My Saab 9-5 2005 45, 000 miles has issue with keys wont lock car i synced it manually, works great but then stops again when i leave car dont think i saved it once got in program mode. Could it be the receiver box not the one around the ignition tho or could it be ignition, the car knows the doors are shut ie the door switches the radio turns off when pull key out ignition, door locks work fine? Please no one can figure this out My Saab 9-5 2005 45, 000 miles has issue with keys wont lock car i synced it manually, works great but then stops again when i leave car dont think i saved it once got in program mode. I have a question for Scotty. An old mechanic told me about this trick to keep you engine clean. What do you think? before you change your oil take a quart of tranny fluid and dump it in the oil, run for 20 - 40 miles, change oil. He said the tranny fluid is almost pure detergent and will pick up the extra dirt which your oil can not hold and deposits in the engine. When you drain the oil the dirt goes with it leaving the engine cleaner. Also my friend has a vw jetta with two automatic transmissions for sale. Sounds kinda exotic, what do you think? Scotty Kilmer

Cool now the engine will never reach closed loop and consume more fuel, potentially overwhelm the cats, potentially overheat since the t-stat is a regulated restriction that also controls the amount of time the hot coolant is in contact with heat exchange. However the last thing is only a problem if the car is driven some where really hot. FYI it will also never pass a smog test if your state does them because it will never get warm enough (assuming the sealer worked) to run all the readiness monitors.

I understand the reason for taking out the thermostat during the treatment to avoid messing it up. However, if you are going to let the car just idle for half an hour with no air flow, and the engine already has an overheating problem, how in the world will you know if it starts to overheat before it's too late without the thermostat? You don't want to let it get hot enough to where it starts showing otherwise you are just causing extra damage. Scotty, can you clue us in here please?

Scotty as always you are a genius. I've been watching you since 2011. Even having my own shop you constantly inspire me. FYI I have used blue devil stop leak in well over a 100 engines where people just did not have any other options. Only 1 4 54 motor home didn't work. And I've never had one of those motors come back to me period of course that's because I recommend it to get rid of them while they were running: )

Blue Devil is better than Baar's, dad used it on one of the old 7MGE engines in his Supra, put it in, run it at idle for an hour, let it sit until cool down and it worked, it held up for 2 years and then he put a 1JZ engine in the car. That Nissan doesn't look in real bad shape, in fact it looks like she garages it and SUV's are costly no matter who makes them, she should look into a JDM engine for that SUV.

My friends 2012 Altima's CVT transmission went out while driving and had it rebuilt with a transmission cooler added and another friend had a 2014 Frontier that had the ECM go out while driving with a boat attached. Lucky he was alright and trade it in, but the other friend is stuck with it until she gets enough dough for another. Nissan will try to send you to heaven when you least expect it.

The first shop she took it to probably knew it wasn't the radiator, but was happy to charge her for the part and labor anyway. She coughed up all that cash on a vehicle that is on its final days. That really gets under my skin. Scotty took the extra time to figure it out and now she can figure out what she wants to do, hopefully the vehicle gives her enough time to get another one.
