I own a 1998 Toyota Avalon XLS with 148k miles, and bought it last year for 1500 with 138k miles I love it. With the XLS package I get leather heated seats, automatic moonroof, and traction control. Also for a 22 year old car the a/c is freezing cold, and the heat is HOT. The car drives like a dream, very smooth even when I drive with shot struts. The car is perfect in the snow with the traction control, and I drive through the harsh upstate NY winters NEVER SLIPPED. Also very little rust for a 22 year old nys car. I get around 18 mpg average meh not bad especially for a large spacious vehicle. The only problems I have with the vehicle is the shot struts (age, hard shifting automatic transmission (soliniods need replacing, ONLY 2 CUP HOLDERS, and the rack and pinion leak scotty talked about. However, I took care of the problem by putting Lucas rack and pinion stop leak, and high mileage store brand ATF fluid. No more leaks. I never heard about faulty cams, better look into that. The car is still running, passing inspections, im using it as a everyday driver, the most luxury you could ever want except cup holders, and the car wont die. I would highly recommend getting a 90s avalon. Just be careful with the 1mz-fe oil sludge problem, to prevent this I put synthetic Mobil 1 5w-30 high milage every little over 7k miles, I put oem oil filters, and change the pcv valve with it.

I purchased a 1975 Ford F-100 with 385, 000 miles on it. It looked like a nightmare, ran even worse, and smoked like Cheech and Chong. But the seller wanted 75 to get it off his land. I actually drove it home. With salvage parts, a donor inline six engine, and an afternoon of wrenching, I made that old inline six run like new and had the three on the tree shifting smooth. I drove that nightmare almost two years. When I was financially stable again, I found someone else down on their luck that worked in another department at work. I left the key to the F-100 in his mailbox at work with a discription of the truck and signed it, From someone who has been there. Pay it forward when you are done. I really do not know his name. I just knew he suffered a fire and lost everything and was living out of a motel that was walking distance from work. The old truck sat until payday when he got it registered. The last I heard he drove it two years before he stabilised financially. I do not know what happened to the old truck. Perhaps he left it for someone else. I know the engine was running strong.

Wont lie, got my first car at 16 years old. Was a 1996 Jeep Cherokee sport. 900. 00 bucks. Still got it, still use it 3-4 times a week. Im 24 now. Never had anything major happen. Has almost 350k miles on it. Got it at 280k. Older jeeps were built to last. Below is a list of all parts Ive had to replace (mind you it was still stock parts when I got it besides oil/tires/breaks/plugs) Spark plugs Rear main oil sealLeaf springs Tires (on my 3rd set)Breaks/rotors (on my 2nd set) Blower fanAlternator2 batteriesDriver side window crank. Muffler (I took it off-roading and laid it flat on a hill, my bad) Speakers in the car didnt have to be replaced but they had blown so I did replace them. Honestly all those parts added up still make this the Best Buy Ive ever made as far as cars go.

Hey Scotty. There is this little soap dish shaped thing that holds inside door handle on my Toyota. It's cracked, and I can't open the door from the inside. I took two hours off from my crappy job to go to junk yard to buy a replacement. The thing is held on with one screw, and just little bit of plastic. The guy at the junk yard wanted two hundred bucks for the thing. Now I just roll down my window. amd opne my door by using my outside door handle. You say, Find a honest person of some sort. How do you do that? My job sucks, and my boss is still angry I took time off to try to fix my car. I'm older, and so is my car. Everyone can take one look at me and thinks I can screw this guy over. No really, how do you find honest people. I don't have time or money to look around.

Chrysler vehicles have had built-in diagnostics since the 1980s. To bring up whatever codes the warning lights are on for right there for you on the dash, you just turn the key to the on position (engine not running) 3 times stopping with it in the on position, within 5 seconds. This will show you any error codes that have triggered the warning lights in your dashboard. You can write down these codes and find roughly 95% of them through Google. However, if you got a newer Chrysler that has the Push-to-Start starters, you will have to use a diagnostic tool like the ones Scotty uses. The majority of Chrysler's CEL codes have never ben changed, but more have been added as cars got more and more complicated, so the older the Chrysler, the fewer errors you can have.

2001 Honda CR-V EX with 127, 500 on it for 500. 00. Needed a 12. 00 wire set, 57. 00 NEW OEM spec distributor & a 6. 00 set of 4 stock OEM NGK spark plugs to get it running & it now has codes 300, 301, 302 & 1399 instead of 300, 301, 302, 303, 304, 172 & 420. Ordered set of lifetime guaranteed rebuilt injectors for 45. 00 with new filter & FPR for 30. 00 combined & may also need valve adjustment along with doing diff, transmission fluid & oil changes + timing & fan belts will be replaced if valves need adjustment. Also got pair of barely used B. F. Goodrich tires for 60. 00 to go with the 2 good ones on it so not into it for too much. Body & interior is in great shape & the paint isn't perfect but is OK.

I want to get a 2019 Honda Civic Si. I just love standard transmissions and I want something with a little style and a little pep while also affordable and easy to maintain. I know turbos typically don't last as long as naturally aspirated engines but I don't plan on having it for 200, 000 miles. I don't put that many miles on per year so I'm thinking just sell it and get another new one around 2028-2030.
