I used to stammer terribly as a child and was too shy and too embarrassed to speak much of the time in school. I also had extremely high expectations imposed on me by my strict, ambitious parents and was in special education for children who need more of a challenge in school, so I didn't know how to tell them that I was struggling with something they would define as -basic-, like regular conversational speech. So I just. didn't get help. I eventually read a few things online when the internet became more available to me, and I took advice about taking pauses when I could feel the stammer coming on/once it started. I was lucky enough that it helped me significantly. By the end of high school, I still had the stammer happen once every few sentences in conversation, but especially with small pauses, it probably wasn't that noticeable to most people. They probably just thought my speaking patterns were a bit strange. I almost never got asked about it by that point. Today, I do occasionally still stammer, and I still use pauses to help me overcome them. Most people I tell about my stammer say they would never have known until I pointed it out. I notice that it happens far more often when I am dealing with increased anxiety or generally stressed out. I know pausing doesn't work for everyone. I'd be interested to hear from people about more techniques that have worked for them. I have a lot of empathy with anyone who has any kind of speech issue. It can really hit your confidence and make basic communication a struggle.

I wish I had friends that were like me. People who don-t stammer. My friends don-t bully me, they allow me to finish the sentence and they all speak fluently. But I do wish I had people who could relate to me more because sometimes I feel like crap after I try to bring out words and I stammer throughout and my eyes look up to the side which helps me bring out the words.

I've always been interested in how stuttering actually happens. How does it happen exactly? - I feel for her I really do. She's such a lovely lady. - If I had it like this I don't think I'd ever speak to anyone. She is incredible! There is an older lady I work with who has a similar condition and I just feel so sad for these people. It can't be easy.

She reminds me of my neighbour friend a long time ago who had a stutter (-stammer-
- is called -stutter- in Australia. I accepted her as she was, she was also a very friendly beautiful person. I saw her challenges and I think it-s ok to be different, it makes you special and unique -

I'm so proud of her that she's talking now and she can communicate with others and someone with others in some ways even if it takes her a longer to say what she used to say people should be patients and be patience and they should never make fun of her because they wish to talk

I just met online with stammering disorder today through language exchange app. He didn't explain his way of speech but I knew it right away. I am amazed with his dedication in learning English.

I also suffer from this stuttering problem, not so extreme as her tho but still. It's kinda genetic. My father suggested that trying to speak really slowly helps to reduce it. It's difficult.

This was a good one, kudos to her for putting herself out there, especially in a world that's so ill-mannered.
