Am I okay? Friends and family have been saying Ive been acting weird and my parents have been asking if Im okay. Before I was positive I was okay but now Im not so sure.
The forced positive coping is what Ive been relying on my whole life, I never knew it was unhealthy.
I guess recently Ive been really stressed, overwhelmingly stressed where I felt like was gonna have a heart attack, I mean I knew THAT was unhealthy but I dont know how to fix it.
Scrolling thru the comments I saw one saying it how their mom would tell them to think of their worries as strings and to put them on her nightstand and decide if you wanted to leave them in the morning. I never thought about it that way before and that made me feel a little better.
I would always prepare myself for the worst so Id know how to react but now I realized its unhealthy and Ill find out how to cope better

I just went through something traumatic and I barely remember any of it, anytime somebody brings it up I change the subject quickly because I dont like to think about it. Its gotten to the point where my body is giving me so many signs of stress, (chest pain, fatigue, twitching, stomach problems, etc) and I feel confused because people say what I went through was traumatic but I never really recognized it like that, I honestly dont even know. All I know is that my physical health is declining and sucks ass but my mental health is just blank and numb, I usually try to push back all my problems and forget about them.

. oh, shit.
edit:
Okay, first of i don't really know how i do feel, ive been thinking a LOT recently.
I dont know if my positivity sometimes is toxic, since people in the past has told me that crying is useless and cant fix anything other than make you look ugly. Thinking about it, all i have to say to those people is screw you.
I also think a lot about the past, And honestly it kinda. Sucked. It wasnt bad bad, but it wasnt the best. I find it harder to talk to people i dont really know about compared to the past, maybe something went wrong? I dont really know.
Im just living i guess

I can relate mostly with forced positivity and represing my feelings. This last year has been my worst. I kind of realized that life is very hard to deal with and that I havent progressed in any way. That led me to a very depresed state. That overlook of me and my grey future made me break up with my girlfriend. It all started becoming worse after that. I got injured in a previous operated knee and now I can bearly walk. My dad almost died after cutting himself with a saw.
I am inside a fake bubble, too scared and lost to move.

My coping mechanism is shopping sprees (which would fired back at me for buying too many things unfortunately, emotional eating (I'll just keep shoving food and it doesn't taste anything, wouldn't fill me up either, and finally maladaptive daydreaming which could take as long as a day (especially for someone that is studying from home like me)
Repressing emotions is common, it can't be help truly especially when you are not surrounded by your comfort people.

What i have
1: 16
2: 31
4: 26
5: 40 (day dreaming)
And i never and won't tell my parents cuz I already know what they will say even though I sometimes show in my actions cuz I have bottled everything up but it leads for my parents to shout on me not to do that type of that reaction again.
So i just keep my mind busy by daydreaming or watching the thing i love / obsessied with (Ninjago) and even if they tell me why r u watching this!

A tool to help overcome this need to catastrophize would be,
3: 47
to allow yourself to think of the five top worst outcomes.
3: 51
And then, ask yourself,
3: 52
how likely they are to actually happen.
3: 55
If you feel like a bad outcome is truly likely,
3: 58
then plan for that one outcome,
4: 00
create a plan that is flexible
4: 02
and doable in case it needs to change.

I just lost my kitten today. I bawled out alone but ended up repressing my feelings in front of my family because we never show those kind of emotions in public. My father is the over react type so he would blame things on other people and so does my mother sometimes, I either do the opposite or like I said, repress my emotions. So, this would look like that I didn't care and they'll end up getting mad at me.

I use to have fatalism, but since I failed so many times I just accept that accidents happens and I'm trying my best to not let that happen too frequently.
Daydreaming with nostalgia is my utter coping mechanism. I even created a whole universe with imaginary friends that works as a submarine during my space-out. And it really sucks my presence off reality: ( Their sadness is my sadness too.

My biggest struggle is with Isolating myself. I always do, from family, friends, and even the mirror of my room. My friends didnt know I was depressed until I told one of them. I was instantly hit with guilt and shame for feeling this way and neglected to tell even my closest family members. If you struggle with depression, you arent alone. Many people suffer from it and can help you.

My therapist wants me to show some emotion when talking about my abuse. I can't see the point. I had a very abusive childhood and then married a very abusive man. I learnt years ago not to show emotion, it only leads to trouble. She also wants me to be more sociable. I've also tried joining groups I just don't fit in. I don't need more trauma from being rejected once more.

My recent coping mechanism from stressful days at work is reading novels. I have awakened my childhood passion of reading through a common friend who is also a bookworm. But I realize this is also under the umbrella of self isolation since i tend to be alone away from the crowd while reading. Is this hobby considered as a toxic coping mechanism? What do you think guys?

when I'm mad, sad, anxious, or any other bad emotions, I bite and chew on my lip. I also hit things like pillows. Another common thing I do is pretend I'm talking to somebody about my problem. that usually makes me feel better too. I also clean, give myself a break from people, daydream, or make myself happy.

It seems I use forced positivity and to help with using that I combine repressing my feelings with it and because repressing my feelings becomes easier if I do it I end up using fatalism to prepare to repress emotions that come up in those bad outcomes
Mmm delicious, bad coping habit stew!

I dont know why, but any positive coping mechanisms just do not work: (
They seem to take my attention away from problems, but as soon as I stop doing them I realise that nothing changed and I feel just the same. I cant distract myself always

I can not express how much your videos are helping me in this extremely trying time. I have and am still going through this, but your videos are a spark of light in my deep, dark mental dungeon. So, thanks. Thanks for being there.

I'm okay with the rest, but the idea that isolating yourself even if you're surrounded by assholes is bad is a bit ludicrous to me. Some of us have to live with a terrible family. Being around them is quite clearly detrimental.

My ways of coping with stress are to watch tv or just hiding my emotions. Its a really unhealthy way to do it but I get scared of my emotions sometimes. Is there any way to help with this?

Maybe you like to turn up the music and sing in the car. These coping mechanisms are healthy because they aren't harmful to you or others Tell that to anyone who's ever heard me sing.

Our primordial brains are wired to avoid being hunted. Now we go to school, where despite our intellectual and societal advancements, there is still a danger of being hunted.

One of my unhealthy coping strategy is daydreaming, like I daydream while watching this video and I realized its end and I didn't note anything. I needed to rewatch this mindfully.
