Zukhov was not a stalinist as he is portraied in the video. According to many biographies of him from many sources that I've read, he was a communist indeed, but above all, he was a military man and a genius in military matters. The way he found out to survive was to thrive in his art and avoid politics the maximum he could. We shown his competence in the field, avoid expressing public opinions and stick to military above all. When Stalin died he was one of the first names to be quoted to replace him as general secretary of the party, wich he blatantly refused. He oposed military intervention in political affairs and when the oposition lead by kruschev took over against Beria and the fierce stalinists he also refused to intervene with the army and just went with the flow. This was the way he found to live and die as a hero and thrive in the cut throat party politics of the USSR

Communism, a subset of Collectivism, is always governed by fascists
Communism is basically a monarchy
Communism is slavery
The people at the top never had it so well, they're not complaining
Pay the mercenaries well to protect the monarchy
They keep the party going for many years
Eventually inflation makes it impossible to pay the mercenaries well enough, they turn on the monarchy
Democrats in the USA are trying to follow the same plan
Life's spectrum is a Vertical Economic Spectrum
Top is least debt, truth, prudence & Liberty
Bottom is most debt, is opposite from the top
We all live somewhere in the middle, no escape
Special Relativity is God's Governor, it won't let us escape
If we go too fast, we begin going backwards

I like how people exclusively blame stalin for how bad things were, lenin could have lived forever and things would've turned out roughly the same. you can play the same game with hoxha, tito, ceaucescu, etc. these places always devolved into totalitarian nightmares or, comically enough, transitioned into capitalist nightmares who insist they are still totally marxist but with a dash of 'x' like China
Stalin does a wonderful job of allowing the left to deify lenin preventing them from imagining any possible alternative to capitalism than a romantic fairy tale requiring you first subject a citizenry to decades of authoritarianism so brutally destructive it makes the labour dynamic under capitalism look like fcking disney land

You know when anyone says Lenin wanted Trotsky to be his successor they're speaking ahistorical garbage. Lenin despised Trotsky so much he has insulted him about 219 times in all his writings with words such as political whre, worm and traitor.
Also I love how Stalin tried to resign and had his underlings bring him back to show their loyalty. That is definitely why a man who died of a stress induced heart attack tried to resign 4 times. And I also love how Stalin used the assassinations that took place in the government to harass Trotsky. Definitely not a rational choice to direct investigation of a political assassination to an already hated political dissenter who used a forged letter to hold claim to power.

- Why Pakistan want Kashmir from India
- Why did royal family no longer have power to control the country ( expect saudi arabia )
- Why Japan only got occupied by USA but not divided same like Germany in ww2
- Why did South Vietnam lose although USA support economy and military
- Why did the Libya people want to overthrown Gaddafi
- What happen to German soldier after ww2
- Why did France join spliting Germany although they lose in 1940
- Why did the US still sanction Cuba nowaday
- Why did China still want to claim South China Sea belong only for them
- Why did the US allow keep emperor for Japan

There is a common misconception about Trotsky, according to which he was the good guy who would have made communism work right if Stalin had not hijacked the Revolution. In real life, however, Trotsky was the same monster than Stalin (if not worse) as his handling of the Red Army during the Civil War demonstrates.
At the end of the day, Stalin was not overthrown because everybody else was the same or worse than him. Therefore, if someone had ousted Stalin, he would have become Stalin. This is what actually happened: If Trotsky had not been bested by Stalin, this video would be titled Why didn't anyone overthrow Trotsky.

Some mistakes here and there in the video, but overall this was true.
An interesting issue Stalin had to face himself at some point is that the young zealots that had replaced many of the removed officials had such strong tunnel visions towards looking for internal enemies that even he couldn't order to stop some of the mass purge campaigns even when he saw them as counter productive. Basically if he had ordered a sudden stop of a purge the overzealous party members might see him as the enemy. So he just rolled with it. He had little remorse about it though.

1: 37 even this was a betrayal of Lenin. On one hand, as it was mentioned earlier in the video, because Lenin actually despised Stalin's bureaucratic hooligan methods, on the other hand, because Lenin always despised cult of personality. Lenin considered himself as an ordinary worker, who worked with the party and all other progressive workers to establish a workers' state and later communism. One example for this is that he wanted to be buried in a simple grave, not a fcking mausoleum with his body on display.

Stalin didn't see Sergey's death as an opportunity. It was rather the start of his paranoia, which is not entirely baseless. Sergei was a firm Stalin supporter, after the assasination, the only witness also died mysteriously from a car accident. Investigators, assasinated or purged one by one. Anyone in Stalin's position would have been terrified. It is another question whether he overreacted.

Also I think the fact that it was mainly government and military officials who were purged meant that the population didn’t feel threatened
This coupled with the fact that the Soviet Union had rapidly developed under Stalin and propaganda had helped to paint a benevolent picture of him in the public eye meant that any move against Stalin might have failed due to lack of support

It is possible that he actually was overthrown though: The role of Beria surrounding his death is very suspicious: Beria had the door to Stalin's room locked until it was too late to save him and afterwards declined an autopsy. However the death of Stalin didn't help him, as he himself was later executed after he lost the power struggle against Khrushchev and Malenkov.

While all this is true, it misses out on the fact that Stalin's faction had genuine popular support, particularly among the newer members of the Party. When your country has gone through a devastating world war and an even more devastating civil war, Socialism in One Country seems quite appealing compared to World Revolution at the first opportunity.

This is a very simplified view of Stalin. He was not a typical dictator for whom power is an end in itself. He was a fanatic equally cruel to people and to himself, and a talented fanatic at that. Unfortunately, Western school-level history is characterized by simplifying everything and changing history to please the current political agenda.

Ask yourself that same question in a couple of years about trump. The funny thing about fascism, there is always a core group who believes strongly in it because they feel that they will benefit by putting the boot on the neck of other people. He wasn't overthrown because a core group of people thought that his ideas were really good.

In order for evil to triumph all that is required is that good people do nothing. There are examples of countries where the people overthrew their dictator but that takes a tremendous amount of courage, selflessness, and principles that are worth risking death over. Hence, why America overthrew their king over tea taxes

This is very poor history, presented from a very biased, Western perspective. Why wasn’t Stalin ousted Because he was very popular with the majority of Soviet citizens. Whether you agree with his policies and actions or not, he was beloved by the people, and his memory is still revered in former Soviet countries.

Just in case, maybe it's me, maybe it's my memory, but your sound level seem less loud than usual
Not a big deal for me with headphone, but maybe if it's an unintented issue, being several doing a feedback in the comment section might help you
Anyways, like always, thanks for the video, great piece of content

This is a lot of misrepresentation or misinformation. Rumors are presented as truth, and everything characterized as a selfish power strugle, as if they have been capitalists, excluding any ideological motivations and actual threats and circumstances. Things were much more nuanced than that.

Maybe because HE WAS ACTUALLY POPULAR WITH THE PEOPLE.
Funny how western propeganda makes you believe that's impossible.
Capitalist countries have politicians so bad that the west can't conceive of a politician or government official that actually is popular because he helps the people.

How similar this sounds to putin is insane. Especially the part sbout denying not knowing about the purges and then using it as a pretense to purge some more. AND how all the elites just delusionally went along with it all the way to the gulag beliving the dictator was their freind
