not sure if anyone will see this but i'm currently trying to write a book about a famous (uncaught) serial killer who becomes fixated on a murder/horror author. ive been doing a research but i'm not exactly certain what exact type he should fall under.
he is very calm, confident, and intelligent. he is organized and comes from a wealthy family.
he does happen upon his victims randomly, by bumping into the street so there is absolutely no tie between him and the victims. and over a course of a month he basically semi-stalks them, but kills any males (even family) near the female. he often presents the male bodies to the female (leaving it at her house, work, or giving her videos/pictures of him) as it's his way of courting her.
the police basically know its him but have no way to link him to any of the crimes, he doesn't leave any trace and when he kills the victims he takes them to another place to murder them before disposing of them. he's been interviewed many many times but he is very intelligent as i said and he has a lot of money to hide behind with lawyers. he's only been to court once but the evidence was thrown out.
his victims are only ever murdered, he doesn't torture them or do anything to them besides that. i haven't picked the exact way but its between him cutting their throats (and hanging them out to remove the blood) or shooting them. personally i think he's going to have two MO's where he shoots the men in the head but using the knife on the women.
also yes, i know my brain is odd, i just need help figuring out how a police would describe him as a serial killer. like a profiler.

Number nine sounds like the Government.
But they are sadistic Im that they brainwash their victims into I believing that they are needed.

We human have lived over 1. 8 million years without governments. In small communities.
Governments are a recent invention.
The modern police force didnt come into being until the anarchist movement took hold back in the 19th century.
Before that. It was laisezfaire towards law enforcement. The subject of the realm where responsible for the good order of the town not the government!
The only time you heard from the king was when you failed to pay for your estate.
Think mafia!
Under monarchies you had a greater autonomy than under modern democracies.
These days you cant walk down the street without some clown in a suit demanding your identity card. Freedom?

Isn't it more appropriate to call them serial murderers rather than serial killers though since a general in a war may be responsible for many deaths, although he may have saved many more lives and even be considered a hero?
I think many murderers want to consider themselves like that. Like heros who just happened to lose the war.
So we should make it clear that they were never even in the running. The first time they killed someone who wasn't trying to kill them first they were a murderer regardless of whether they were fighting in trenches or living a civilian life.

You got the last one very wrong. 99. 999% of hitmen in the organized crime are not paid. They are just obeying their boss. Paid hitmen does exist, but if they are part of an organization like the mafia or the cartel, they are not paid. They also, usually, do not have the permission to have fun with their victims. They have to treat it like a job at which they are expected to excel.

Is it possible for someone to be a mix of these?
Like if someone is mainly a crime spree killer, but also followed the media of their crimes as a trophy thing, and may have also done it for money or religious reasons? Would they still classify as crime spree?
What kind of personality would this person most likely have?
