Massive Twitter Plot Exposed, Youtube Lawsuits Pile Up, PETA, Wisconsin Power Grab, & More Chris Anderson: Ive lived in Madison, Wisconsin most of my life, Im 32 now and have had an abusive power hungry stepfather my mom just divorced that knew Scott Walker. Ive been friends with and been close with the daughters of Mayor Soglin. Ive dated a girl from and been close with the Frank family when younger who own and run the Coliseum. Ive seen a lot in this city and its sad that the people finally spoke to remove Scott Walker together as a group because they were sick of the smaller towns and counties voting for Trump and Walker, so now that we finally got one of the people we dont support out of power, the other Republicans (like my abusive psychopathic stepdad) are sore losers and do what they can to undermine the people of Wisconsin who spoke and said 8 years of this is enough. Scott Walker was one of the worst things to happen to this State and now that hes almost gone theyre being sore losers and not accepting that nobody wants them around anymore. Its just frustrating living here after all these years because we speak our voice with voting, then speak our voice in the streets but people who are greedy for more power and to cling on what small amount of relevancy they have cant accept it and have to give us the finger as they are kicked off the playing field. We just want someone in office who gives a shit about all the people of Wisconsin, not just the rich folks like the Frank family who have nothing to gain since they already have all the money in the world.

Most republicans I come across DO NOT CARE about proper checks and balances, laws or principals as was more usual in the past. They just want stuff to go backwards to a time (an idea of a time) before things changed. When their families were perhaps better off, if we are speaking of people in rural areas who've taken the biggest economic blows -- most done irrespective of how destructive this was to areas less keen on changes and with long histories of established few job markets. Many Democratic and Republican international trade deals really hammered on many established job markets that helped people support local communities - now funded mostly by federal subsidies and the remaining crumbling rural economies. Whether you think the jobs should have gone or not, the consequences are still real, and it is progressive who must keep that in mind. DO NOT FORGET. We don't want to further damage communities in our efforts to make the world a better place. It is this damaging of communities that leaves them offensive and further builds divisions. We cannot fully expect the damaged communities of the inner city and the real areas to see things the same, but they both are being pushed around by those in power. Learn and vote, and recognize we all are wrong about a lot of things, so slow down.

I usually lurk these comments but I have to speak as it seems people don't fully grasp the will of the people. Tony Evers won by an extremely thin margin (thanks to Lacrosse, Madison, and Milwaukee, BUT when you look at the results of the local elections for our State Assembly you can clearly see the Republican candidates considerably outperform the Democrats. What does this mean? Never forget the little guy; the farmers that works before the sun rises until after dark or the small business owners who is doing there best to not only provide for their families but also those who work for them. Just because the group think in the highly populated, monolithic cities like the ones listed above provide higher vote total for a leader role doesn't mean everyone who didn't vote for them doesn't get a fair shot at electing someone that represents them best i. e. the State Assembly officials. To conclude, whether this is a power grab or not this is how the government works whether you agree or disagree with what is going on. Don't stand idle if you don't like the results, go use your vote even in your local municipality elections where YOU can make the biggest impact.

For Wisconsin I think its a huge power grab by the Republicans to take away what the people voted for. The fact that it was a topic in the midterms and now the governor wishes to address it in his final hours to do the opposite of what the people voted for is ridiculous. There is a similar situation happening in Michigan concerning Line 5 (a Canadian pipeline taking a shortcut through the Great Lakes. The republicans are trying to hurry through a bill to make more jobs by building a tunnel around the pipeline in order to prevent damage, because the voters in Michigan put in Whitmer who promised to get rid of the pipeline. Its a massive power move and ridiculous considering that tourism is the largest industry in Michigan because of the Great Lakes. This pipeline is only a death sentence to not only the environment and the largest body of fresh water in the world, but also to Michigans economy since there are no benefits for this pipeline for us and it will eventually cause huge issues. Lame duck sessions should stay as such and these last minute power grabs need to stop.

Wow. I've never disagreed with you so hard While PETA is an incredibly problematic organization, rife with hypocrisy, denying that our society needs to reevaluate the manner in which we think and talk about animals is foolish. At this point, we are treating sentient beings like lifeless commodities. There is literally no need for 56 billion animals to be killed each year for humanity's selfish wants. Although there are other, more immediate, things society can do in order to combat this problem, integrating these small changes in your language today would have an impact on society's mindset in the future. You're passing on the idea to your children that animals aren't inferior. That animals don't only exist to be consumed or killed. That, if we use animal products, it should be in a respectful way, conscious of their lives and the impact on the environment. Our planet is dying, Philip. Major changes need to be made to save planet Earth and it can start by being more thoughtful in your speech. I'm disappointed you were blinded by the messenger.

Im not saying what youre saying about the Egypt case is wrong but HOW youre talking about it is a disgusting display of the West = modern and non-West = backwards mentality in that those who fall in line with the Western meter stick of modernity are good and with the times and those who dont are automatically backwards/primitive. This mode of discourse is hugely problematic and has held up the colonial structures of power and domination that plague countless nations and people up through today. If you want to discuss global issues seriously, dont delegitimize entire legal systems without explaining to your audience the histories and cultures of the places you talk about. Not that tradition necessarily excuses ways of thought but that it explains how things come to be the way they are and how people (of a certain region) can go about making the changes they want to see in effective ways. Lean in but dont be a part of erasing history. Please be responsible; people like me look up to you.

Phil, I appreciate the outrage when Republicans vote to limit the Democrat Governor, but as is the case so often, this is just the case of turnabout being fair play. This is really no different than all the times that Democrats have voted to strip power from incoming Republicans. Again, I don't agree with this and I don't support this behavior, but to portray it as some brand new dirty trick is just bad reporting or ignorance at least. This has gone on from both sides for years. As so much is with American politics, this is not a case of Left vs. Right, this is again, them against us, the sitting government against the people. If you really want to report on the real issue, look at how many of those legislators voting in this are many-year veteran politicians. This is simply another case of the old guard, no matter the side, protecting themselves from the new thoughts and the will of the people.

The Wisconsin power grab shouldn't be surprising at all. It is really very, very simple to understand political acts spearheaded by both of the parties. If a democrat is doing something, it's because they think it's the right thing to do based on principles or think it will get them more support, etc. If a republican is doing something, it's because it's best for Republicans. They will abandon absolutely any principle to protect or empower their in-group. If they could make it so that all abortion clinics could only be owned by Republicans, they would support abortion. If they could make it so that only Republicans could hold public office, they would burn democracy tomorrow. Nothing matters except making sure they stay in power and have as much of it as possible. If the Democrats are exaggerating these bills -- why didn't the Republicans put it forward 6 months ago? A year ago? 2 years ago?

The MCN was a massive cash grab con. I called it from day 1. This is why you don't give control over yourself and/or your work to anyone else for any reason. Yes, I know that'll make it harder, there'll be more work for you, and more things that you'll have to learn how to do in order to maintain your power in your business. And I know that you'll be swamped with vultures trying to ingratiate themselves to you, trying to make you dependent on them in some way, but gear up your loins and resist. Be defiant. Do. The. Work. Of course it's not fair and often it means you won't be able to immediately do things on the large scale that you had imagined, but you get to keep whatever profits you make and (more importantly) you will remain free. If you don't let anyone wrap their fingers around your figurative balls, they won't ever be able to squeeze.

I was about to say: I hope it turns sour on Wisconsin when a Republican is in power with a Democratic legislature, but then I thought: No, then Republicans the world over will just complain that the Democrats are messing with democracy. We all know politicians gotta be politicians. But in my eyes, repealing Don't ask, don't tell (when it could be reinstated by a Republican leader, anyway, if they so chose) is NOTHING compared to this obvious stripping of power. And the fact that the Republican leader didn't seem to want to listen to the people he's governing? THAT is what worries me. This move feels like a product of the times we live in. Republican or Democrat, I think we can all say things have changed under Trump. I see this stripping of power to be unfair, but not surprising, given the way the Republican party is going.
