My brother juts went through a similar surgery today 10/2022 (large colon twisted, who has been going through cancer treatment and had spinal surgery because of neurotrophy in December. With all of this and now this surgery, I know depression is really going to take affect especially - when he wakes up knowing he'll have to wear a bag because part of his large intestines was removed. Not sure if it will be temporarily or permanently. We don't know and won't know for a while.
He has been pushing forward working out 4 times a week to build strength and to build muscle. I am so fearful of his reaction. Because he still works and will probably want to go back to the gym, I really like to get him the velcro waistband you're wearing ASAP. What is the brand and where can I order it?
Also, does medical insurance cover the medical supply needed (bags, wipes, powder) etc?
I hope you can reply to this very soon if you are still involved in sharing

My husband is having tomorrow his 3rd surgery, back on an ileostomy and his colon will be completely removed. Sin July his condition deteriorated so rapidly and the pain has been excruciating. Never before he took painkillers to be able to get a few hours to sleep, but this time he couldn't. In 2016 around April he had an emergency surgery and had the first ileostomy. Then a reversal. But now his condition has deteriorated so much so he wanted to have the ostomy forever. It wasn't an easy decision and he has had fears. But your video was inspirational and he misses exercising, he was amazed to see that others have crossed the same path before and have achieved more than even imagined. Thank you for inspiring!

Love your mindset and videos, which I would like to pass on to my patients. Can we connect? I invented a device -bespoke stoma seal- designed for each unique patient to fit different peristomal topography. Using 3D scanner and 3D printing. Works best with active patients, by reducing leak, so would like to bring to osteomates. Perhaps you could help. Dr Jason Tan, Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon.

Hey mate I am going to go in for stoma surgery tomorrow and the thing that-s really worrying me is that they have said I won-t be able to lift over 12kg again without giving myself hernia. My job is very physical and I have young kids that I love to pick up and hug is this something that I will be able to get around in time with training and exercise or is what the doctors telling me how it is?

I am not trying to be funny, I am asking honestly: what does a stoma have to do with a parking spot? How does this effect the distance you have to traverse from your car to a store? This question is not implying it is not a disability, but what is the relevance to driving or walking from a parking lot to a store - particularly as a trainer who does heavy workouts daily?

My cousin has a had a colostomy since birth and now wants sort of have the confidence to go to the gym. The problem we have is that he struggles with his food as most foods effect a cut that never seems to heal. Is there anything we can do to help him? Sorry about the grammar.

A good video, thanks for sharing. I had emergency surgery last year for a twisted bowel (I'm 8 months on from surgery. Thankfully I didn't end up with a stoma bag, but I may need to get one in the future if symptoms return. But I'm not worried, what will be, will be.

Even though your a handsome man on the outside your true beauty is on the inside. Showing others that you are able to rise to a challenge and beat it is such an important and selfless act. I love the fact that your girlfriend see you for you. Not many like that.

-Not every disability has visibility- that-s such a powerful statement. Glad he has gone on and done something with his life but also support and impact other people-s lives that experience similar adversities! What a legend!

Amazing how many people have a stoma. Actually you don't need the bag if you irrigate your stoma every couple of days. A mate of mine does that and he has given up the bag. Great that you are now doing so well

I got a stoma in December of 2019, my son was born on the same day 10 weeks early and I didn't even get to meet him until 24 hours later. It was a tough time but now I'm so grateful for my bag, it saved my life

I get that there are invisible disabilities, I have one. But disabled parking spots are specifically for people who can't walk very far and I don't see how an ostomy bag requires a disabled parking spot.

While the man is extremely admirable. A little warning would be great. Seeing a part of intestine outside of the human body is a bit jarring (especially when you're eating. :/

description is wrong. Ulcerative Colitis is an Inflammatory Bowel Disease not an -irritable- bowel syndrome. Huge difference.
