I think the outcry against vaping is based on just textbook fear-mongering. There is little to no evidence that straight nicotine vaping is causing any kind of lung illnesses. People have been vaping for YEARS and have no adverse health affects. It was only until recently that teenagers who don't know any better starting using black market THC/CBD pods that were unregulated that we started seeing illnesses. I myself use Mint Juul pods and have for over a year. With the looming ban of Mint pods that is coming very soon, I honestly don't know what I will do. If I am able to get them from Canada, I will, but only if it is legal to have a friend send them to me. I don't want to go back to cigarettes, so I'll probably end up just quiting, which don't get me wrong, is a good thing, but as cliche as it sounds, it helps take the edge off the same way having a drink after a long day at work does. I think that the Trump administration is jumping the gun on this issue without the proper research to back their ban. Hopefully the CDC or another respected health organization with release a study showing that striagt nictoine vapes are not causing any health concerns. Theres probably a good amont of lobby from Altria and other players in Big Tobacco the try and cut out the vaping market because of how much it is hurting them. You think that Altria bought 35% of Juul just for the health of it? It seems like a hostile take over to me, that way they can take control of the company and break it down from the inside. It makes senese that they want to destroy the company that is bringing them to their knees, and bring back the customers that they lost. Plus, it's not like any dies from cigarettes or alcohol every day. it just seems like ill-infromed people making decisions that at the end of the day are going to hurt rather than help.

Hey Phil & team, could you cover whats happening in Barcelona? 2 years ago the Catalan parlament did an illegal referendum (just like the one Scotland did) to see if the majority of Catalans wanted independence from Spain. Since the Spanish government saw it as illegal, they arrested 9 people: leaders of the referendum and members of democratic parties and two peaceful activists (and the president of Catalunya had to flee and ask for exile in Belgium. Since then, they have been in jail. Imagine being in jail for over 2 years (waiting for a trial) in a democratic first-world country just because your ideology is different. So this past week the sentence was made. 9-12 years in prison. All together build up to 99 years in prison. Since this sentence was known, people have taken the streets and police brutality has been crazy. They have used illegal methods (such as rubber bullets, teargas) and there have been many injured (a man lost his eye, another one lost a testicle due to the heavy beating in hands of policemen)I would really really appreciate if you could investigate on the matter and bring some attention to all this crazyness. Thank you for all you do

As a Londoner I will be protesting against Brexit today. I do not think that it is in the country's interest to leave a huge trading block which is geographically close has strong and historic socio-political closeness. A trade deal with the US would be welcomed but is ultimately lead to less trade than with the EU and we will be negotiating with the US from a position of weakness. We will have less influence in the matters of Europe and will begin Brexit with equivalent trade arrangements as some of the most economically deprived nations like Afghanistan once this passes. Brexit is supposed to be a way to control borders, cut regulation and retain sovereignty but regulation keeps our politicians in check, sovereignty will erode with covenants on any future trade deals as we have to align legislation with US, Australia etc and most immigration atm in the UK is non-EU, which we have full control over. The EU has been used as a scapegoat during the UK's troubled times and so people have voted to leave but I hope that the majority has realised that is has been a farce and we get a second referendum

I was a smoker for almost 30 years, smoked a pack a day. If it wasn't for vaping I would never have been able to quit. Nicotine is not the only thing that makes cigs addictive. All the chemicals in the tobacco, paper and especially the glue make cigs a million times worse than vaping. I like chocolate and tobacco flavors myself. After starting vaping I immediately started feeling better, could breath better and started to taste things again. I think vaping is critical for helping smokers quit. It makes me sad that anyone would consider starting smoking or vaping in this day in age with all the information we have on it. Kids are always going to be doing something, it doesn't matter if there are flavors or not. I think the most important thing here is to do your homework and buy from trust worthy suppliers and never from black market or unknown internet sources. The more the government makes light on this situation the more kids are going to want to do it. It is simple classic teenage rebellious attitude.

I used vaping to quit smoking. Not only that, but I was there when vaping pens hit the market. They sucked, they broke constantly, were expensive as hell to replace. I'd go back and forth between vaping and cigarettes for YEARS Finally mods hit the market, replaceable parts were easy and cheaper to replace when used up or broken. Vape shops sprung up everywhere, oils became plentiful, as did the amount of flavors. Finding the right flavor, for me, was the number 1 essential reason I could stick with vaping and eventually quit nicotine all together. 20+ years of smoking, and im finally free from its grip on my soul. So in conclusion, flavors help adults quit. Tabacco doesn't want ppl to quit. This is an orchestrated hit against vaping and I find it disturbing. Im glad I was able to quit before all this mess with the government intervening. Feel bad for anyone unable to quit because of this meddling. Cigarettes have killed how many compared to vaping? Are you kidding me?

I feel like the only real reason Juul is getting picked on is due to the fact that it offers flavors which are more appealing than the ones created by tobacco companies currently. By that mean that they have the ability to deliver nicotine, but offer fruit flavors aside from menthol or the less interesting flavors offered by traditional cigarettes opening them up to a potentially larger market by drawing in more attention. Think of how appealing it would be if they were able to make thc containing cartridges in the future if/when cannabis were legalized nationally, how many people would be interested in the unique flavors that don't stink out a location. I see this as an attempt to force them out of the market, or at least crush them down to make them a non competitor while traditional tobacco companies attempt to either buy them out, or develop their own offerings with a larger distribution network.

i'm from ireland (south) and i'm 16, i'm interested in politics but i feel like i've been forced to know about it and talk about it by what's happening in england and this hard border is ridiculous, the six county's in the north are ireland, when england colonized we had to fight tooth and nail to get the county's we have and this is causing more conflict and creating even more of an us vs them dynamic and separating those in the North from the rest of ireland, there should be no hard border, there should be no border checks, there should be no brexit, we have a school trip coming up where we go to the north to visit the parliament buildings and there will be no issue this year but next year that trip won't be able to happen if the hard border gets put in place, it's affecting the every day lives of people in the north and the south and it's ridiculous

I'm 18 and also not in the US but over the last two years I really got into vaping with my mates, some of who are still underage and it's really not the flavours that drew us in. I've tried smoking cigarettes and I hate it and won't ever try it again. Vaping however is much smoother and, regardless of flavor, much easier to stomach in my opinion. I've got off vaping in my free time now however when I'm go back to see that group of friends (about once every 1 or 2 months) I still vape with them. I think that the flavor definitely had some role in me getting into it because like I said before I hate cigarettes and the taste still makes me gag however I don't think it played as much of a role as how smooth and easy it is to get a buzz from. Peer pressure is also a great factor in why I started, but I think that gos without saying.

The EU needs to adopt a 3-nos stance to dealing with the UK. No deal. No trade. No delay. Also, the UK should give up NI and allow Ireland to reunite, as that is the only real solution. Also, the EU should offer the newly vacant seat to to Scotland, should it decide to leave the UK. The Irish question should be tied to any trade deal the UK will be offered by the EU. The EU should demand no Visa free travel to/from the UK and no long term Visa's allowed. The ball is in Brussel's court. The EU does not need to the UK. The EU trades with China and other nations of more importance than the UK. The UK can apply for statehood at this point. Any trade deal with the US must include the NHS, per Trump. What that means is anyone's guess. Probably have to eliminate it as they will no longer be able to afford it.
