WOW Obama's Cancel Culture Call-Out, Harley Quinn, Twitter vs Facebook Election Controversy & More Eileen the Crow: Hell yes the city should pay for it. I'm about as small government as a person can be without endorsing anarchy, and I 100% support taking this as far as it can go in court. The city owes him 100% of the cost to repair or replace (whichever is less) + temporary housing coverage at a reasonable priced hotel or similar option. If I were to crash my car into the house of someone without insurance they could sue me to pay for damages, no? So why the hell does the city, who's entire purpose is supposed to be protecting it's citizens, get a free pass to wreck private property without compensation.

Holy Seacat batman This dude booked it out of a Wal Mart (shoplifting, jukes across 6 lanes of 70mph traffic, hops a fence, busts into a house, barricades himself, and only trips up when a car won't start. Then the police break out tanks, teargas, SWAT team, and they run away from a pistol shot? Only to hit him with more rounds and freaking rocket launchers until finally they get Seacat. Train this man to be the next Terminator and put him on Seal Team 6. Homie got 100 years in prison for shop lifting and running like a beast. Seriously, this guy has some martial and physical prowess that we must utilize to save humanity. He's Mr. Incredible up in here. The cops need to hire him as a training module because apparently one pistol is enough to create a 16 hour standoff because Seacat is a SeaBEAST. Also, the state should buy them a new damn house. Shooting tear gas grenades blowing up their Xbox 420 like a buncha damn amateurs. Next time just snipe the dude and be done with it, geeze. ya know. if ya can SEACAT 4 LIFE

I live in Denver, and this is absolutely ridiculous The cost of living here is already sky high, you add in losing your home because the police blew it up? Out of the question. To come back from this if they do fight is going to take so much more. IF I'm correct on the area of GWV, there are 2 neighborhoods by the same name, it's an up-and-coming neighborhood. There so many developments being built, the value that they will be losing in time fighting this case is a very large number. .. That poor kid too, no 9 year old should have to go through that trauma and be displaced from his home on top of it.

The state moved entirely too fast in attempting to resolved this barricaded suspect from this house. The only urgency was the states time and effort to wait while the 'suspect' got hungry, tired and board. The state should have waited this guy out and therefore state should pay for all damages and make this homeowner whole (and the insurance company as well) plus pay for all the legal fees involved. Oh and the police commander on the scene should not be allowed to work in law enforcement in any capacity ever again.

I think theres something missed here regarding the question of the city needing to pay for the house. The court case wasnt should the city pay for the house period. It was should the city pay for the house under the rules of the fifth amendment. Dont get me wrong the city should pay for the house and all legal costs maybe even some punitive costs. While I still disagree with the ruling I can see the same ruling being passed down in appeals if they continue with the 5th amendment ruling. Id say go civil case route.

i dont know anyone who can defend the police and the city who isnt getting their pockets filled with money. this situation is just wrong. 5k? are you joking? LOL THAT HAS TO BE A JOKE. were not talking about replacing a few electronics. its a freckin house. and how is the city not liable for damage they cause to civilians property when it was the decision on behalf of the city to destroy that property. fight the case. change a law if you have to. cause that shit is definitely not okay.

The city is putting a really deceptive spin on their stance. The man isn't sueing them for illegally entering his home to chase the suspect, he just wants them to be responsible for the damage. He isnt arguing life is more important than property, hes saying that the government is responsible for paying for the damage they cause like any citizen or company would be. Their spi inf the truth like that for people that take that statement at face value is pretty disgusting imho.

I totally agree with Obama here and I think that's something you can agree on, no matter if you liked his political agenda during his presidency or not. We all have or differences but also share other values. If we just call each other out for different opinions or past mistakes we will just hate on each other all the time for the dumbest stuff. Instead we should hear each other out and respect each other more. Standing together is always better than pure isolation and ignorance.

Well shouldnt he go after who the police were after? He in-tern caused the damage to occur to the house. he just had to give himself up, like a normal person would, and the damage wouldn't have happened. its not like they waited 2 mins after calling come out with your hands up to him and then pulled the walls down. this was a 19 hour ordeal he had many many many chances. Police did what they're supposed to do, get the dangerous criminals off the streets.

moral of the home destruction story: don't spend 600, 000 on a home. there is no guarantee you'll keep it or any relative value. it's not the government's duty to protect your home. it's not the government's duty to avoid destroying your home. instead, spend 350, 000 on the home, then 250, 000 on security. government won't risk destroying a home which still has others inside, because then they'll actually be liable for their shitty actions.
