ON THE morning of 6 August 2020, Wells woke up with no idea that this would be the day his life would change forever. Wells was involved in an accident at work after being assigned to a machine he'd never operated before. Wells said: The next thing I know, my hand just gets pulled in. As a reaction, I reached with my right. Both of his hands were pulled into the machine and crushed in seconds. While being treated at the hospital, Wells's wife, Lacey, gave birth to their son. The gravity of the situation was not lost on the new parent: Everybody imagines their son immediately getting placed in their hands and I missed that. Doctors initially tried to save Wells's hands but after weeks of painful skin grafts, Wells eventually opted for amputation. He was soon provided with his first set of prosthetics, which are body-powered, enabling him to open and close his hands by moving each arm forward. These and his other electronic prosthetics have enabled Wells to regain many abilities. Despite everything he's been through, it is clear that Wells has found his purpose in continuing to be the best son, husband and father that he can be: I just want to be happy. and I want my son to be happy and my wife to be happy. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with Wells-s ongoing medical costs - the page can be found here

Please dont not let yourself go out and enjoy the life you still have, so what, they look they stare then they see you dont have your own hands and then they can shut their F-ing mouths. dont worry what others say or think. just you cant do it yourself what else are you supposed to do? its okay though, I think people will understand more than you think, its just human nature to stare and for that I'm sorry. try not to let it get you so down, they just need a life.

Working in warehouses with machinery and heavy equipment most of my life, it makes me angry to know this could have been avoided but his 'supervisor' put him on a machine with no training or safety measures in place. Thankfully I've never had someone in a supervisor role force me to do anything out of my comfort zone where injury could take place. Hoping the best for your future Wells and make sure to take care of your Mental Health!

Guys! You should create a different series, because I feel life -Born Different- has been used for everything now. One series just for those people who had painful obstacles set out in their way, but they overcame them like true champs! You could title it -_-Rising Above-_- or idk creativity is not really my thing -

What does he work now? Did he lose his old job? Did he get compensation for his work injury? Does his wife work? How are they getting by? Is he retired due to physical disbility? There are so many unanswered questions arising from this video, please do a part two!

I'm really mad to hear the guys supervisor put him on a new machine with no training. I worked in a warehouse for a time and something like this was my biggest fear. What a tragedy for everyone.

This man truly has a superhuman will to be independent and succeed! I don't understand why he can use a toothbrush but can't eat with hooks? Wrap yarn around them for traction?

Don't be embarrassed about going out to eat with your wife. I don't think anyone will stare and if someone does it is their problem. They are the problem.

I hope they sued and won millions, even the damage is done. His accident is still very recent. My heart goes out to him. He is such a good dad!

Dude. ur one of the toughest men in the world to go through all the physical and mental anguish u went through and made it to the other side! Wow

I hope he sued the ever loving shit out of that company.
That's incredibly hazardous working conditions and shouldn't be tolerated

I don-t think this should be classified as born different- as it really means you were born with a disability or disfigurement
reply

What a dreadful tragedy! .what a brave man! .what a beautiful family! .awesome warriors! Screw the people that stare. they are idiots!
reply

I hope he got money from his company for the accident since clearly they were at fault for putting him on an unfamiliar machine.
reply

This sounds like an extreme case off -boss f- up big time-. No dangerous machinery should ever be used without proper training
reply

Inspite of the accident you still make a good father and husband. Who cares what society thinks, you're an overcomer.
