Why couldn't Constantinople be conquered?
video description
Cesar King Tervel later proclaimed as Saint, Charged his army of 80 000 Horseman and obliterated the 250 000 Arab army. At this stage of the invasion all that the Eastern Roman Empire could do was to Hide behind the walls of Constantinopole. King Tervel is also known as the Saviour the Europe. The Arabs still remember their defeat and you can read about this war in their chronicles.
Quote: -The Bulgarians were giants, and in hand to hand combat 10 of our man could not defeat a single Bulgarian- Also another quote written in a stone in front of a museum in todays Greece, but back then Bulgarian: - If a man does good, god sees. If a man does evil, god sees. The Bulgarians did so much good deeds for the Christians, and they forsaken them. But god sees! -
King Presian wrote this after he defeated the Eastern Roman Empire in battle. We know the truth, and we remember!\r\n

The walls of Constantinople are represented incorrectly. There were 4 walls, not 2. The outer Theodosian wall was a triple wall with a water filled moat. The inner wall shown on the map is the old Constantinian wall that was partly in ruin by this time. It is the remains of the original Constantinople wall when Constantine the Great had it built. The Theodosian Walls were added after the First Sack of Rome in 410, most likely during the reign of Theodosius II.

Just before 80 years of this war Arab were a bunch of tribes lived isolated in Arabia between tow strong ancient empires.
And after 80 years the Arab become the dominant power after magnificent victories against the Persians and the Romans.
This glorious rise of the Arab empire showed us what unity and strong doctrine can do to any nation

It would be interesting to have a video on why Byzantines couldn-t break out of Constantinople to retake territory. I know some of it is here but it would be neat to hear the opposite story
Also would love to know why the Ottomans couldn-t take the south Black Sea region? Very odd seeing that gap despite their successes around it

The early muslim expansion was due to teh persians and Romans being so weak from war and infighting. That they could threathen Constantinople and topple the whole Persian empire and take Egypt/Syira etc so fast was remarkable. But really a stroke off luck with teh timing (or Gods help who knows.

The Eastern Roman borders shown are merely nominal. -80% of the Balkan territory was overrun by Slavs. Some coastal fortresses in Dalmatia (e. g. Diocletian's Palace, Coastal Epirus, Eastern Thessaly, Attica and Boeotia, and Thrace was all that remained in that part of the Empire.

The reason the Arabs weren't able to brake the Bulgar siege was probadly that they lacked the quantity of cavalry needed. Han Tervel had exceptionally sized cavalry for the Balkans. East Rome was very often outpaced and therefore beaten by the factor.

Sassanids and Buzantines: Both had a numerical advantage and were way a head technologically in every single battle.

Once again, there was NO 'Palestine' at the time. It was The Levant, or Judea and Israel. Thank you for your historical accuracy, so important these days of dystopian racist counter-factualism.

Both Leo III that was a formidable general and the Bulgarians are greatly underrated in saving Europe from Muslims at this crucial moment. Whereas Habsburgs took credit for defeating the Ottomans.

A little sad you will not give Bulgars their credit. Not really a Byzantine victory. Strange to me how they intervened only at the end but managed to kill 20-30 k.
