Heres Why this Pontiac Trans Am GTA is Still Worth Over 20, 000 Paul Forester: I would like this car better that what Scott tells you to buy. Make up you mind Scott on American cars or do you just want Americans in the unemployment line. By the way, its not a real sports car if it has a automatic transmission. Its also a good way to prevent theft. You must not read all of the comments because you never brought up why a foreign car ( a Honda) would drop a whole engine in 1987 from rust. I thought you knew about cars. Where is the quality in having sheet metal SO CHEAP and thin. Now even American cars use thin metal because people like you drive the market. You cant even lean on any car without putting a dent in it. I would rather buy a old American car and fix it up cause it will have more value than the new ones, and last longer too. You must not know what salt does to vehicles with thin sheet metal. You must be from the South or where you dont have to worry about snow. Even in the summer I see problems with your logic. I seen too many foreign cars have big problems with mud and dirt roads. One had rocks jam the rear tire after it was towed from a muddy parking area. I had no problem. You must be to high class to drive on a dirt road. If you are a REAL auto mechanic you have to get dirty to fix things sometimes. You should know that and have a good day.

Always liked the transam an firebirds over the camaros. Even tho my x had a t-top black an gold I rock camaro with the tune port 350. It blew a head gasket an me an a very great mechanic friend of mine rebuilt the heads an new top end gaskets an cleaned an replaced many hoses an everything top end of the motor. We did the a tuneup on it new cap rotor wires an plugs an new ignition module an this car was crazy to drive. From the factory the car was wicked with posi trac rear end an after we did this to it it was one of the fastest stock car i have ever driven it was an automatic an the car on a 25mph throttle jam would get the car fish tailing hit 2nd an if u were still in it the car would come all the way around but if u could hold it half way straight the car would hit 3rd an smoke tge tires until you let up. Long story about an irock t top but those were some bad ol cars in the day. The Pontiac was the under dog from the get go over shadowed by the camaro but the Pontiacs were no joke. Brother had a black an gold transam an it was just as mean. 400 posi rear stock would eat the tires off the wheels an it was also a automatic. Me I had 71 chevelle an 71 skylark an the buick would eat the chevelle for lunch.

Actually theyre were SEVERAL 5. 7l powertrain examples available, However on the Iroc z and the GTA, they were optional, base engine was the 5. 0l 4bbl v8. , a step up away the 5. 0 Tpi equipped cars with a 5 speed or and automatic. All 5. 7l TPi cars on the f body platform could only be ordered with the 4 SPD 700r4 auto. Now in regards to the t tops, dealers werent in charge of t top conversions. Because they were done at the Van Nuys or Norwood plant. Which either came as hardtops or t tops. ASC did convertible conversions, but that was it

I had a maroon 88 GTA. I was the 2nd owner in 94 only had 34, 000 miles on it. Had a 350 turbo transmsn, & supercharged. She was an absolute Beast that walked off, waaaay off & leave many a mustang, camero, even a couple vettes. It would smoke my 96 (c2, or 3) maybe? idk for sure, been so long ago; many cars ago. i know same engine rite? well almost; ). It was a badAss for its time. I liked it, my 1st car with digital guages made me feel like in a spaceship. Bah HaHaHa. good times. Thx 4 vid. a trip dwn memory lane 4me.

Its a real beauty, these are are a great car, Im British as well, I had a 1990 LO3 Firebird, it was just the right size for our crappy British roads, I put a Flowmaster cat back and Edelbrock headers on it, it sounded great, I traded it for a 4th Gen Firehawk years ago, the rust was just starting to get hold of it but like you, I didnt daily drive it and never on salted roads.

First car I ever bought. 88 gta, Black with gold wheels, hardwood cowl hood, shift kit, welded diff, but it had an older 350 carb motor bored. 40 over. It was so much fun but I only wish it had a manual trans. My parents sold it when I was away at school. That car is the reason I wont sell any of my cars anymore. It is also a car I want to own again some day.

I purchased a new black on black with leather 89 gta from the dealer with t tops in 1989. and it didnt have a digital dash. So I dont think 1988 had a digital dash as shown in this video. They wanted 22k. I flew to detroit for the cobal hall car show and got a bill of sale for 19k (worked for TWA) and used it to negotiate a deal in New York for 19, 400.

The nose emblem is too high. and I have never seen a rear spoiler like that on a 350 or a GTA. The GTA had a whale fin type. And GTAs had the body guard, trim piece on the doors. Someone must have replaced the back glass. The decals are in the wrong place and trim pieces are missing. someone made it look like a normal trans am if you ask me.
