Horrifying NYPD Video Goes Viral, David Dobrik Rejected, Florida Drill Gone Wrong, & Twitch Evolves Charity Ava: Ok, so a few things to take into consideration regarding the woman and her child. If police/security ordered her to leave the premises, she could lose the ability to feed her child. Welfare services give their recipients a very slim timeframe to appeal decisions. Often benefits are cut because recipients couldn't get the time off from work to drop off/fill out paperwork. The window of time that the paperwork can be gathered and delivered to the office, through a meeting with a worker, which is the only way it can be done, is usually limited to about 2 to 3 hours on 3-4 weekdays. For instance, the office in my state will only allow a recipient to bring in paperwork and meet with a worker Mon-Thurs from 1: 30pm to 3: 30pm. If you're waiting past the 3: 30 mark, even if you've been there since 8am and they havent seen you, you have to come back the next day. If she was up againt the 5-10 day business deadline (which is usually the norm) and had to request time off from work, which is not likely to be given without consequences, due to such short notice, (not to mention the loss of income from not working a full day) then the decision is final. Also for every day of the 5-10 days that you don't collect all the information that they require and then go to the office to sort it out, they deduct a sizable portion of benefits as you are seen as not entitled to those benfits. Even though at that poverty level you are desperate for them. So she was ordered out and was possibly facing this situation, that is all too common, if she had left the offices there is a very real chance that that decision to revoke her benefits would've been final. Leaving her with no more recourse to appeal and no childcare benefits to maintain her employment. Also to be ordered to stand for hours on end, knowing the extremely punitive financial consequences if she doesn't comply is truly the same as forcing her. Lastly, standing for that long is painful for anyone, (not to mention while carrying a baby) and they didn't even know if she was physically disabled when they issued the order or not. These are just some of the powerfully impactful nuances on the ground that a lot of welfare recipients can't (or don't have time to) articulate. And it's incredibly unwise to do what these officers did and jump to conclusions given the very limited information we have at our disposal. In assessing this situation, I like to reserve judgment until I know I have all the facts, and then to not villify either party (except in extreme circumstances) no matter what conclusion I derive from the facts. Otherwise all I'm doing is complaining about an existing situation instead of looking for possible solutions. Which. to be crass, is the same as sitting in my sht simply because it's warm. No thanks.

I'm half and half on the shooter situation. My school had a real lockdown but there was no active shooter, it was just someone who robbed a store less than a mile away from the school. The intercom said please proceed into lockdown. No warning of what was going on, so most of us assumed it was just another drill but in a way, it wasnt. Imagine how dangerous it could have been if it actually was an active shooter lockdown? No one would take the situation seriously until it is too late. However, it was mentally traumatizing. Quickly, because no one knew what was going on and the fact there is construction work right behind the school, rumors began spreading around of an active shooter hiding on the school. Every single time the intercom comes on, I strain my ears more than normal (bc I'm hard of hearing) to make sure I'm safe. Every time om outside walking in between classes, I'm paranoid at the bangs the construction workers make. This incident happened in august, 2 weeks after school started and I'm still not over it. I think it's good to have drills but I dont think you should do it without letting the students know it's a drill. However, drills that turn out just to be a code yellow or unnotified to where students are highly stressed out is extremely damaging and traumatizing. There should be more assemblies telling students how to prepare for the worst, not what that Floridian school did

There was an incident much like that in Florida at my own school in January of this year. We were taking the ACT as mandated by North Carolina state and on that day apparently there was someone with an airsoft gun on campus, but there was fear it may be a real firearm so we were put on lockdown. We however didn't know what was going on at this time. I personally thought it was a drill, but a girl in my class got very scared sitting against the wall next to me. I tried to calm her down and comfort her, and even though I myself wasn't sure I told her I suspected it was drill. Unfortunately it was her birthday that day, which made it all the worse. Thankfully it never got out of hand like in Florida, but it did in fact turn out to be a false alarm; there wasn't even a airsoft gun on campus. Most people left as soon as the event was over. It was definitely unnerving, but my biggest concern was the girl I was sitting next with. Tore me up to see her so scared, especially on her birthday.

That video was horiffic. It 100% does not matter WHY that situation happened. What matters is how that young child was handled I am thuroughly shocked ans disgusted. That baby was jerked around so violently it could have caused serious injury. Not to mention the emotional injury. As a mother of a child with needs who also has joints that very easily dislocate for seemingly no reason, this is terrifying to watch. These cops had NO prior knowledge of this family and they deside to rip this child out of his mothers arms? What if this child had needs the Mother was trying to protect in panic. What if she was just trying to cling to her child until she could better explain why she couldn't let him go. What if that cop shaking that child HURT HIM? Omg so much is wrong with this. Not to mention just in general how wrong they were to react this drastically in the first place towards this mother.

PLEASE help put a desperate family for Christmas. im a disabled mother of 2 deserving kids with zero resources to even have so much as stocking stuffers. this is a pic of me today. I had an epileptic seizure and hit my head: -( i am a documented disabled single mother. and im so desperate to have any sorta Christmas for my deserving kids. I feel sick and sad that I have to ask strangers for help, but id do anything for my kids. they are straight A kids who do community volunteering and never get in trouble. Disability doesn't allow any extra money for such this like Christmas or even enough money to pay for things like normal human utilities and food. But if you could just donate literally anything would be helpful and a blessing. Please share the go fund me link thats above to anybody you think that would help. thank you soooo very much t

I am sure David Dobrik could make a weekly show on Netflix, and i am kinda hurt. David and the squad, is much more relevant than an old friends show The Vlogsquad has a unique way to make many millions young people happy every week. And David do it with a small budget No writer's Him self editing And Netflix was the place, i thought they would give him + all us that like the content (following a great group of real friends, living there daily life. Hopefully soon someone will pick him up. He's filmed with a lot of huge stars, also just as a host with Jennifer Lopez go an see it, ask your kids. Its easy to learn a little more about this funny dude. Sorry about my English

Personally (FROM WHAT THE VIDEO SHOWS) I am on the cops side ONLY IF the women was resisting arrest and rolling on the floor clutching her child (after not listening to officers requests) then they were completely justified. Pointing a taser at a screaming crowd that're interfering with their job is legitimate show of force to try and get them to back off to prevent a potentially worse situation. It all depends on what happened once the cops got there (which they never showed) But if she was complying with officers requests and then they threw her on the ground like a rag doll then that is totally different. IMO, we need to see what happened once the cops arrived.

People (such as Jazmine Headly) who have children they perpetually cannot afford/care for should be shamed. The only part that I saw where the cops were out of line is when they start shaking the baby while trying to pull it away from the mom. Next time they should either wait her out (she has to sleep sometime) or stun her ass. The human resources officer is probably the most at fault for this specific situation though; why not just let her keep sitting? And it turns out she is a also criminal. evading credit card fraud charges? Yeah, there's no way they should let her off the hook for that because the NYP acted slightly inappropriately.

I believe it was either radiolab or invisibilia that did an episode recently about the effects these types of drills can have on a school. The fear is real and can cause PTSD in teachers and students. It's actually been shown to have made reactions to real active shooter situations worse because now they are reliving a trauma, and reactions are impacted negatively. I agree people need to be prepared for what to do but these drills are doing nothing to help the situation. Telling students this is not a drill so they will 'take it more seriously' is only causing harm by making people fear for their lives.

Honestly, as dark as it is, this is probably the best thing that could've come from those drills. Now, the school knows that the student body is really quite useless at following set drills when the fear sets in. Their brains shut down, and all previous plans and practice runs become meaningless to them. Hell, they can't even think, they're so terrified. So, Now, when the real thing happens, they can better prepare for corralling the droves of panic-stricken teens; y'know, so they don't mindlessly stomp their fellow classmates as if their very lives depended on it. Literally, apparently.
