WOW H3H3 BTS KPOP Controversy & Backlash, Walmart Santa Apology, New Zealand Volcano, & India Bill Dora Dobrican: I'm gonna preface this by saying I'm a K-Pop fan, but not necessarily BTS in particular. I used to really enjoy Ethan's content a while back (hasn't really been my thing lately) and I was kind of surprised to see him be so. mean? about BTS. I get that it's his brand or whatever but it's one thing to make a joke about them and a completely different thing for that joke to be homophobic and racist at the same time. I would've been fine with it if he'd apologised, but then bringing the idols who committed suicide into it was extremely insensitive. Yes, we know it was partially the constant hate that drove them to it (among other things, Goo Hara was in an abusive relationship and authorities did nothing about it, but most people, especially in the Western side of the fandom, were absolutely devastated by the news. It's been two years since Jonghyun's death and we still aren't over it. All K-Pop stans ever do to y'all is spam videos of people dancing, and it's literally only to annoy people who don't have anything better to do but (ugh I hate using this term) hate on K-Pop online, and it seems to be working because y'all really take it to heart lmao

It scares me that people are excusing how that guy was, if not racist, highly xenophobic. Sure that guy didnt outright say racist slurs but the mentality that eastern music being a thing in the west is mind boggling reeks of a superiority complex. And dont say its cause kpop sucks cause edgy people go out of their way to constantly shit on kpop artists which isnt normal. I am not a fan of metal but Im not gonna say rude things about my taste online. Also he literally made lewd remarks about young females jerking off to twnks. How are you guys able to defend him? You guys will excuse bullying of teenagers over anything and specially if they find pretty men attractive. Weve seen this happen with Justin Bieber, One Direction, even Beatles fans. And usually these fans are just loud in their own part of social network, as long as you just dont mention them they leave you alone. And yes, fancams are extremely annoying, I agree, but videos which you can ignore easily doesnt give you the right to make derogatory remarks about the artist or young girls. Its weird that people arent at least calling him out on his bad choice of words.

The bill in India sounds ludicrously similar to measures enacted in Germany leading up to WWII. To say nothing of all the other terrifying authoritative or nationalistic regime changes throughout history. It's scary, and sad. In a world where we, as a human race, have an unprecedented number of tools at our disposal with which to uncover the motivations and concerns of our fellow man - we choose instead, en masse, to tear one another down or instead to comfort ourselves in an echo chamber of our own concerns, fears, and bitter resentments. I hope this bill doesn't pass. That those protesting it are heard. I also hope we see the pendulum swinging the other direction next year, because the consistent rise in nationalism around the world over the past couple years has been freaking depressing. And now. Back to our regularly planned debate over Phil's favourite K-pop star

I am an Indian citizen living in India. This is a very serious issue in the country. The NRC which you mentioned which took place in Assam and resulted in 2 million people being excluded from the list, most of those 2 million people were Hindus even a close relative of a former President was excluded from the list. The BJP then said that the NRC was not valid and hence they will take no action against the 2 million people excluded from the list. In my opinion, the citizenship amendment bill is a way to provide the non-muslim people from Assam who were excluded from the list a valid citizenship of India and hence, will garner the Hindu vote for the BJP and also make it easier for the pro Hindu government to deport Muslims out of the country.

Kpop like any other genre of music has its good and not so good fans. But to single out Kpop is so retarded, I don't even know where to begin with this Neanderthal Ethan. Typical ignorant Klan clown who knows nothing about Korean pop music except for the little bits of false info and half truths he probably read from a article by some middle aged white male reporter who probably disdains it himself but due to the rising popularity of Kpop was sent on a work assignment to cover it and instead of doing some diligent research, his lazy self took the shortcut and just wrote generalities of the genre based also on some hearsay. And this is how stereotypes, false rumors, generalities, etc all begin.

interesting how ethans take on the kpop INDUSTRY becomes a problem but consuming the product and forgetting its origin isnt. ethan criticizes it the way he does. bold and contoversial. and yes i was amused. times changed but kpop heavily reminds me of the business of 90s boybands and the sickening pedophile masterminds behind them. id even say kpop industry is worse. not in terms of pedophilia in management (while the audience. ehmm not so sure) but just because the perfectionistic south korean beauty standards and workethic and the suicides within the industry. its always clever to check where your goods come from. not just food and clothes but also your pop culture products. go ethan

I strongly disliked what H3H3 said about Kpop. I don't find it to be that way at all but he is entitled to his opinion even though he definitely was being a jerk about it. However, throwing the suicides in the face of stans was definitely uncalled for. It's a very serious thing that the community is trying it's best to address. He also puts the blame solely on netizens even though there is also a clear cultural difference that has resulted in South Korea having one of the highest suicide rates in the world. I just thought that statement was extremely short sighted. It kind of seems like H3H3 is looking for attention at this point and it kind of makes me sad.

For the most part I have no problem for what he said because fandom for pop stars does go crazy. but when he started out by saying, How did this become a thing in western culture? It does come off as racist. Because honestly how is BTS different from New Direction or N'sync, backstreet boys, new kids on the block, Menudo, and the jackson 5? They're young handsome men who can sing and dance and became internationally famous. Only now they're Korean. I can take a joke but if people find offence, can he analyze where his joke came from? You can blow it off and call people cry babies but what about a bit of self reflection? If not racist what about toxic masculinity?

Regarding BTS and H3H3: It's 2019, we all very much know what stuff is offensive to what fandoms. Having that full knowledge of that Ethan goes ahead and intentionally says something which will piss them off. That IS disrespectful. If this was the first times people were getting mad on something they love, Ethan could be excused for not knowing better. And then doubling down on: If you don't see it my way, you are jerking off to them; that is a dumber move. Just because you are a Comedian doesn't mean you get a free pass to piss everyone off. You don't have to worship them, but how about a little bit of consideration.

Damn, I love kpop and H3H3. Though Ethan has been showing a lot of unpleasant sides to him, as he mainly relies on his podcasts now, rather than scripted videos. But, I still support him, he can have an opinion on kpop. He's old, he's straight and he's not that into physical beauty or fandom culture. Of course kpop won't be his thing, but how he said it is bad. And let's not pretend that many kpop fans, don't slightly fetishize Korean beauty and their biases. I am in many fandoms, you really can't deny that the aesthetic is being fetishized at the very least. It's no different from Justin Bieber fans, in some cases.
