Intelligent people know that language matters. People with emotional intelligence know that words are both powerful and impactful. Language has the potential to significantly change how people view us, how well we do in the workplace, and how we even view ourselves. People who are emotionally intelligent make sure their words are appropriate for the time and they choose to speak transparently. With that in mind, here are 10 phrases that intelligent people will generally not say

Ehhh I disagree with the job description one. Companies have no loyalty to employees and you do not get rewarded for going above and beyond. You should only do what you are contractually obligated to and for the hours you are obligated to. No more. Employers reap the benefits of your extra work while you very rarely get any benefit. You see story after story of bosses expecting employees to go to all kinds of lengths and then refuses to give them a raise while the company makes second profits. Telling you that you should go above and beyond what youre paid to is a very dystopian corporate American thing and it needs to stop. The pay check is literally the only reason most of us are working at all, why would we work more without getting paid more for it? Ive learned this early in my career when my boss gave out to me for being ten minutes late one morning while ignoring all the late nights I worked. I stopped doing any kind of unpaid overtime that day and will only do what Im contractually obligated to and it hasnt held me back and Im less stressed and have more time for my friends, family and personal life.
Intelligent people dont do extra work for free.
Ok so phrasing it as thats not in my job description especially if said sarcastically, is the incorrect way to go about it. But I do warn caution about letting your boss exploit you even if only in a small way. Use your judgement, dont be walked over but look out for opportunities to grow.

i use the last one often to the ones im bored of keep getting ignored ever advice i gave by. its just keeps getting worse and i want that, i want my relationship with them over asap. it just hurts me and i tell them it hurts me but they just keep ignoring my advices so everytime i was right i say them i told you like billion times they keep going over that mistake. i want them to grow up, think more effectively but no they just came to me ask what should they do and then proceed to do what they were doing before. and it ends up me saying them i told you so i dont care
reply

Number 3 is partially true. A smart person will know when the right time to use that phrase. Most of the time they would use that phrase if the task is putting you in harm's way or if they realize they are just being used, but mostly just harm's way. You don't want people to trample all over you. You have to stand up for yourself, but at the same time if the task isn't in your job description and is safe to do and you know you aren't being used then there's no reason not to do that task someone ask you to do.

Not in my job description. When I get hired to work a front desk, but then get told I also have to help with laundry, clean the front lobby, help with breakfast, and take over(this was mandatory) as a janatorial member if shortstaffed. There's Not in my job description where you do bare minimum, and there's Not in my job description where your job want you to do other jobs on top of yours.

They name it things intelligent people never say yet feel the need to give a disclaimer confirmig the title was clickbait? And also, saying people are unintelligent for saying things like I can't do it or it has to be perfect is very ableist. I have ADHD and get overwhelmed easily, so you saying that me getting overwhelmed makes me unintelligent is very annoying.
reply

when i say no offense, i understand it may come across as offensive, and therefore i feel compelled to note that no offense is intended. if they still take offense and think that was my intent, then i don't care. Sure i could hold my tongue but it wont change what i think, so rather i just say it than pretend otherwise.
reply

I only ever said it's not my fault when it really wasn't. example: when I was a janitor my days off were Wednesday and Thursday (Friday was my Monday) and I was yelled at when I showed up one Friday because something spilled Wednesday afternoon and it hadn't been cleaned up yet. that wasn't my fault.
reply

there are some things that I disagree like I can't do it fr imagine ure on a test and u dont know anything its already known that u will fail or someone ask u to play the piano again u can't do it, unless ure an pianist. It's not fair there are a lot of times where u kinda need to use it
reply

You should put a smart person would never set boundaries around what they're willing or able to do (ie saying that's not in my job description or i can't do it) as examples of toxic positivity in your toxic positivity videos. Those are perfectly reasonable things to say.

reply

when i say i told you so i say it when its like a funny situation not to brag like imagine a kid holding a icecream upsidedown u say it will fall the kid says it wont it falls you get them another icecream then say i told you so
reply

I actually use i told you so for example when i know that something is not going to be like the person im speaking with wants and i just use that phrase when i told that person not to do it because i
knew it would end badly

reply

Imagine, going through this whole list and being like, Damn, I'm smart as shit. I need to go tell my mama to her FAYCE. Oh wait number 10, yeah aight i see you now. Mama was right.
That's me, it's me all the way.

As a smart person I believe that Mrs gargle's son threw basket balls at the old Walmart lady while Jeff bezos watched drinking a cup of tea with queen Elizabeth's face in it is a phrase I've never said in my entire life.
reply

If I say it will be done in 1 minute, it will be.
PS: thanks a lot for all your videos. These are helping me much more than every psychologist I saw in my life.
PPS: French people doesn't write English correctly.

i use many of these phrases, but ive never meant them and rarely had them seen as how they were described in the video
while the phrases are pretty specific, they do seem too vague? something like that.

reply

I prefer to use the statement With all due offense
Feel free to use it interchangeably with phrases like No offense but or With all due respect its more honest and direct, and its yours now. Youre welcome

reply

People: No offense but-
_Me too, no offense but, I have tbh, you're an idiot. You keep saying that overused phrase of __No Offense__ from the start before saying something offensive in the end. _

reply

anyone notice the ranboo crown on the mug here? 0: 14

reply

My approach to all the problems in engineering classes:
Instead of I can't do it, the better thing to follow with every This is too hard! is There must be another way.

reply

Some of these are not related to your intelligence, but rather your mental stability and social skills (see I can't and I told you so as good examples of each)
reply

It will only take a minute
Daymm. every boss and supervisor I have had must be very dumb then. Because each task they give me should only take a few minutes

reply

I told you so.
Honestly, when someone asks for my advice and they ignore it, then failing the task brutally. That's the phase that come out of my mouth
