PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) a lot of people say it's just a nightmare, wake up your fine. Your just doing it for attention. but it's not the case. I suffer from PTSD every day, and without my meds because of all the trauma I have gotten from multiple years of abuse, violence, so on. I get flash backs, black out, flight/freeze/flee senses kicks to high gear, out burst of violent actions or sayings, reliving negative moments, and acted out whatever I see of that flash back. With me talking with my therapist helps including meditation, doing a Safety Plan for when you feel like an episode is about to start you can look on your Safety Plan to help you calm down, and tons and TONS of time and patience. Its EXTREMELY difficult but without this I would be dead because of my systems are so bad, it would cause a lot of physical problems/damage. This condition is not only for military soldiers or military families, it's for ANYONE who experiences long and very negative trauma for multiple years without treatment.

Selective mutism is wildly misunderstood and not very known. Its an anxiety disorder which is the inability to speak/communicate in certain situations or around certain people. Due to the freeze response. Just like flight/fight respond he freeze response is an automatic response to a threat and is uncontrollable. Which makes talking very difficult and for some moving at all. Its usually known as a sever child anxiety disorder, affecting 1in 140 children. But can be developed later on in life. Its also very easily mistaken for shyness and if left untreated they people can suffer for years. As someone with SM theres have been many times students, teachers and even family members who have forced me to talk. But that only made things worse. I really wish SM was more spoken about and more people were educated. But they shouldnt be suffering in silence.

I dont think they should include only 6 invisible disabilities/metal disorders, there are others like autism, adhd, add, anxiety and more
whats also incredibly important is to know that there are different types of these disorders and everyone experiences them in different ways, which is probably why we take in assumptions about them that may look completely different from your type of that disorder.
all a disorder/disability means is that your brain works differently and you might struggle with things that other people might not and you might find some things really easy that others find really difficult.
a disorder is NOT and NEVER will be a choice, either you were born with it or you have developed it over time.
you should always remember these inspiring quotes and remember you are only human

I have OCD. Contrary to most people here, I don't particularly get bothered by people using it as a term to generalize quirks or being highly organized-- I understand it is an exasperation.
High levels of distress is a minimal way to describe effects on life of OCD. Often times, as part of treatment, we cannot do anything for hours until the thoughts go away, otherwise we risk activities becoming compulsive. It completely takes away from our lives, and depending on what subtype of OCD we have, it can ruin relationships and take away focus from the things that really matter in life. Subconscious thoughts that most people naturally filter out will sit in our conscious, taking up mental capacity, until we do some behavior to relieve it-- only further reinforcing the thoughts. Also, afaik, there is no cure.

As a person with depression people will tell me just be happier its so mischievous more than that. If I could be happier I totally would. Another misunderstood disorder is misophonia. Its becoming more understood and there is a lot more recent information on it lately. And Ill tell people I dont like some sounds and they really bother me and they just say oh a ton of peop, e dont like chewing its not just that its pretty much all sounds humans make other than talking, singing, or humming for me. And it makes you want to hurt the person doing it or just break down. Some people are more sensitive to more sounds and others less but a ton of peop, e dont have it.

I actually don't think Schizophrenia is that misunderstood.
People do acknowledge it's seriousness, and don't disrespect it.
A Schizophrenian will never be told just stop hallucinating, or things like that. Unlike other mental disorders, like depression or anxiety, where other people just tell you: just stop being sad Or just stop overthinking.
It isn't the case with Schizophrenia.
The general public actually acknowledges how it's a severe nearly untreatable mental ilness, and people usually don't encourage the person with their advices.
I don't think Schizophrenia is a widely misunderstood condition.

As someone with a few of these disorders myself, I can confirm this is what it feels like. For example, if I'm having a panic attack and start worrying about the smallest things, people always get confused and say get over it. Same thing with my depression. People say Why are you so sad? You have no reason to be! And I believed it. So anyone out there with any disorders, just know you are supported by many people, and that people who say things like this should be ignored as best you can and that talking to someone always helps!

We are so happy that you included DID in this video, as someone with DID it sucks to lose friends or family due to the negative portrayal of DID in media, since in the past we've lost a few friends because they thought that we were dangerous killers and they were scared of us. We are happy that recently on YT and Tiktok a lot of DID systems are speaking up against the negative portrayal of DID especially movies like Split and how that has damaged the community. - Ahdramaleck

Here's one id like y'all to be aware of: PMDD- Premenstrual dysphoric disorder. The rage is like IED (intermittent explosive disorder. I will tear your head off or slice you deep with words during PMDD. I also cannot control the outbursts so I won't socialize a specific week every month. It is sooooo misunderstood. My limbic system is jacked up from lifelong abuse so that's a contributing factor too.
But PMDD, y'all. Get familiar with this savage disorder.

I miss autism. You may have left it out since autism isn't always a bad thing and therefore not a true disorder like MDD. But then again, it's hugely misunderstood. Especially if you're high-functioning, people will either ask you to show normal behaviour or expect you to stay away altogether. People, I venture in society because I need love and company just like you do, but there are /some/ tasks I won't perform as well as you.

Chrono fatigue is also extremely misunderstood, people always tell me just go to bed earlier Im tired too thats the same as burnout, I have that no, it doesnt work that way, chronic fatigue doesnt go away no matter how much sleep you get (hence the word CHRONIC) and burnout is completely different but I dont know how to explain it. With chronic fatigue you can even get out of bed, just lifting an arm can be impossible to do

As someone suffering from bipolar disorder, I hate when people say Ah, and I'm bipolar! just because they are moody or a bit energetic. You wouldn't go around saying you have cancer so lightly, so you shouldn't talk about a another illness like that.
My go to when this happens is When were you diagnosed? which always confuses them. It's like they don't even know it's an actual disease.

THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT CYCLOTHYMIC DISORDER OMGGGGG NO ONE TALKS ABOUT IT but its more complicated than that our ups and down can be a lot, the idea is just that were rapid cycling and it has similarities with borderline personality disorder in the way our emotions are extreme. Its actually often misdiagnosed as BPD because so few ppl know about that mental illness.

why do i show so much of things that match a lot of mental dissorders but probably i dont have any? and oh boy i was so wrong about bipolar dissorder, i got a talk about that with my bsf for some unknown reason and she thought that schizofrenmia was bipolar dissorder (thinking that bipolar was the DID, we both were wrong here) and bipolar dissorder was schizofremia

I have a friend who's both schizophrenic and has OCD as well. I love her so much. Hearing about all the painful experiences and misunderstandings she's had with both friends and family in her past really makes my heart ache, but it's true. I'm glad she's in a better place now and that awareness of these things is being spread out bit by bit

Today's video is more on a serious and educational video. There's a chance serious videos tend not to perform well. When you get a chance please share this video that might help educate others around 6 most misunderstood mental disorders. It will help a lot with our mission on spreading awareness around mental health and Psychology content.

As someone with OCD and Bipolar? It pisses me off when people try to water down these two and slap it on to a character who simply doesn't have it. Lookin at people who say twilight sparkle has ocd or how people say Rapunzel, Anna, and many other princesses have adhd or bipolar. This. Isn't. True. #STOPTHELIES

Im diagnosed professionally with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia but my friend refuses to believe me and thinks that Im just sad. It really annoys me when she thinks she has the same mental disorder as me, and apparently voices and energy spikes are normal and everyone gets them.
