The True Size of the American Land Army in WW2 Im from the uk Im hoping so one can help me. My grandfather used to live in Siddington Macclesfield Cheshire England born 1934 in 1944 there were 3 million American troops in UK ready for D-day.
In his village Alderley edge ( now a days rich premier league footballers live there its beautiful countryside just south of Manchester) American gis were stationed in his village my grandfathers mother used to make the American soldiers tea and toast in the mornings bear in mind food was rationed at the time. The American soldiers used to give my grandfather and the other young British children Hubba bubba - he said we didnt have chewing gum like that at the time we used to say to the American soldiers- hey chum have you got any gum. - sure kid there you go was the reply. - there American soldiers would be in 90s now but Id love to find out who was stationed there what unit would it have been to say my thanks to them. If anyone knows where I could find that information from would appreciate it.\r\n

From what year's too what years traft be gone on Where when your number is up you need too show up recruiting Offence? Only truthfully medical problems can get you out of that or only son in the family. But it is also one more thing it can change not do become training camp. Lets say you born 1961 or 1950s four years time it is 29 days in the month. Not 28 day of it all. Should anyone be born 29 day of the mouth. Not middle of the mouth. Your birthday is only any fourth years on the 29 day of the year. So one end you are 18 years old but truthfully only how old loud calendar years. It makes you legel but not legal too be old enough too be in the US military. Now how many did that happen too end up In the US military but should not be because of only how old in lep years.

USA single handedly own World War II, not only through their military might but also through their entire Industrial Capacity and human resources.
Germany was too small a country with too big an aspiration. What Germany wanted to accomplish thorough military intervention, USA achieved that and some more by pushing technological innovations through cultural colonization of the Globe all while efficiently constructing a new era of trade based Global Financial System. Thus the foundations have been laid and soon it will be the right time to unite Humanity. 1st and Foremost USA must keep its technological leadership and once again become a net exporter of Goods and Services before assuming a fully integrated Global System of Cooperation Lead by UN.

Ba-ton? Bat A-Anne = Bataan. -USA was still able to transport troops to Europe. Cough- Canadian navy at great cost to sailors life's--
The most notable American participaction of WW2 was the Normandy landings. Sure Landed in wrong areas and suffered greater loss Also because of missed area landings 1/4 of American landing tanks sank in the sea coming ashore
Most notable Normandy landing was the Canadians Even against the SS and Panzer divs 88mm guns The pushed and were the first to finish all the objectives opening a path for the British and the American's

The World War 2 American Army was a mountain which gave forth to a mouse. The Americans were not able to defeat Japan and were compelled to entreat the Soviets to help them in the Far East War, which they finished for three weeks, ( The Amis were not cool enough to do it for three years. In Europe they were not courageous enogh to appear till the most of the German army was routed by the Soviets. The Amis fought far better against the civilians than soldiers of Germany and Japan alike.

This is why America is the pretty princess of the world if your born in the ussr in 1922 you had a 20% chance of surviving the war. Now if you were a American and born in the same year you have a 90% chance of surviving the war. And also probably don-t go with out saying that the USSR won the war not America and the ussr had 30+ million casualties well America had only 400 thousand and a handful of civilian casualties

Why didn't the US attack Japan via the Aleutian islands? The Japanese were clearly afraid of this possibility, as seen in their Aleutian campaign. I believe it's because the US Navy did not want to give up control of the encounter. This question is far more complex than -bad weather-. If that is the answer you are just not aware. Finland fought in far worse conditions than were seen in Aleutian islands.

For USA after ww2:
When the history called, you answered.
I thank you and world thank you.
In 1 year you saved many countries who wasn't just lost their pride, they lost their freedom.
That way was hard and full of sacrifices, but you made it, so all Americans, you should be proud

Do you think that the current Indo-China conflict may result in WW3? I am saying so since the media in my country(India)is unnecessarily showing newspieces that say that a big war is imminent due to the expansionist policies of Chinese Communist Party. Please do take notice of my query.

I dont believe any Navy in the world today could get 8 million troops and all its equipment and weapons as well, to Europe and Asia, besides the US. I would say China but they don't have a blue water Navy, they are mainly a coastal navy. its truly amazing they did it back in 1940s

Interesting presentation although you did forget to even mention the Soviets fighting the bulk of the German combat forces in Eastern Europe. If you think that the American forces were -critical, - I-m curious what importance you would grant the Soviet Army in this conflict?
reply

It was not MacArthur who surrendered in bataan since he escaped to australia along with the members of the Philippine government. It was General Jonathan Wainwright who held out for 9 months in Bataan and eventuallly corrigedor until he surrendered to the japanese

Would to see Canadian history from its inception. Why did they call it Canada? Makes me think of Cannan.
What-s the political history surrounding the natives in the area?
How and why did it retain its monarchy status?
What-s their constitution look like?

Most tanks the British and Canadians and French used in WW2 were American made Sherman tanks. There were many versions of that tank made. By the end of the war the fire power and quality of those tanks being made, were at least equal to the German tanks.

Do you have a color chart on which states provided the most number of people for the grinder?
I love the video graphics, but would love to see that as it relates to which states gave up the most of its boys for the war, over the same years in conflict.

reply

Misinformation, MacArthur was evacuated to Australia and was not the general that surrendered. US Army was the majority of ground forces in the Pacific. The Army Air Force also predominated in the Pacific, the plane that dropped the A-bomb was Army.
reply

Well, America didn't really change about the war in Europe. The Germans knew they'd lost by 1942.
The ridiculous low casualties speak for it self.
They fought to young, old and used soldiers who didn't fit the front lines.

reply

Why do you refer to it as a -Land Army-. Is there a -Water Army-. Maybe if you said -Land Force- or just -Army- okay. But there is no army that fights on the water. Those who fight on water are called NAVY.
reply

The -Draft- while globally implemented was unsurprisingly disliked. However, the need for more and more men was necessary for the war effort and both sides relied heavily on these systems.
reply

Was the US army really crucial in the war? Soviets destroyed 80% of the German army on the eastern front and in 1945 for 1 month in August Soviets defeated the Japanese army in Manchuria. So?
reply

I am entirently proud of my uncle John who fought with 503 paratroopers in the southwest pacific, he jumped on bataam to retake that island in 4 years of combat, may he rest in peace
reply

Finland wasn-t part of the axis powers. In WW2 Finland was fighting for survival against the USSR. Since Finland didn-t participate in the Holocaust, they were on their own.
reply

that's the one thing I think everybody always forgets is that the US had a large population at the time you know everybody only thinks the Soviets have a large one
reply

Everyone always forgets that the USA had to ship it's entire army overseas onto 2 different fronts. That's an astronomical undertaking that goes unappreciated
reply

Thank you America. My grandfather fought along side you lads against the Japanese then the Germans.
Without you the Japanese would've decimated Australia.

reply

Can someone explain, how did they have like 8 million troops in just 90 divisions? It seems very illogical considering a division had 15, 000 men on average.
reply

Canada is a little bit to the east and south America lies a litle bit to the west when compared to Canada position when seen in time, Sun light, mirror.
reply

Fighting separately in two different front with such low quality forces and still won the war. thats UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ladies and gentlemen
reply

Roosevelt did America a disservice but he wanted to save his communist uncle stalin and look at the world now he should have been put in levenworth

I salute the indomitable spirit of President Dwight. D. Eisenhower that led to the massive victory of the U. S.
