I added a few days either side of a Colorado railroad tour I was booked on to take a look around Denver, often referred to as the mile high city because it sits at an elevation of 5, 280 feet. A visit to the tourist information centre revealed there were a couple of transport museums to visit and the Coors Brewery. My companion for the day was also touring Colorado-s railroads, he was keen to visit the brewery and I was looking forward to visiting the Colorado Railroad Museum. The tourist centre directed us to a nearby bus stop from where we caught a bus to Golden for the brewery, there was no onward public transport to the railroad museum which was located about a mile away so we opted to walk. For most of the distance we walked next to a sizable freight train shunting the brewery sidings. As the museum came into view we could see a tempting array of exhibits beckoning us to take a closer look. The museum houses a sizable collection locomotives and rolling stock that used to run on the State-s railroads, there is also a running line as well as indoor and outdoor model railroads. To ride trains on the museum-s railroad check their website to see what days they are running, as they don-t run every day. The museum is well worth visiting, offering a wide variety of exhibits, as well as telling the story of the State-s railroads. The day was hot and the walk back to the brewery tiring, so we were looking forward to the tour and a few beers before catching the bus back to Denver. I highly recommend this tour, it-s free, not only do participant-s get to see the beer being brewed, the story of the brewery and how it survived prohibition is told using a series of exhibits along with a comprehensive commentary via a set of headphones. The tour finishes in the best possible way, with free a beer or three.

pega17pl: Hello Tim, what a museum with tons of curios! (6: 12) Never saw similar railway stuff. At front like small bus, backside like kiosk. - Heinz Date: 2022-11-28
