Raw, unfiltered, inside look of how i survive & the food i eat (fishing/gardening/foraging) - ep. 179 I had a German foreign exchange student that gave off the same awkward quite energy. I thought it was just him but maybe the culture is just not as fun or something. Actually had many exchange students but by far the best was the French. They had fun and joked and laughed all the time. There was a big group of them that all came together, so that helped too.
So much seafood, dont think I could do it. Need my chicken and beef.

Hey. I m not sure on your release cycles but lingcod and rockfish have been closed since before your last video release. That Ling was looking pretty small or borderline as well from the camera perspective but I ll give you the benefit of the doubt since I can t measure.
Just remember, the regs are there to protect the vulnerable sea life especially during their breeding season. Living off grid and remote doesn t mean that you can break the rules. Again, I m not sure when the video was shot and I can t measure the lingcod from the camera so I ll give you the benefit of the doubt.
Aside from that, as a Vancouver island spearo like yourself, I m jealous of your waters
Cheers

Hi folks from over here in UpState New York! Love the area & what you've done to it & are doing to it. Can't wait till you get all the windows in the new home & seal it up finally. The foundation will be well seasoned, eh? You all stay safe & have fun! Thx for sharing! ;- ]

Your now Thriving! Not just surviving, all down to all your hard work, planning, knowledge etc.
Wonky veg is down to lack of magnesium in the soil. You can rectify this by adding this mineral to the soil in the form of a Epsom Salts dilution.
Love to you all

This video is power packed full of so much how we survive and eat and provide for our young family off grid Should this be our final video of 2023 or should we do one more? Should our family stay a family of three or should we add a fourth or fifth?

Not meant to appear disparaging but the craft of being able to light a fire with one match still seems worth doing. Im sure on wet days, you have a lot, its still a good skill setup to preserve. Just my old boy scout opinion LOL

I love your videos, but the more I watch them, the more Jake seems like an obsessive, controlling perfecfionist who needs things to always go his way. Oddly enough though, he seems to pull that off in a nice manner lol.

Oh, & add new videos whenever you have extra footage & stay away from the start of a nursery for a while, please. It's hard for some us out here. To have to share your time w/ vertically challenged non-tax payers; - ]

Nematodes in the soil cause carrots to look that way. The carrots that you see at the grocery store have been treated with metro bromite or Telon. So they're more perfect looking for the housewife to purchase.

I follow a lady farmhouseonboone, and she bakes sourdough all the time. Her latest recipe was for double, double chocolate bread. It looked so good. You might want to check her out. She has really good ideas.

Jake have ever considered getting a small scuba tank just for fishing, also could be used to check under your big boat if there is a issue. Ever get lobsters or that has to be gotten way out in the ocean?

4: 10 if youre frying the heads for the dogs you can leave them intact (less labor and waste) bc the tenticles ) crisp up and are not harmful. Many sushi places serve the entire heads fried Ama Ebi

That blue Bluetti battery is still going strong. Thinking about getting one for a bit of protection against the winter storms here in East coast Scotland. Love what you are doing.

Use a better oil. Canola oil turns rancid once heated. Even the vapors are dangerous. Use lard, tallow or butter. Even better oils like avocado and sunflower should not be heated.
