European conquest of America - Summary on a Map

Let's retrace here the colonization by Europeans, from the discovery by Christopher Columbus until the end of the Seven Years War Noel: How an Englishman manipulates history, some dates are not right, part of history is ignored (conquest of the west coast by Spain, comments on wars or massacres in South America but ignores the Indian genocide of England which by the way was much worse than in the south, the English piracy.
In the Spanish territories slavery was quickly prohibited, in fact today in Cuba, Mexico Colombia Venezuela you can see how the Spaniards mixed with the natives, that's why mulattoes and varied mixtures exist today.
We can't see that in the USA or Canada, where they even have Indian reservations.
partisan, misleading and politically incorrect video. For common sense I can not recommend it

Forgot to mention that not the British, nor the French, nor the Dutch, got mixed with the local natives (like the Spaniards did) but rather they exterminated all the native indian tribes of North America (you can actually see how they killed all the indians in the Westerns movies.
Today 90% of the population in Mexico is of mixed race (native Americans and Spaniards. In USA and Canada, native American blood hardly accounts for 1% of their population (not counting the native Americans that have come from Latin America.
British, French or Dutch don't mix, they considered indians far inferior to them, therefore exterminate them so they wouldn't interfere with their expansion plans

Good video, but I see several imprecissions, Venice lost power because of the new routes the Portuguese opened with India, and the shift if interest from India to the newly discovered American continent. It was not the Carabela that changed the game, but the advancement of sailing techniques by the Portuguese. England was absolutely irrelevant for the whole 16th century, other than maybe piracy. Drake wasnt the first european in California not at all, and hello, history of Spanish California? Spain did not take over Portugal, it was a dynastic union.

I love the fact that the west is calling this killing and enslaving of the very poor and weak as CONQUERING meanwhile they are crying and try hard calling the fall the great Conquest of Constantinopolis in 1453 which was the most powerful and advanced christian city.
I mean what can we expect from people that are still romanticizing loosers like the crusaders who tried 11 conquest and failed miserably.

I like how Columbuss voyage only occurred because he was wrong about the circumference of the earth. The other monarchs had rejected funding his expedition precisely because their scholars knew perfectly well that the earth was round and roughly how large it was, and knew (correctly) that there was no way that the Indies could be within sailing distance going west.

What? A video titled conquest of America instead of colonization and talks about Spanish laws pushed to protect native american rights, citing instead disease as the reason for their massive decrease in population? Wow. Finally a real information video, not communist historical reinterpretation and black legend propagandas.

Why does the gringo narrator's voice is so painful to hear mispronouncing names in Spanish, so ignorant to be unable to read properly the original names with accurate pronunciation, if latinos Spanish-Speaking people misspelled or mispronounced an English word, we're treated like ignorants, not professional.

Cracks me up how some silly people blame Columbus for spreading disease, as if he did it on purpose. Back then they weren't even aware of the existence of germs, but these people think Columbus should've thought of the danger of him spreading disease. lol

that is the first time i actually understood how the America emerged. Its unthinkable that the video ends in the America's conditionstill not even near the current shape, but its only 270 years ago! What a progress!

A very revealing book on Magellan is Over the Edge of the World. This guy didn't make it but only a skeleton crew (literally) did, forever changing the understanding of the world. An absolute hair-raising book.

The Canary Islands were Portuguese, because of the Treaty of Tordesillas that passed to Spain. The Portuguese were the first to discover America because they went to fish for cod in Newfoundland until Canada

As an Acadian it's nice to get a shout out. Even if it was for being scattered un the colonies and Hati. The good news is that the Spanish invited the Acadians to louisiana 15 years after the expulsion.

Europe made ships and explored. They had rivers and access to the Atlantic.
But wait so did those on the African continent and American continents. Why didnt these people go forth and explore?

unfortunately video is about 500 years out. Norse/ Norwegians were 1st in the Americas. went to Canada and settled. not on mass like they did in England but did set up there. some evidence of this.

Portugal started to decline after their blood were mixed with the Muslims. A small percentage took away their edge. Same is happening now to the British. I. Qs are falling off across the west.

Why are former Spanish colonies have such a bad economy and struggle a lot, yet British colonies for the most part are some of the most powerful now like Canada, Australia, India
reply

I loved that part where Cristopher Columbus met Native Americans and exchanged European goods like spice and livestock for American goods like iPhones and space shuttles.
reply

Funny how the smallpox virus helped the colonists subdue the natives and now the pox (monkeypox) is back effecting both Americans (non-natives) and Europeans.
reply

Aw ma, they ended it without explaining if the Brits were successful in recouping their taxes thru their colonies and whether or not there was any pushback.
reply

You read a bit more. And need to redoo that map. America was already discovered by Portugal. Portugal already had maps and ships fishing in North America.
