I honestly need to get this off my chest. I have a crush on my best friend and I have no clue if she likes me back. During school, we would always hold hands and be super affectionate. I would always rest my head on her shoulder but it wasnt one sided. This one time, I was helping her with something on her computer, she came up from behind and rested her head on my shoulder. I wanted to scream in pure joy. Now that its summer we dont see each other a whole lot. But, we managed to go to our towns fun fest. We hung out the whole day. We even got matching face paintings from a romance song! I love you to the moon and Saturn I got Saturn, and she got the moon. Now its an inside joke. Anyways, we decided to sit down about an hour before the fireworks. We sat down, she started to read heartstopper on her phone (she showed me some of the comics) and I was reading fan fiction on Ao3 (I was showing her some) I decided to rest my head on her shoulder, and I swear she put her head on mine for a few seconds, until we heard someone yell RELATIONSHIPS START OUT AS FRIENDSHIPS we both jolted out head up and laughed, and then resumed our current position. Except she didnt put her head back. Then, the fire works started. We moved closer for a better view, and I once again put my head on her shoulder. I noticed she was shivering and I offered my sweater at least 10 times, but she said no, Im not sure if she really didnt want to, or if she was embarrassed. Anyways, I put my head on her shoulder while watching fireworks, and It felt straight out of a rom com. Except were not in Highschool, and from afar we just seem like two girls hanging out. I was worried that we wouldnt hang out more, but she sent me a video of a couple painting eachother with styrofoam heads, she said we should do that and now we have plans Friday. Oh we never had a sleepover since her parents are somewhat strict, but she has been to my house for my birthday. Does anybody have advice that isnt tell her how you feel! (Oh also every night I would say goodnight love you and at first she wouldnt respond, which was fine. But after a few days she started responding, sometimes even saying it first)

All I could think about while watching this video was a video my crush and I filmed at school after a student council event. It was around 8, so we joked that we now have exclusive footage of the school. I did jazz squares in an area blocked off by caution tape while we were both laughing hysterically. It was awesome.
And just for context, the sectioned off area wasn't actually dangerous or anything, it was just to prevent kids from ripping the posters hanging on the wall

How would a date work if the person I like is my best friend. She said there was no chance I'd get with her before, but as time passed, I feel like she has been giving subtle hints, which is really confusing for me. Because at the end of the day, she those hints are probably her js being her since she is my best friend, or maybe she has drawn feelings for me. I'm not really sure.

This is especially difficult for me because I'm Autistic so eye contact was always something I avoided. I'm learning how to make eye contact in casual conversation but whenever I liked someone I would always turn away from them the second they looked back at me. I didn't know I should let my eye contact linger until now.
