as i'm writing this out, i have to be honest and say that i have had porn addiction for years. I was exposed to it at the age of 11-12 and it spiraled out of control quickly. I watched it 4-6 times a day for 2 years. After that i discovered NoFap through various different things and i'm not joking, but it saved my life. When i was 13-14, i had terrible depression and anxiety. Had no drive to do anything, i was overweight and finally made a change in my life. Now, i am still fighting this horrid addiction. But with each day passing by, i gain more knowledge and courage to keep going.
It's already been 1. 5 years since i started fighting this and it hasn't gotten easier. Relapsing constantly. But there is one thing that i live by: I would rather die fighting, than surrender and live.
No matter how long this journey will be, i will beat this addiction to a pulp and leave it in my past. I promise.
Good luck to you fellow strugglers, and don't you dare give up.

Quitting porn is extremely difficult compared to quitting other addictions. I think this is because, unlike other addictions, porn addiction is deeply intertwined with the reproduction part of the brain, and reproduction is one of our strongest primitive instincts. Your brain doesn't panic quite as much when you quit other things; however, when you quit porn, your brain thinks that you've gone from reproducing multiple times a day to zero times a day. It's going to severely punish you for this because it thinks you've suddenly given up on your biological imperative. This is probably why PAWS (Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome) seems to last longer with quitting porn than it does with quitting other addictions. I've seen several anecdotes on the NoFap forum in which people said that quitting nicotine and alcohol was infinitely easier than quitting porn, and there was even one person who said that it took less time to recover from quitting a cocaine addiction.

Personally I've nothing against it, and people are entitled to their own opinions and preferences towards it. For some it can be a stress relief, while others are just simply curious; especially when they're in their teens.
And while it can be a little unnerving at times, it's basically become something you get used to like a Red Light District type of sketch; you know it exists, but if it's not you're cup of tea you ignore it.
I find the psychology you brought up to be interesting, and feel it can be applicable to how people react or feel towards it.

Ive struggled with porn addiction for a while, I started when I was maybe around 8 and Im 13 right now and still struggling. Its definitely interrupted my way of thinking and relationships with males as well. I want to seek an adult for help but Im ashamed and dont really want to confront myself. Its a deep shame of mine and I cant get it off of my conscience. I hope who ever is struggling with porn addiction also tries to seek help. We are not alone!

I was watching porn as a teenager, it's just what I was doing privately. Burning dvd's with porn vids on it. Years later and I found that i'm addicted. So yes I believe teen brains are more vulnerable due to neuroplasticity.

I think it's important to remember that none of these things make porn inherently bad; this is porn in excess. (There are plenty of other reasons why porn and specifically the porn industry is bad)
