You've probably heard of schizophrenia, but have you ever heard of schizoaffective disorder? Or have you ever met anyone who lives with schizoaffective disorder? Its not surprising if you havent heard of schizoaffective disorder, as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) reports only 0. 3% of the US population--or 981, 600 people--will get it during their lifetimes. Living with schizoaffective disorder causes intense emotional and psychological turmoil and can affect all aspects of daily living, including work, social relationships, and self-care skills. In this video, we would like to educate everyone about Schizoaffective Disorder to raise awareness as well as to encourage those who might relate to it to seek professional help

I have this and its like a Never ending bad trip,
But I know what would solve it,
If I was to be held down By a female and suffocated with affection and snapped out of catatonic mind state Im a human too. That has been the only relief in my life is to listen to someones heart beat.
Occasionally the brief Gaze into someones eyes Knowing that everything is a
Lifes like closed doors and occasionally the universe peaks through and You get startled,
The silence of my head Is when someone is capable of engaging with me and breaking all the boundarys and Feel excited like a little kid And make funny jokes and just setting aside the world for a day and running away,
While I throw skittles at your four head Because and I count backwards from ten.
Delusional.
Not emotionless just feel you know its a bad episode when your heart aches for no reason and are bombarded with just existing its pretty tense,
But emotions like its the air and they fade and your clueless and than they creep up on you Intensity when your all alone and the soft calm collected you comes out,
Paranoia caution irritable
Might be.
You know its a critical episode
I thought all my issues in this world was because I was just Unnaturally smart in my understanding of the world,
I figured I have enough Ill lay in bed awake till the sun comes up sometimes thinking about why the world The universe,
My place and not knowing what people want from me.
You want to talk about when reality sets in and Your a decomposing organism that just happened To achieve sentients,
And the other ones all agree and you can never quite do accomplish and Everything you do is Just innocent and The pysichal me Isnt what is what lies in my anatomy with the lights on through my eyes.
I half to conform The Hussle culture and people are evil they will hurt you Protect yourself.
Nothing in this world makes sense,
Is it a coincidence
Hey,
. Help
Thats what my experience of this is and maybe the Occasional
.
.
Its a never ending circle that runs you into Not wanting to be here because you can Never Get it right.
Funny what a curse.
And Legos Are for adults if they tell you different Im sure you know the voice in your Head Says can agree there lame.

I had my first hallucinations when I was 11 years old, in a very traumatic and stressful time in my life. They didn't progress much in intensity or frequency over the years, except when I developed bipolar 1 at 15, being diagnosed just a few months later. And even then, with taking certain changes in my life to keep myself on a routine as much as possible, and staying on meds for the most part, my bipolar was well managed. I did end up going off for a couple of years, experiencing slight hypomania, like I am as I type this. But one day when I was 23 years old, 5 miles deep in the desert doing some extended off grid camping, I started hearing whispers and murmers coming from somewhere, searched all over my tent and looked everywhere, when I couldn't find the source, I realized it was coming from within my head. Had my first psychotic episode. That was little over 7 years ago. I already don't have any family support, and from the time I left foster care to only just recently, I was mostly on the streets. I've since gotten more manageable in my symptoms, and have built up both online and in person supports.
I feel appreciation someone made an accurate video on this without making people like me out to be a monster, as so many who I'm chatting with, strangers at bus stops, or friends who didn't know me in that part of my life, a person experiencing psychosis will wander in eyesight and they say disgusting things about this person, to which I then out myself. Often if I tell someone upfront the first question is out of ignorant fear asking if I get violent, no, but others in society have towards me

Everything from pushing away my family members do everything else that was said this video was too accurate about how I feel. I also have issues trusting family members and trusting others and I don't have any friends and I do engage and Reckless Behavior and I have trouble deciphering what's true and what's not I've been seeing a therapist and I have a qmhp. But I'm scared of taking medication and I think that is the next thing that will be recommended for me to do but I also don't trust medication. So I'm kind of stuck. I've been giving other diagnosis as well but the schizoaffective stands out. I don't know what to do. And I've been this way for years. This is also my first time commenting on the video so I am kind of nervous. But I'm taking this leap and commenting about this because I want help. Can anyone give me any thing that has worked for them. Because I have gone not trusting my family for a long time and then trusting my family and loving my family unconditionally but there's still some things I don't trust because my mind is telling me that they're lying to me. Whether it's me asking if I'm annoying them, or if they did something, I really usually won't ask because I don't want them to get upset I'm just a big mess please someone help me. Please someone help me with some sort of information. It is highly appreciated thank you so much

Currently schizoaffective depressive but I've been emotionally blunting for what feels like a lifetime now. The past few days I've felt numb to everything and barely recognize myself in the mirror or register that I'm doing things like moving my hands because it all feels foreign to me. I've come to love the feeling of pain because it at least allows me to feel something, and while I haven't inflicted pain upon myself deliberately yet, I know it's only a matter of time before my mind goes down that rabbit hole and I end up hurting myself. Seeing both a therapist and psychiatrist now and, although I'm on medication and in talk therapy, I don't see a light at the end of this tunnel. I'm completely emotionally shut off, and I either want to start being able to feel things again, or I just want everything to stop, whatever comes first. I'm losing myself and it scares me.

My girlfriend recently had an episode with this a few months ago. We're in a long distance relationship and we keep regular contacts as much as we can. So when it seemed like she dropped off the face of the earth at that time, I started panicking. I only found out where she was when her mom text me telling me she was in the hospital. Took what felt like an eternity to finally get in touch with her. She warned me before we started dating that she could still have a random episode, even though she was taking the proper medication. We've been dating for 4 months now, and I wouldn't have it any other way. She really is the most beautiful person I've ever met. I'm sure if I were to witness an episode from her, it'd definitely scare me, but knowing what she's going through, I'd still be by her side. I love her with everything in me

my father and nonna have schizoaffective disorder. my father was diagnosed the day after he and my mother were married.
ive always had a hard relationship with my father, my mom and i moved out when i was young. my dad has never been able to connect with me for the long term due to his disorder.
my father goes away behind his eyes in a psychotic episode.
ive always had a bit of stigma towards my fathers illness due to what he did to me and my mother when i was young. hes hurt us a lot. and coping with the reality of his mental disorder causing that has always made it harder for me to express my feelings about the trauma. his anhedonia has almost killed me before. i just cant excuse his behaviors. and i think maybe i use his disorder to excuse them too much. which stigmatizes the whole disorder.

My name is Lewis Robert Burton Jr and I go to Thomasville Georgia pines mental health! ( it's not medical services anymore.
I took four depakote tablets to go the hospital in 2015 I had a case of destonia and thing's in the room was spinning! I just needed help
my mother would not take me! When I got checked at the hospital it was hours after I took those Depakote tablets! The doctors wasn't in n hurry at all to save my life! And I've been called a suicidal schizoaffective every since! I was reading through the comments and I seen the word previty that means when you sign a contract with the mental health the law can't get involved! But yet when you in the mental health the law can help the mental health! Is that screwed up! Now I'm screwed up!

Wow, so my friend really does have this disease. But, every time we wanted to help him, he refused. He would really just sit there and not talk about his feelings even though that's what we really want to hear. Because of that, he kept saying my group of ignoring and not helping him when we tried every opportunity to go see him but he just won't open up, if we spoke something that is slightly truthful, he would start to have a tantrum of himself thinking he's always in the right and we're wrong, how are we supposed to talk and help him? This is getting to the point that we are getting too exhausted to help him because he doesn't want to open up help himself. We still got our own work, life and family to deal with. We really don't know what to do anymore.

Ive been battling this for a while now. yhe past 3 years have been awful and not being able to keep a job is the main problem. The doctors and no one seems to want to help. My mom my only family moved away from me last year, probably because this is too much for anyone, and now i have no one, except my 2 children whom i can barely take care of when i cant even take care of myself. I dont want to leave them but this shit is too hard. Their mom has it made with her husband and i know they can provide everything my kids'would need but my father took his life when i was a teen so i know what it does to the kid but as it is now im not a good father so i think they will be okay. Better off than having a pos dad that cant support them. I love you kids

Everywhere I go they always say the same thing: 'schizoaffective disorder is somewhere between schizophrenia and bipolar on the schizophrenia-bipolar spectrum' I wouldn't be surprised if that supposed spectrum no longer is even referenced in the next two DSM's from now.
I want to actually understand the mental disorder. Can you just tell me what symptoms people experience who are diagnosed with the condition? Can you describe what the voice is like? Is it possible that people go their whole lives hearing it but it is more like a loud thought and they don't think they are hearing voices. What are the experiences of people who go through this condition? Can you tell me more specific information please, I'm sure there is some out there.

I just got diagnosed recently with this. I still feel like theres other things wrong but just knowing I have this makes things a lot harder already and makes me question if I even want to know if theres other things wrong with me. Been going through a bad episode the past week, and I dont even know what type I have. I dont know much about this and whenever I try to do research it feels like its the same things repeated over and over again.

This is horse shit. They invented this disease to explain away spiritual warfare. Obsession with religion is a symptom? Use your brain people. It makes me sad that so many people are willing to ruin someone's sense of reality because they told them to. Constant betrayal of family and friends. Your not crazy your chosen. Don't believe what your told. And yes people can hear you when you think at them
What are they all scared of?

You know every doctor told me, This is something youre gonna have to live with for the rest of your life. Like a death sentence. I truly just gave up for 2 decades. But hearing stage 3, that while I may live with it for the rest of my life, things can get better and with proper work I may never experience some lows again. Idk you just kinda reestablished hope and I find myself screaming at myself, STOP GIVING UP!

So your telling me that when I was 6 it wasnt my strong imagination? Ok, so when me and my family were moving into another house we had to sleep on the floor because are beds were in storage(i think. And sometimes late at night I would see a Doberman dog, it wiuld look at me and start to bark. It scared me to death. And now, I see figures walking on all 4 that have no face abd look into my room.

I have this illness. Some days I feel like my dreams have become reality and everything is very magical in a creepy kinda way. Other days Im completely normal. I managed to finish school and Im proud to say that Im graduating next term as a medical laboratory scientist. Dont give up on your dreams even if youre diagnosed with something such as this illness.
reply

Dude it's so weird when the hallucinations first show up. Its completely out of nowhere and your whole life feels like it's changing or something. To describe it, it's magical in the worst way possible. Everything feels slower and disorganized. If I have this, I think I'm at phase one. I really hope it doesn't get worse because it's already pretty bad.
reply

Thank you for the information this helps me understand so much more. If you have a partner, family member, or friend with any mental illness or disorders I believe that you should research the condition so that you can be more understanding of certain behavior and be there for then when they are struggling, rather than misinterpret their symptoms.

I'm speechless, I was diagnosed with this when I was 18 years old. I haven't gone looking for info on it in fear of people calling me a liar. The big bois at the top of the block keep denying me disability. I'm on round 3 of trying to get it, because my father decided to make me get a job while waiting on the second round.

Prodrome
I- no
Why
Every single thing they listed applies to me; Paranoia, problem concentrating, depression(Not too serious, insomnia, anxiety, and becoming distant
And I've recently started kinda hallucinating and feeling like my life isn't real and it's not actually happening.

reply

Lucky me, it's not as bad as schizophrenia but it's worse than bipolar, though to be fair mania lasts about 5 minutes and a few days of feeling you're literally in hell and hospitalisation for about 2 months and medication and distress for all parties concerned, it could be worse
