Youtube Crackdown Confusion Explained, Laura Lee Jeffree Star Fallout Escalates, Kelly Tran, & More Luke Gilliland: I believe a lot of the hate on Kelly is racially influenced. I am a HUGE star wars buff and from the research and reddit discourse Ive muddled through, It can be attributed to the books, and older star wars content. Back in the day Star wars, like a lot of other media was very racially particular about its characters. Now Im not a huge debater about whining about the main characters being white, but in the old media obviously lots of the characters were very white or a fictional race that was basically the same thing. Of course there were characters like Lando and Mace, but the majority of the main crew were white. In the newer movies there is a LOT more representation both racially and in the genders. The movies and media have evolved with the times but some people dont evolve along with it. Which is truly sad, but very true. I personally have loved all of the films (Except episode 1 because Darth Maul was trash and no one can convince me otherwise) and the newer ones are fantastic. And Kelly has this line and it shakes me every time she says it I wish I could put my fist through this whole lousy beautiful town. I mean she is an amazing actress Yes her character wasnt given a whole lot of depth, but what can you expect from the time slot? Very sad people are stuck in the past, but shes so strong and inspiring and I admire her.

I said this last time you covered this but I'm sorry I don't side with Jimmy what's his face at all. I'll say this it's disgusting and wrong what Asia did with him but he was a consenting near adult. He was 17 perfectly mentally able to know if he wanted to do that or not. You can see in the pics of him and her he is smilling. You can see messages he left on social media talking about his love for her and how he's so glad she is in his life. Then he sues his parents and her. Those arent the actions of a victimized innocent child. Those are the actions of a piece of shit who's looking to exploit people for money. Like I said I'm not saying what Asia did was right it's just the opposite it was wrong but don't baby the idiot and act like he's a victim. He's not. And no I would feel no different if the ages were reversed. I understand 17 y/os make mistakes he'll I still do and Im 27 but unlike Jimmy I own up to those mistakes and don't get a free pass. (Edit: also I'm not directing this at you Phil because I think you mostly agree but maybe not I'm directing it at people who are making Jimmy out to be a rape victim)

The backlash we're watching unfold is a direct result of social media see me, all of me culture. Viewers pour hours into watching these videos, and thus gain an understanding of the CC's personality and style. This understanding can obviously be flawed, as any savvy or experienced CC will try to at least maintain the wall between viewers and their deepest personal lives. But that's a discussion unto itself. When the CC fcks up, the aggrieved viewer becomes immediately more critical of the CCs work almost as a defence mechanism. The ones who don't really care move on, but the stans want resolution. An insincere apology video is obvious to them because of their knowledge of the CCs relationship to them via the content and SM interactions. That's just my take on it though.

This is late but on the makeup drama I thought people were hating on Laura most because shes just the most annoying when all I had read was the pants tweet (bad enough itself) but combine that with the tweet about Paris and Compton? Even if it was a good apology i wouldnt look past that it was only six years not 15 she was an adult and its pretty clear that those werent just jokes that didnt land. And now shes liking a bunch of tweets of people saying to cut her some slack. you dont just get forgiven for this when what you did was that bad and imo she hasnt even actually apologized since that fake shit was just horrific.

Philip Defranco The hatred for kelly tran is sorta simple to explain. The hatred was 100% misdirected, it's similar to a server in a restaurant. It's also similar to the ghostbusters hatred. A server who provides you with food X (which they didn't cook themselves) gets screeched at by clients as if they did because its their most immediate target. With Kelly Tran, the hatred for her character comes from shitty writing and such. Yet she provided the fans with role X and are directly on the minds of the people. So they get angry at her.

As a Star Wars fan who hated TLJ, leave that girl alone. She didn't write the shitty script and she acted her part beautifully I just hope Rian Johnson never gets to write another Star Wars script again. The fact that some of these fans are willing to harass and attack her is disgusting behavior. You're not a real fan, you're just a POS. I don't even hate Rian Johnson, I just don't think Star Wars and Sci-Fi is really a genre he is good at writing a script for and I wish they would've gone with another writer for the movie.

Completely off-topic, but I was wondering if you could briefly talk bout the recent BTS views situation. Yesterday, YouTube froze the views for IDOL for more than 14 hours and the views during that pause haven't been given back (along with freezing the views, they've deleted views when they assured us that they won't. Also, a YouTuber named BTS being BTS had their account hacked and all of their videos were deleted. They've been trying to get into contact with YouTube, but YouTube has yet to response

I could not identify more with what Tran said. With crazy rich asians, fresh off the boat, to all the boys I've loved before and more I just get so emotional. I cannot convey the significance in seeing more people like me in the media. I am so glad for the brave people like Tran who decided to pursue her one in a million dream, made even more impossible by the look of her face. Thank you, Tran, for making me feel proud of my Asian culture and part of this country.

I usually skip through the better help promo because I've heard it so many times from your videos, but today I actually creeped this video I've already seen and skipped to the middle just so I could remember what the link was. I'm really glad you promoted this, I mean I'm not sure if this is going to be effective for me but i've been too busy to see a therapist and I'm having a really hard time. I wouldn't know this was an option otherwise, so thank you

I think its honesty and being open to your fans, there have been way worse things that people have done but have come back from because they owned up and didnt make excuses. I think its funny because they all praised then ditched jeffree but hes doing fine even after he got called out for things as well. I dont know how she thought there wasnt going to be bad backlash when she uploaded it, did she not even watch it back? She clearly edited it.
