We are not trying to -look japanese- - hooked on the look

CALLING THEMSELVES the 'rainbow squad', this group of colourful individuals in Paris became friends after sharing the same passion for the Japanese alternative fashion. Coco, one member of the rainbow squad, said: Wearing decora fashion makes me express that weirdness that's inside of me. Covered in bright and shiny accessories from head to toe, they certainly turn heads and catch everyone's attention wherever they go. But the attention isn't always pleasant - the group said that people often take photos of them without asking for permission or get defensive if they refuse to be photographed. Qween Emi said some of the judgement she has received comes from her own community, with people accusing her of 'acting white' and 'not being a real black person'. I think most of the time it is racism, the problem with me, she added. Although their fashion isn't appreciated by everyone, the group is proud of being their authentic selves. We just embrace our weirdness and our creativity. It's not cultural appropriation, no

While the super colorful and extreme makeup art isn't my personal style (I prefer egg shell or cream, earth tones, black, and wine red or dark purple, I'm glad that people can embrace their creative sides and wear what they want. It's different and unique, just like they are! - -
Also that mint green color is amazing with her skin tone. Any pastels would be lovely I think, but she wears mint green SO well! (If you ever go more natural, a beautiful sage green would also be lovely I think too)

They have a point
People who use harujuku fashion are not trying ti be Japanese.
I love the culture and fashion.
And I hope I get my courage to go further
I live in a small area
I live in shropshire which is actually the most less diversed place in the uk
So it-s really hard to go out in what I love. When I go down to my dads which he lives near Bournemouth that-s one very popular area and I-ve seen so many alternative people there I love going there

This looks fun and harmless (except for those very high heels, that seems a bit dangerous, lol. People taking their pictures without asking first is respectless. It's also strange that people accuse them of trying to look japanese when this style doesn't make you look japanese in the slightest imo. I can how understand how dressing like this makes you happy because it makes me happy to look at it.

Imagine spending your time hating on people for living their best life. I enjoy just throwing on whatever simple clothing I have, but seeing people wear alternative styles (being able to express themselves in the way they love) makes my day a little bit better. Happiness should be contagious, not enraging.

Almost every story at truly should have a disclaimer that says:

Just call yourselfs cosplay nerds and get on with it. Another branch of bored young people's cosplay

It's called Harajuku and it started in 1980s in Japan which is why it's linked to looking -Japanese- but it's not a culture. It's a form of fashion. They can wear whatever they want. Im not sure why they need anyone's approval because it's not harming anyone.
reply

If you-re contributing to society and you feel happy, then wear what you want! It-s fun and inoffensive so why would anyone be upset! Is it a bit clowny? Sure! But a clown just won Drag Race All Stars and is a super successful performer!

-But I'm from New York! - Being from a place that scams you into taking pics with elmo or Spiderman and then they ask you to pay after the pics are taken does not mean you're entitled to take pics with anyone who looks cool
reply

How are they surprised at people filming/taking pics of them, of course they would. Also -look Japanese- ah yes, every japan person look like they work for a circus.
reply

Its a 1st word problem for your biggest problem is you dress weird. Good for them. As long as they're self supportive and kind to others I say enjoy life.
reply

j'aime pas du tout votre style, c'est vrai que j'aime les couleurs mais la, il y a trop, mais je respecte votre choix, faites comme vous voulez
reply

When you're so cringy that the circus doesn't want you and you're in denial so you walk around hoping for awe but all you get is vomit.

Idg why people in the comments are so pressed. They wear what they like and are happy. Why does it bother your fragile sensibilities?

The whole of the Japanese's population gave a sigh of relief to hear this crew are not attempting to look like them. ----------------
reply

Good, because you don-t look Japanese, and to suggest that you do shows your ignorance about Japanese people and their culture.
