When George W. Bush compared his illegal war in Iraq to the Crusades, this was an insult to Muslims. (Why not to the Crusaders) The Ottomans were so peaceful, and the nasty Crusaders just attacked them for no reason. What sort of people get upset because you mention defeats they brought upon themselves? The same sort as today claim that Israel stole land it conquered after being attacked, perhaps. Yet from their beginnings in conquest, the Ottomans created an enlightened, tolerant civilization that, among other things, preserved writings of Ancient Greece that would be lost to us. We owe them. History. Go figure.

Actually the Ottomans mostly avoided attacking Constantinople, because there was a Prophecy by Prophet Muhammad PBUH that Constantinople will fall by the hand of a Sultan called -MUhammad or Mehmed in turkish dialect-, also Sultan Mehmed II saw a vision in his sleep, he saw Prophet Muhammad PBUH himself telling him that he shall attack Constantinople and it will fall into his hands, That's why Mehmed II was very determined to Open Constantinople despite failing in many attempts and he continued a 50-days seige on the city until it had fallen.

There is no mention regarding how the Ottomans handled the occupied territories specially in Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Egypt, and how they abused the people there and starved them while stealing most of their crops and also suppressed education and schooling. It was nothing short of a apartheid and genocide that they have exacted on the Armenians that they did differently in those occupied territories. So don-t gets too impressed or glorified by their history they are not glorious towards occupied lands.

Between 1444-1468 (when he died of malaria) he fought 29 battles with the Ottoman army and won them all. The Turks besieged Kruja three times to conquer it and failed (1450 came Murad II with 100, 000 soldiers, 1466 came Mehmed with 150, 000 soldiers, 1467 Mehmed again with 150, 000 soldiers)

This is a good reference about timeline but this is not a history at all. Everything is about persons and battles, absolutely nothing else, no reference on anything about social, economic, demographic or any other factors. This is like a history by a high school teacher that would drill his students on names of rulers and dates of battles.

Very interesting Historical Research just one minor criticism there was no mention of the Young Turks Campaign of Genocide against the Armenians Just before the Young Turks stepped down it's Common Knowledge and a Historical fact that Turkey committed Barbaric forced death marches into the Deserts and Massacred defenceless Armenians

This was interesting. Really I feel that Mehmed II was the smartest conquerer. As he let his more experienced Dad step in twice and back off when necessary. Not ego maniacal according this portrayal but having a longer vision

Your ottoman map is wrong. Northern Iran was never conquered by Ottomans, a period of 16 years they attempted to control but were defeated by the Safavids in 1603 never again to attempt to control any part of Iran.
