The best stories collected were by an Australian amateur historian who spent decades collecting documents. my favorite bis the illiterate man who was made put charge. he had his son make signs they had the flu so no one would come to the town. Not even the train would stop to. deliver mail. they thought they had kade it thru when the train tossed out letters and packages as it went by. however people fell ill almost exactly as where they stood in line. the first of course the postmaster. Anyway the historian is the only non physician to be published in the medical journal because of invaluable work in the subject

Im not sure that I agree that this pandemic was forgotten until recent decades. I was well aware of it as a child in the 1970s. My grandparents were teenagers during this pandemic, but also there was plenty of published information about it then. It was a current topic, because early flu vaccines were being tested, and there was a significant flu pandemic, the Hong Kong flu, in 68-69, which flattened much of the population, including me, for weeks. (As a child, I wanted to be an epidemiologist, but later got out of biology because I couldnt handle the dissection. There have been some recent hypotheses that the high mortality in the 1918 pandemic was caused by secondary, opportunistic, highly contagious, bacterial pneumonia, which could have been spreading, also, interesting.

Our World could well end up in another financial crash the way we are going. Governments are spending billions of dollars for vaccines and medical equipment. There is always people that benefit from challenging times whether it be arms manufacturers or pharmaceutical companies.
I do hope we dont become a carbon copy of what happened here. If we look back at history and forward to the future and take the lessons learned from the past we may get through this pandemic more quickly.

I had H1N1 bird flu in 2014 and it was just awful - first I thought I was going to die - then I wished I was dead, just hideous. I had cvd a month ago and I'm unvxxd, thankfully - I had a sore throat for 3 days. My buddy, triple vxxd was in hospital for 6 weeks, lungs full of fluid (pus he said) and very very ill. saw him a week ago and he's still weak and fatigued. I've had hangovers much worse than cvd. So glad I didnt take the injection (its not a vccne people).

I think everybody today should watch this documentary I mean EVERYBODY can you imagine if Today we were told to Wear a mask or go to jailYou wouldnt have to tell me that because I may wear my masks until the day I die its just gross to think that people who talk to you are spitting on you. Some of us were taught about these plagues as part of our history classes.
They stopped teaching actual history though unless its blm or anti America related. The liberal colleges and universities of the sixties and seventies began the indoctrination of teachers/educators into a non America history education.

Actually, the truth is that these people died of bacterial pneumonia caused by the forced use of masks! Don't believe there is any kind of pandemic! It is manufactured by the govt. in the attempt to wipe us out! Look up germ theory debunked & you'll see the truth about so called viruses!

Thank you for the history but apparently we did not learn from the past. People are fighting again not to wear mask and now that we have a vaccine people are choosing to die rather than get vaccinated. Which is very confusing to me. Why people would rather die.

Yeah originated in the US and called the Spanish Flu. But it was not during the Spanish Republic but during WWI and after (Spanish II Republic 1936-39.
