Level crossing work near Minehead meant trains were unable to continue past Dunster to Minehead where run round facilities were available. An alternative method was required to get the train engine from one end of its rake of carriages to the other, this was achieved by using a second locomotive and a siding as shown in this video. Having completed the run round manoeuvre our train was ready to return to Bishops Lydeard. Once again we enjoy a forward view of the line as we head along the coastal section through the attractive station at Blue Anchor before turning inland at Doniford Halt to Williton, home of the -Diesel and Electric Preservation Group-. After a short stop we are on our way again climbing hard towards Washford then its downhill to Watchet. Sadly the camera battery expired before reaching Watchet. For those who would like to see the complete run in the opposite direction

Tim, excellent video that stirred memories of 1961 - a late-summer Scout troop camp in the Quantocks, near Nether Stowey and a ride on the steam powered Minehead Railway, via Blue Anchor & Dunster - before Butlins opened. Even saw a showroom glimpse of a first E-type Jag, during the -furniture removals van- trip back home - whilst perching upon folded tents & piles of rucksacks. (Wouldn-t pass H&S standards now. Lovely countryside. Loved your -Beam me up, Scotty- moment, with the ground frame operator edit!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this one. I rode the WSR a couple of years ago when they were working from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead and the weather was exactly the same. I do hope you can visit the WSR again. Cheers

I could just imagine a run out from Washford, the next station would be Rinseford, then Spinford. The -Laundry Express! - LOL
