehicle modules. Of course anybodys got to learn about what they are working on, what do you expect? Just substitute [your model car] whenever he says Mercedes and youll be close to real world.

Keep it up Please keep driving the prices down on future cars with your propaganda. Lol I get 35 MPG with 4Matic, 5, 500lbs and air suspension. BTW iCarsoft makes a tool dont need to pay 5k, even gives real time scanning. As for the air suspension its dirt cheap now that its been around for so long. 2 front air struts are 450 with lifetime warranty and can be installed by a novice in less than 2 hours on the front of a W221. Thanks for the great deals Scotty

Im a electronic engineer on aircrafts and I also do all the work on my car, I have stayed away from Germen cars solely because I personally feel they are overpriced, 3 years ago, I leased a CLA250 for 3 years for my moms 65th birthday, 1 year into the lease I had the pleasure of driving the car myself for about a month. this is how I feel about MB, they should be criminally investigated and charged, all their engineers need to be locked up for life.

german cars used to be reliable and strong. Now with all the sensors and craps added, the car stops working for any simple issue, its just not reliable anymore. Electronic and screens there are just not impressive, you can get the most advanced Screen with Android, Wifi, GPS, cameras etc. for 400, install it for 200 and turn you old 2005 car into a modern looking interior car

If you buy one of these cars and you know absolutely nothing about the Sensotronic Brake Control system then you dont need to be buying it. Luckily Mercedes extended the warranty for the system for 25 years so for the most part the only thing youll have to pay for is the brake job. Seriously actually research what the hell youre buying and you wont have any surprises.
