I'm involved with this equpiment frequently so (hopefully) the majority of the video is something I already know and am familiar with. In regards to your remark regarding centrifugal fans, I'm not entirely sure that was the proper way to describe it. Would it be more fair in your opinion to state that many old and existing ahus use PSC motors and that EC motors are becoming more common? Maybe I'm mistaken but I believe you will still find centrifugal fan designs even with EC motors.

Very good video! There are also other, more effective types of heat-exhangers in AHU's to capture the heat of the extracted air that are more ffective than the one with coils, but it's a very good example. Rotary heat exhangers as an example are very effective, but risk returning smells into the incoming air, but again, there are other variants still.
Cheers on a good video!

Why is the AHU so lengthy with plenty of empty space? Is empty space required to avoid turbulence for example?
Also, are workers worried about the biohazard of working in the AHU dedicated to building bathrooms? Are AHUs carriers of diseases?

Awesome video. Anyone knows if there's an instrument to measure supply air pressure output at the AHU before it enters the main supply duct line? This is to know if the unit is producing enough pressure thrust especially for older units. Thanks

When you talk about the fans you say there are centrifugal type and electronically commutated. What a bizarre dichotomy considering they are describing two completely different parts. Plenty of centrifugal blowers have EC motors on them.

Great video. Everyone's putting there's trade down. I install the ductwork and land and connect ahu's. Have done for 9 year's in hotels and hospitals in the uk. Never seen a fhu. Guess theres alot of dirty air getting pumped around

I am working in a company fabricating AHUs but i was the one whos fabricating the panels in a automation machine process which is it can punch/shear/bend in one system. its very nice thing to hear how this AHUS work.

Service engineer from the Netherlands here. Great video and explaination. I have never seen exhaust units without filter. It is common to have inlet and exhaust filters here. No matter if there is a heating wheel.

Question. Single family home. I had two hvac companies check my ahu. they was working on the wiring. Nothing changed. When its cold, its colder inside than out. When its hot, its hotter inside than out

major difference between FAHU and AHU are FAHU used fresh air take from atmosphere but heat exchange between return air to fresh by thermal wheel. AHU is recirculate air from return air to supply air.

I work on these AHUs every day and in the uk at NHS hospitals we have 40 of them and also air curtains in theatres. Very interesting work although its only 10% of our job. This was a great video.

I've never heard it called a FAHU before. I suppose it depends on the over all system but I usually call them MAU or DOAS these the former implies air is being taken out somewhere else

Was struggling a lot with comprehension and retention of these concepts with my online HVAC courses. This was so easy and well illustrated it solved all my problems. Thank you so much!

Great training video, the only issue I see here is the placement of the coils, heating coils are always in front of the chill water coil to protected them from cold temperatures drops.

I think if FAHU means Fresh air handling unit therefore the difference is that the ventilation cooling load will be much higher since theres no return air involved. Just my guess

Thanks for the vid, understanding hvac systems helps me feel more gratitude for the laborers that work on these systems to make buildings feel comfortable and normal.

FAHU doesn't recirculate the air once supplied, it supplies 100% fresh air
While AHU recirculate the air and can be take 20-30% fresh air

That run around system for heat recovery can also be used in place of that electric pre-heat coil for the 100% OSA/100%RA-EXH systems.

11: 36 isn't it a bit inefficient to have the exhaust grill right next to the intake of the AHU if we don't want recirculation?

Hi, won't the humidifier cause corrosion to the centrifugal/EC type fan as the steam or water mist is directed towards it?

If a humidifier is necessary wouldn't it be smarter to place it after the fan to reduce any additional wear on the equipment?

Greetings. I have a question in 5: 07. Is or can the heating coil be connected to the domestic hot water system?
