Oh that was a cheeky quiz. Only managed 60 points. I thought it was someone else 'til clue 5.
My -thinking-:
Clue 1. ???... possibly a 2nd Viennese School composer such as Schoenberg or Webern or Berg.-
Clue 2. ???... as 1.-
Clue 3. ???... as 1. (but unlikely)-
Clue 4. ???... but Schoenberg _was_ Jewish and moved to & died in USA.-
Clue 5. Has to be Fritz Kriesler!-
Clue 6. ???... as 5.-
Clue 7. ???... as 5.

Thanks for the quiz!!, i didn't know that Kreisler composed an operetta. I will listen to it later. Oh could you some day make a video of Brahms, like you did on Schubert, Mozart and Bowie in your series of Composers Insights?

I was perplexed at the start, I even started thinking about Alma Mahler, her dates are close but not right and I don't know where she died. I did start to wonder if the mystery composer was a performer such as Artur Schnabel, however the Elgar clue was the give away.

Another fascinating quiz, thanks! For some reason (and I don't know why), I had always thought of Kreisler as a violinist and conductor, not a composer. So I got a big zero on this one.

I had no idea, Kreisler was so late! I would have guessed him to live in the second half of the 19th century (like the Strauss'es)
