ELLAHE Haghani from Iran, was born with Sturge Weber syndrome - a rare vascular disorder that-s marked by a distinctive port-wine stain on the face. She told Truly: -When I was born it was just a discoloration to the right side, but as I grew the soft tissue began to grow and became bigger and thicker. - Having a facial difference affected Ellahe-s confidence and people would often stare at her, some even said she shouldn-t come out of the house. -It wasn-t easy for me. My birthmark did hold me back, - she explained. Doctors were too afraid to operate on Ellahe as it was deemed too risky, but that all changed when she was introduced to Dr Hamid Adib. He brought Ellahe over to the US and put her in touch with Dr Milton Waner and his team, who were able to help. So far, she-s had 25 operations and is forever grateful for the life-changing surgery. Speaking about her appearance, Ellahe said: -When I look at myself in the mirror, I love the way I look. In my own eyes, I see myself as perfect

Kudos to her for not staying inside like the trolls said. Her courage helped her meet the doc that networked her with others that were able to help her.
I was a freak as a kid bc I did not have a birthmark. I'd pester my mom as to why I didn't have a -mark to my birth- and blag blah. She would be like -erm, ur standing here- proof enough one would think, ha.

this 8s not sturge weber syndrome. if it was she would have experienced seizures and would have had to undergo hemispherectomy to stop any seizure activity
this is most likely klippel tranauney syndrome which includes vascular distribution and expansion in and on the skin. it can also cause overgrowth of affected areas because of the increased vasculature

The people who say you shouldn't leave the house are the people WHO REALLY shouldn't leave the house. Your a beautiful brave young lady, I am so glad you were in the right place at the right time when you met your doctor. Do not let hateful words get to you. They are coming from some of the most insecure people you will ever meet.

This girl is so courageous, and positive. We are all ready to run to the dermatologist if we have a few dark spots on our face. We need to stop being so Vien, and realize there are so many people that are dealing with serious skin conditions. She's a strong woman, and she will overcome anything life hands her.

I also have sturges weber over my right eye and forehead and now double glaucoma. You are an amazing and brave girl. No one knows what its like to have a disfigurement like SWS. I wish you much health and happiness in your life. You are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story x

If people are gonna judge her because of how she looks, that's just terrible. How you look doesn't mean that you're a bad person. She seems really sweet and I'm glad that she got help from doctors.
I wish you happiness, Ellahe

I can-t believe the other doctors wouldn-t do anything for her, she lost her eyesight. I can-t imagine how painful it must have been to have your retina detach. I-m glad she found a doctor who could help her.

These stories always seem to highlight exceptional good on a backdrop of human apathy and cruelty.
This needs to change. Empathy should be the norm.

Maybe she shouldn't leave the house without makeup. There's kids outside that don't need to be exposed to that
reply

A girl over here has the same condition even worse, but most people don't threat her different luckily.
