Do you deal with judgemental people on a day to day basis because of who you are, what you think, or what you do? Usually, judgemental people or friend are judgemental on themselves. They project themselves on you. We share some insights on why some people are judgemental, and how we can deal with judgemental people. Those who mind don't matter. Those who matter don't mind. My dad is an extremely judgmental person. Not towards me, weirdly, but towards everything and everyone he doesnt know: that The Voice contestant that he literally insulted for not having a great voice (it wasnt even that bad, any music I listen to, any scene in a movie that is a tad too long The problem is, its been poisoning me since I was a little kid, and even though I try my best to keep an open mind, its like im programmed even when hes not here to judge things just like he would, and to think about what he would say. Whenever I listen to a song I used to like, but that he criticized, his criticism keeps haunting me and I cant focus on the song anymore. Its exhausting and its had an impact on many aspects of my personality growing up, like being addicted to other peoples opinions about me and everything I watch/listen to.

TBH im trans in a super Cristian location and iv got noone i trust, at all. So most of these tips dont quite help.
More context: family ofc hate who i am, and i know most of the people in my class wont listen as we have a chat group and out of the 30 people in my class 10 have sent extremely racists and trasphobic memes, and the rest are either laughing at them or dont use the group chat at all.
Im trying to find any place where i feel safe but i just cant, im the only openly trans person in the city i live in.

I still struggle to understand what judgement is. Like. do you have to agree with everything a person does? As toxic or rude it may be? Do i have to agree with my friend stealing from a shop? If i express that this is not okay for me, is that a judgement? If someone gets attacked in the street do you just walk pass because you are not to judge the action of the attacker?
Clearly not, but then how does this work? If we don't judge some things the world would be complete chaos for as far as my understanding goes now.

Most people judge based on what they see in the internet. Most people judge you based on your skin tone, body, face etc. Most people judge you without knowing the whole story. Most People who get judge by others are also the reason the person becomes judgemental. Most people who say they are not judgemental in the internet are simply judgemental in person. I'm not judgemental in person, I basically hate most judgemental people especially in the Philippines. Not all but most are and only few are truly not.

my friend always laughs at things I wear or makes me feel embarrassed for being clumsy. she also dominates every conversation, orders things for me & talks over me when we're with other people. I have a hard time opening up and creating conversation. Anyways, I never know how to confront it but it all bothers me and I feel like I need to say something to continue a healthy friendship. Im taking everything she says personally, nowadays and I dont know what to do about it.

My mother always quarrels with me, she looks for this in any member of the family. I always tried to ignore her, to help her or to understand her, but it is not possible. I'm talking to her, she's looking for reasons to scream or do bad things. I don't want any message of support, I wanted you to know that no matter if she's part of the family, it's okay to move away from that member I can dictate enough physically but mentally I will. Thank you!

I believe we (exceptions being saints and monks and some individuals) judge people, consciously or unconsciously and saying i do not judge is just a lie
I rather like to acknowledge the fact that I am judging people and have good parameters i believe in for judging them. I also keep in mind that my judgement should be not too quick and should be flexible as people change and errors can occur in my judgement.
What do y'all think about this?

reply

I really despise the fact judgement is seen primarily as destructive and malicious in modern times. We are nearly at a point where enabling people and blatantly neglecting to inform them of potentially useful opinions is seen as a virtue. Dishonesty, neglect and apathy should never be qualities we strive to achieve. All these people you're enabling now are going to impact the future your kids grow up in. Keep that in mind.

lol imagine strangers just judging you when you're alone and want to be alone and don't want to judged that's why your alone in the first place but people still just violate your privacy just to judge you and make fun of you complete and oder strangers who have never met you or even tried to have a conversation just to judge you and make fun of you. What the hell am I supposed to do?

My boss and coworker dislike the fact that Im in an interracial relationship and shacking up. Now I have to lie (or at least stop sharing details) about my relationship. Theyve criticized me in front of other coworkers and I dont like that. They are bullies if you try to stand up for yourself. Ive learned my lesson about getting too personal at work and Im looking for another job.

preciesly becuase of the amount of people surrounding me that behave this way and being so judgemental, I'm now becoming so much more conservative. i used to love sharing to people about things that i like or made me happy, but turns out there are so many them who only know how to judge and degrade people. This is why i don't like talking so much about myself to people anymore.
reply

If youre related to people like this, please separate yourself from them permanently. I cant stress this enough. You will never change it. Surround yourself with good people. It is about letting another person breathe, just let somebody breathe. It just doesnt cost anything to let someone breathe. Some people are just evil, please leave them.

My two friends judge me about the clothes I wear. I know they dont sound like good friends but they arent judgemental in other aspects. I dont know what to do and I feel such anxiety when they wanna meet up with them outside of school (our school requires uniform). I really hope talk about it will help me. I already feel a bit lighter

If i say thankyou while my parents are judging me they will think thats DISRESPECTFUL, If i walk away and won't talk to them to stay away from the drama, they will think its DISRESPECTFUL. Im asian and i dont know if some asian parents does this, its so irritating when everything that their mouths know is only the word disrespectful

Am a very sensitive person too, cant see people being judgemental, even its not about me. I end up spoiking my mood for the whole day, sometimes days together, but honestly, how can I avoid such a person specially when we arein the same house.
I have become short tempered and developed bp toi offlate. Pathetic.

If I see a highly judgemental person I get as far and as fast as I can to be away from them. And yes they project their own shortcomings onto you. Sometimes it's just as simple as they want to feel superior to someone. It's often ppl who have low self esteem that do that. Boundaries are essential.

My notes. Listen again.
1. Don't take it personally.
2. Practice compassion & empathy.
3. See the child within them.
4. Focus on others who love & support you.
5. Set boundaries. I. It. (not you)
6. Thank them. Change topic.
7. Walk away. Get some space.

This happened to me because no one wants to back me up, like a friend or someone who respect what is me. This person is pushing their taught on to other person and they agreed with each other. You need someone who agrees with you but if no one wants to be with you then that is trouble.

reply

NOPE. NOT. HELPING the ABUSER. sorry. That's NOT right telling us to give them SO many chances and to STAY in that environment. SO WRONG. since they will continually PUT US DOWN. They need to get 'professional' help. We can let them rule out lives even more.
reply

I assure myself that anyone in the world can abuse me or be horrible towards me.
Then, I rarely care about anyone's opinion or judgement to me.
I just learn if anyone's opinion is worthwhile, otherwise I don't let them enter my mind and drive me nuts

reply

Some of us dont have loving supportive people in our lives. So many people are nice to your face but they talk behind your back. I learned this by how quick gossip travels. I started telling certain people certain things just to see how fast rumors travel
reply

Its totally okay for them to not like or hate specific things, but i dont see the neccessary for them to say it out loud and badmouth it when they know how much I love and adore that specific thing. thats just so rude for them to behave like that.
