Why Dubai's Man-Made Islands Are Still Empty Islands are barriers towards external forces, wether natural or Man-inflicted. It is mentioned, to avoid erosion of the beaches. Besides that, it becomes a shield against any future enemies before they really land on the mainland.
Islands also mark the territory of a nation. No one really knows the other signficances of these barriers as specified by their design and construction, except those who had planned them.
Now, this approach have been adopted by many other nations, for similar purposes. The difference is that, Dubai made them under the guise of attractive tourist attractions. Others made them just as floaters, some say as stopovers for their fishermen.

I remember me was about to be one of those investors, when they tell me what is the business model it was laughable, there was only one building that has apartments for sale and one villa on water, one swiss like villa style and one mansion to promote this business, the mansion costs 150m aed, which is 40m-45m US $, their selling point is that they will use your property the one they sold it for you for renting/hospitality, and your ROI break even point will be in 10 years.

The bad financial forecast and the thought that people will come to make high end investment was just a dream. A dream which should not have happened. Maybe they can salvage it by creating new amusement parks. The money alternatively could have been used to invest in new affordable communities around the world where people were struggling. It shows how when you have money doesn't mean you can foresee the future.

It was a dumb ass idea by dumb ass rich people. So is the whole of Dubai and so is -the Line-. Wont ever work. We should have never paid for all the oil. We should have just chased the few desert dwellers off and taken it. The whole world would be better off. At least whatever we paid these idiots for the oil would have stayed in our pockets.

Throughout history there have been many countries with incredible wealth that have squandered that wealth on opulent buildings and projects. Eventually the wealth always dries up. and those countries that have spent on showpieces instead of infrastructure fade away into the dustbin of history.

It's good for those fat headed rich dummies. Feeding people or fanning the rich. Fanning the rich is more like it. Sand erosion, ecological disasters, lack of irrigation and etc. their heads were too much in the clouds and pompous hearted Muslims ways caught up with them. Good for them!

The developers set the prices too high, making them unaffordable. Dubai's man-made islands are empty due to its prohibitive expenses, inaccessibility, widespread environmental degradation, and killing off the inshore fishing all are the reasons of.

The smart ones were the builders who took that money knowing it wasn't going to end up workable in the long run. The rich Arab sultans or whatever are nothing more than fools with money and excessive grandiloquent dreams.

volcanos make land. the gov't is failing at making artificial sun, and land. SUN AND LAND ARE inherently free, and it really seems to me, that they're tryna control the dispersion of them

so their plan was to sell to people who want to buy really expensive houses in really expensive land where the buildings nearby are made for them to spend more money?

Arrogance is what went wrong -
Biggest farce is Dubai! Dubai is in debt! Kaput! Such pathetic karma they've accumulated! The Burj khalifa is barely 40% occupied!

This would be the greatest destination on Earth. A true experience of a lifetime. Wow going across the world without going across the world.

They should ask the Dutch for advice. They literally build half a country where there was once only water. And nothing is sinking.

The Line in Saudi Arabia feels like a project with just about the same chance at actually succeeding as this debacle.
