I believe the editor is only assuming that scientists give them sugar water. Of which I extremely doubt since sugar water is extremely bad for their health and gives them very little nutrition. Yes I know millions of people do it but that doesn't make it good for them. However honey water is almost the perfect food for them which is made from nectar by bees.

Why not more info and pictures of hummingbirds eating insects for protein. Im sure they could not just survive on carbohydrates because they would have no muscles. All people ever think about is them feeding out of a sugar water feeder. Where I live theres tons of mosquitoes and gnats which Im sure they need just as much sugar water.

With such a high metabolism, how can young hummingchicks survive their early days when they can't fly yet? Their parents surely have their wings full just feeding themselves.

I love sitting on my porch watching the hummingbirds come to my feeder. They're just neat lil bird's. I've always wanted to find a hummingbird nest but never have.

I swear the hummingbirds know my wife ( and the fact she feeds them, showing off for her with displays off aerial acrobatics. Really impressive to watch!
