Re: influencers receiving home visits.
It is certainly verging on the hypocritical for someone who claims to be an influencer and then fails to understand or address the influence they do have in the content they provide. Referring to their viewers as friends, telling them they love them, even the act of asking for something ( smash that like! , it is virtually certain that a small portion of their viewers will form a (parasocial) bond with the influencer, allowing them to see a relationship which does not exist. Indeed, this can be seen as worse than that because the influencer can be seen to be actively presenting themselves as open and available for such a relationship in the manner and method of the content they provide. It also may not be going that far to suggest that influencers seek to ferment a sort of relationship with their viewers, but do so in such a way without understanding of the harm is may cause, both to themselves and their viewers.
Influencers not even taking the slightest responsibility for the results of how they present their content belies their lack of knowledge, understand or interest in psychology, sociology, history or the negative effect of social media and new media.

I'm deeply worried by the presumption of Blake's innocence based solely on a few seconds of video and the testimony of a witness that barely saw or heard anything. Aside from any moral quandary about proportionate response from protesters, aside from the untenable position for officers who are judged by only a few seconds by a mob of untrained and violent hearsay protesters, and aside from the damage you do to your personal sanity by refusing rational skepticism, you also have large sections of the black people being alienated into a deep division that not only the black community cannot afford but that America's future cannot afford. Democracy is on the line, and the more people we have who cannot resolve their personal discomfort for the sake of unity the more authoritarianism and disinformation will get a pass for the sake of defiance.
In short, this is a cycle of violence, and I think a lot of the people participating are ignoring their own role in it, despite being hypothetically familiar with the danger of bandwagoning and the fact that they only stand to lose from its continuation whereas their mortal enemies stand to gain.

LeBron James is 100% right. It's bonkers to me that police in the USA feel justified to pull out guns to deal with situations of any severity. Why is it that so many other countries are able to subdue armed folks (and unarmed folks) carrying knives and not firearms without using firearms? Likely because it's rarer to have those situations (which is a statement in and of itself, but looking at some of the numbers it still doesn't justify what's happening in the US. It rarely (relatively) happens in Australia (73 fatal between 2000-2017, Netherlands (20 between 2009-2015, Norway (2 between 2002-2014, England (27 between 2004-2016) + more. USA? 6, 837 between 2013-2018. You could argue but theres more people in USA so theres more shootings. Okay let's test that. Let's take the largest population listed above (should result in the most conservative result): England at 56 million. USA population is 6x larger. Yet the number of fatal shootings by police in USA is 253x larger. These are rough due to different time spans but it won't change much even if you adjust to it - the point will stand.

Please bring light to Anthony McClains death! It happened in Pasadena last Saturday night!
He was unarmed and targeted by police. They pulled him and his friend over. They pulled them over for a vehicle code violation
They asked to search the car because Anthony was known for speaking out against police. His record with them in no way diminishes the activism Anthony took part in.
So he ran. Police shot him. In front of children. Then while he was down. They shot him two more times.
He was still breathing.
Officers kneeled on him while handcuffing him. They held his body in such a way, while kneeling on him, that caused him to bleed out.
His blood still stains the grass
Anthony McClain was 32 and a father.

Its like people are trying to argue that the officers knew of his past and in that moment made a calculated decision based on that
No this is not what happened
They were called they showed up
Tased Jacob Blake
They were to incompetent to detain him before going to his car
And procceded to shoot him
not once
not twice
not trice
not four
not five
not six
But SEVEN times
They shot a tased suspect that they could have detained at any point in time 7 times
U cannot justify this they are suppose to detain not kill him and as far as we know they weren't even called because of him
This isnt how law enforcement should be doing their job
U cant make this shit up if you wanted to

There is a second video of the incident with Blake from another angle. No audio, and it is very badly filmed, but it does show more of the situation. I still don; t think 7 shots to the back was any kind of necessary force.
Here is something I wonder about. Police always seem focused on getting a suspects hands cuffed behind their back. Why not just start cuffing anything you can get your hand on? Cuff a leg to the wheel of the cruiser. Cuff a hand to an ankle. Cuff an ankle to a belt. Any of these would make it impossible to escape, and allow the arrested person to wear themselves out with struggling while the officer could get some breathing room and possibly time to reason with the arrested person.

So what I am getting here is that the police assumes that their suspects have guns because that is a common thing over there and that is why they use excessive force but no one is willing to regulate that or outright ban them. I mean they are already talking about a different case in which someone managed to reach their car to pull out their weapon and wound an officer which created a precedent of someone having a weapon within reach while still being unarmed which probably makes the police tell their officers in their training 'assume the worst and shoot first. Then add racism in that mix and you probably get something like 'especially if they are a person of colour'.

I don't normally comment on you show Phil, but this one is the last straw for me.
Do I think the officers involved could have acted a different way? Sure, is 8 shots in the back excessive? Absolutely. But when a cop tells you to freeze and you not only disregard the order AND then proceed to reach into a vehicle, you are forcing the officer to act. He forced the officers to engage! I don't care rhe color of your skin! To be sure, a black man living in America today would be MORE inclined to obey an officer so they don't get shot!
Is there racism in America? Yes! But this situation was FORCED by the man being shot.

Ok, so this is two sided:
On one end, the first rule of interacting with police is to keep your hands visible. If you reach somewhere they can t see, especially without declaring what you re trying to do, you become a potential threat. His worst move was reaching into the car. Especially if he already had taken a taser shot
That said, 7 shots in the back is excessive by any measurement. This amount is what you would expect from an officer who has seen a gun being drawn. If this is the case, that may be legitimate, but from what we ve been told so far this is not the case
