A lot of the comments literally took the word gifted to mean we all have special talents, gifts, and things we are good at. The term gifted is used to describe a percentage of people who has a brain difference compared to a normal brain. It's the same concept as those with depression, trauma, and Alzhemier's having their brain literally change and rewired. If we were to call gifted something like Neurodivergent Disorder, I feel a lot of people will not be leaving these comments of everyone has gifts, because the word disorder is not a positive word.
High achievers / smart individuals who people tend to see as the one with good grades, higher IQ, and perform academically well are not always gifted and vice versa. Giftedness is where you can perform at higher levels than your peers in more than one domain: creative, intellectual, artistic, academic, and leadership. This is why a lot of gifted students can go unnoticed if only an IQ test or report card was used.
Not everyone is gifted and it doesn't have to mean it's a bad thing. School curriculum are usually designed to meet normal development and needs, so if you fall into normal development it doesn't mean you have no special talents or is dumb. It means you are meeting milestones and development for your age - and that is a good thing too, so don't downplay the needs of giftedness. Gifted programs are a way to address another need within a certain type of students and learners. Many of you wouldn't downplay the needs of those who has Austism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, learning disorders, and etc. Most likely because these have been more of a negative diagnosis.
So, if you aren't gifted don't feel excluded and offended; you are actually included. A lot of things in society are built around the normal brain and average human being. Being gifted can be a curse and/or blessing.

I have come to understand I was a gifted child and I am a gifted adult. I struggle with fitting in because telling people you have your own challenges as a gifted individual makes you a pompous jerk to most people. I have always been curious and recently took a few assessments to rule out autism or adhd. The doctor said my processing speed is high and above most of my peers. I always feel like my brain is thinking deeply and vastly into many topics and ideas and many people around me are on square one. It makes me feel alone and I struggle to connect.

When I was in 10th grade l was in a special education class in math, English and biology. I feel under challenged and easily frustrated with doing the easy work. I said this is too easy and I'm curious I ask lots of questions about anything to my mom that she doesn't have the answer. I'm super eager to learn more and when I get something not right I get mad I want it to get it perfect each time and when I sleep I get really weird dreams.

Something I think I do that is not like everyone and makes me feel weird but I also enjoy it and comforts me.
Create imaginary scenarios in your mind and ask them out whether you're in public or wherever if something simulates you to think of something else and then acting that out, like a scene within a scene.
Or a lot of times listening to music will create a whole entire story line with images and vision inside my mind.

Sadly I grew up with parents that want me and my siblings to always have straight As but they dont even want us to achieve what we want to achieve. So sadly if I happen to get rich somehow one day I dont think my parents would deserve any of the share. They may have given us birth but I feel like they only did that for their own reputation. Because all they did was insulted instead of motivate us to help achieve what we wanted to.

i guess i was one until i started dealing with burnout in my high school years. it's not easy to cope up with the expectations of several hundreds and slowly u reach a stage of losing all their beliefs upon you. the only ones having a lil hope expect u to bounce back and prove urself again. but. nobody talks abt how to. hurts more when u re in no condition to make them understand this or ask for a small break.

If you ask my opinion, Being Gifted is not about only the personalities, But also what you have in your life. like you Family, friends, Happiness also sadness.
Don't forget that your life is also a gift for you even we all know that we didn't wish for that.
That's why don't overthink if you're gifted, because we all know that we're all Gifted here.
Just we need to find it and treasure it.

On Monday, after I drink all the coffee and take all the vitamins and write all the pages and so forth, I'm gonna go to the laundromat, I'm gonna wash all the smells and the spilt foods out of my clothes so that I can wear them again, keep drinking coffee, keep taking vitamins, potentially write more pages.
It's for the best of things. Take my word for it.

everyone's gifted in your own way, but the majority of people who think they're gifted aren't, at least not in the way this video is talking about. being gifted seems great, but it means thinking in a different way, getting bored easily or hyper focusing on things, giving up the minute something seems difficult. i was diagnosed in the first grade

Thank you. I felt so alone for so long and haven't felt so understood and seen in such a long time. This means nothing of course - we all have our own struggles, character flaws, and weaknesses we must battle daily - but this does answer much, so thank you for making this video. May all us weirdos band together to create beautiful things

When trying to figure out somebodys IQ, it is as of right now difficult. There is still so much we still have not learned about the brain and nervous system. To think you are superior than other people because of your IQ shows your inferiority, rather than superiority

Perfect is unobtainable, always has been, other than that this has been the closest to describing me. My school grades did suck but that was because i did very little school work but i passed every test i ever took, even subjects i hated like english.

I relate to all of these, it really made my day better because lately I have been down grading all of my passions and making me feel worse and not putting that much effort into my school work, but this really cheered me up. Thank you!

Yup. describes a lot of me. but not all
Sometimes I think that I am just lazy. Other times I don't want to do anything. And then are the times I'll do it tomorrow. I mean the day after that. No! Next week! Next month!

I'm actually suprised that most of these signs are so common in me I thought gifted person are people who are smarts and talented in something since birth. Didn't know until this day, thank you Psych2Go!

I started drawing portraits of people at age 7. Soon my parents at age 10 I had to study. I legit wasted my potential studying. I feel depressed. Any help on how to get my hobby back?
reply

Being a person who ask questions rather than answering them makes them a rebel more likely than a gifted person to their surroundings. At least this is what I experienced
reply

I'm curious, how would you distinguish what you describe here as giftedness, from ADHD?
How would you pull those apart? Or how do they fit together for you? Thx. x
