This biased view of history is just wrong. Of course we can and must criticize the mistakes of real socialism or USSR imperialist actions towards the Eastern Bloc, but taking Romania as the single example to define what communism is is just wrong. Socialism has worked, basically every time it has improved the living conditions of the people and created strong economic growth. China, the USSR, Vietnam, Cuba, Korea, every time life got better, and even if I do not personally support Eastern Bloc-style socialism, its successes are undeniable.

My grandma was 13 years old during the japanese occupation of british malaysia during the second world war, and from what my father told me she and her family survived from hunger by eating grass, roots, and river water. I feel a burden of guilt on me after I heard what my grandma and my people had been through. The future generation lived a good life while those who suffered under facists and communists pigs, I hope they suffer in a place even worse then hell.

What a moving story! This was the life of my grandparents too. Famine, hard work, hardship. yet they still joined the resistance and even managed to hide a Jewish family on their farmstead. I can't even begin to describe how proud i am of their actions. People constantly complaining how life sucks these days, they really are clueless. Count your blessings, every single day!

My great grandfather went to the eastern front like yours, he was a field medic and thank god he made it back. Ive never met a man more perseverant than him and full of joy for life. He also made it through communism in Romania and finally died in 2012 at the age of 98. I love you shared this notes from your grandpa a lot of people in Romania can relate.

Just discovered this video, been binging your videos lately and this hit me really hard, being Romanian and quite young, I never had the chance to learn about our past in this way. Your grandfather was very brave and endured hardships our generation has no way of knowing, hopefully his story reaches a much bigger audience because it needs to be heard.

My great grandfather was dragged with horses for miles by communists. He refused collectivisation. It is hard to appreciate what we have now: trans gens, political correctness, trigger maniacs, functional analphabets, weak men and corruption. I appreciate GREATLY the efforts of our forefathers, but today's weak men create the bad times of tomorrow.

Indeed a moving story. I am from Romania and I know from the stories of my grandfather and my mother what happened to my family back in those times described in the clip. But the conclusion is the essence of the story and it must be taken into consideration by my generation and the next generations. Thank you for sharing with us your family story.

That was an amazing story! I have always been interested in what I call 'social history'. Not the dates and places of history, but the people and their thoughts, actions, happenings, reasoning as to why, etc. That is what I find so fascinating about history, and your grandfathers' story ranks right up there. Thank you for sharing this eye-opening story. My grandfather, also from Romania, shared a similar story of incredible hardship in the years preceding and during WW2 in Romania. I fully agree with your grandfather's message: only by learning from the difficult past can we truly appreciate what we have today and hope to progress.

My great grandfather fought in the war (Romanian side) and was shot in the arm he was very tall like 1. 94 cm and i remember my great grandmother age died when i was 5 and its crazy to know that she was hiding from the soldiers and scavaging for food

I won't lie to you I almost cried its quite touching as my grandad lived on a farm in Kuwait but then they discovered the oil and he could get a good job and is quite fortunate and never be ungrateful and so am i because of him.
