As a Toyota salesperson, the outward vision on the sides was the biggest complaint of any potential buyer, but good mirror angle, fish eye mirrors along with a good backup camera could overcome most of it. Fantastic vehicle and destined to become a classic, just like the original FJ40 Land Cruiser, but with a bit more off-road fun and comfort included. The only reason this thing was discontinued is because Toyota did not make it a convertible, AND it was introduced same year the Wrangler 4door was introduced. Now every man, woman and child wants a 4door Wrangler to put their family into.

I had the cemet gray trail teams edition for 5 years. It was a lot of fun. I had one accident - The FJ had one corner of the flimsy stock front bumper destroyed, the corolla that hit me looked like a tee pee and was a total loss. These are built like tanks i received 25K for a trade in with 65K miles on it. I miss it sometimes when I see one but that swing out hatch is kind of a pain if you are trying to haul anything with the hitch carrier. I went to the Chevy Colorado ZR2 - first Chevy and after a year, still love it.

A couple of more notes. We camp in the desert, 5 people, for several days. I guess it depends on your definition of camping but I wouldnt say its for two people only at all. The manual transmission version is an AWD vehicle (with center Torsen diff) that can be put in 4WD mode (and then low gear. About the windshield: I used to get a chip a year, once I replaced it with a cheap aftermarket one and since then (must have been 2012) I never had any more problems. I guess the OEM ones are not great?

I believe the FJ is the most popular ORV among expatriates in Todos Santos, Baja Mexico. (Not far from Cabo) Most popular vehicle for that matter. When I first got mine in 10 a lot of folks walked up on me in San Diego and asked questions or shot compliments. Well that ended about 8 years ago. Until I got down here. If folks didnt yet have one, they wanted one and were info gathering. So weird considering they stopped making them. What a great vehicle. So weird they couldnt sell more, i dont get it.

Dont understand why so great now. Dealer was almost giving them away in 2008 when I got mine. After warranty had to replace water pump and rear differential was leaking. I believe Toyota made the back too bubbly. Fun to drive and love the aircon. Actually I started going Toyota because of the aircon. My moms 10 year old 4 cyl Camry kept you ice cold while my brand new V-8 Chevy Silverado wouldnt cool jack and sucked all kinds of power from the engine.

[3: 46] _Its really a two-door with two smaller suicide doors, really not convenient for back-seat passengers, specially if you have family or kids but they look cool_ [6: 04] _ but its just not enough space back there for more than two people on a weekend trip, if you have a family its not the ideal vehicle for road trips, etc. but with these two guys_ [two smallish dogs] _its just the right size. _ Dude, youre so spoiled

This video is why you need to buy American made products and support your fellow Americans. If you love foreign made products, then move their and support that country. Fought for this country and the Love the U. S. My money supports American made products and American citizens. Not foreigners, the Democrat party, and the illegal aliens that the Democrats care more about than their own constituents.

Have a 2010 FJ 4x4 with a 4. 0. 93k miles. Seems to have lost a little power, fuel economy is HORRIBLE. Im presently at 11. 6mpg. It used to get about 16mpg. All stock, except went up one tire size to 285/16s. Changed cold air intake filter, plugs and wires, thermostat and cleaned MAF sensor. Any ideas whats going on? Great ride otherwise. Has me stumped?

No offence, I would say that an FJ Cruiser is a 4Runner that pays superficial homage to the legendary FJ40. An FJ Cruiser is not of Land Cruiser lineage. V6? Independent suspension? Premium Fuel? Might be a great truck in its own right, but it is a descendant of the 4Runner not the Land Cruiser.
