As you'll know World War 2 (in Europe) began with Britain and France declaring war on Germany after it invaded Poland. But when the USSR invaded soon afterwards, the allies did nothing. But why? Why was there no declaration of war on the Soviet Union?

Great Britain and France, what can i say? Open your eyes and look around you.
The Invasion of Locusts
Joel:
3Tell it to your children; let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation. 4What the devouring locust has left, the swarming locust has eaten; what the swarming locust has left, the young locust has eaten; and what the young locust has left, the destroying locust has eaten. 5Wake up, you drunkards, and weep; wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine, for it has been cut off from your mouth. 6For a nation has invaded My land, powerful and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and its fangs are the fangs of a lioness.

(I type this before watching the video) Its because the Allies would have been at war with two colossal great powers which were both economic and military giants. An allied declaration of both probably would have lead to a German-Soviet alliance and the allied powers would have been completly screwed. There is no way in hell the Allies could take on the combined might of the soviets and Germans at once. Not even with the involvement of the US.

USSR was used to heip defeat Germany. Poland was invaded Sept. 1939 by USSR and Germany. USA did not enter WWII until Dec. 7. 1941. Then Germany was conquering All of Europe. USSR was used as an ally to defeat Germany which was the biggest threat to mankind. Patton wanted to invade the USSR after Germany surrendered but Pres. Truman said no.

Seems that supposed world leaders do that a lot, sacrifice populations that will get you the better foothold in the war to come. Only in this case the gamble barrely paid off. Had Germany taken out Britain it all would have been over; US invading Europe would have been impossible without a foothold like Britain.
reply

They did. Check wikipedia.
Just dall they actually did was UK sendin 500k troops expedidionary force to get ther ass whooped mjrly along with 2. 5 mil french.
Then leaving shavin mirrors n razors on a beach to be evacuated by fishing boats.
Only bcs Germs run out of methaamphetamine or gasoline.

As a Pole I have to say that it's a pretty nasty and painful topic
Especially given that Poland disagreed to cooperate with Germany against Soviet Union (in that case, Poland would agree to have no problem with German revenge on France and UK, but Polish government wanted to stay loyal towards allies)

reply

I always wondered about this. Seems like a pluasible answer. But on paper Moscow has always been considered a European power so on paper they let Poland and the Polish people endure unbelievable horrors in order to defeat Germany. Sounds exactly like the French and British.

What is worth part of this story? That many people, don't consider pre-1941 as a 2WW. Like it never existed, like Soviets didn't murder many people, many officers.
Anyway, Polish forgot how west and east treat them.
TL; Dr screw everyone, especially fake allies

02: 25 Wrote a strongly worded letter I'm British, so that is my go-to option dealing with companies also. Usually gets the job done. (Edit: I actually go the whole hog, and write a sternly worded letter)

No-one declared war on Soviet Union even after Poland, they attacked and occupied Estonia, Latvia, parts of Lithuania and Romania, and tried to occupy Finland but failed. Yes, no-one declared war.
reply

Because anglo-americans replaced Germany (from Ribbentrop-Molotov pact) and divided Europe for another 45 years. it's as simple as that. brits betrayed Poland leaving them at Stalin's mercy.
reply

If Britain and France werent so obsessed with their own dominance in the Western sphere they would have realized the Soviet Union was the greater threat to Western culture.
reply

Because ussr told Germany they will invade Poland together, but Soviet union invaded two weeks later pretending to save it from Germany and not technically invading.
reply

Don't know if it had anything to do with Poland, but didn't US General Patten want to take out the 'comunist scum', while they still had all their hardware in Europe?
reply

Because they Allie's plans were for Germany to fight the USSR for them hence why bankers (capitalists) funded the Nazis for so long. What snowflakes
reply

True is that England and France made agreement before signing it Poland. They agreed never to help Poland so they never meant to help naive Poland.

The Myth of German Villainy Benton L. Bradberry (2012) should be read by anyone who hasn't been brainwashed by Hollywood propaganda.

The answer is much simpler: USSR just got back the territories it lost in the PolishSoviet War (1918-1921) after polish aggression.

So, it definitely doesn't matter that Poland took a part of Czechoslovakia a year earlier? That's a very complex explanation! (No)
reply

No I did not enjoy the video at all. Well I can say I partly enjoyed it. The cartoons were good but you talk way to fast
