I was hoping for advice to stay single rather than a list of conjectures as to why I'd want to be single. The only signs I relate to is 1) the fear of losing independence, which I'm sad to say is something I've witnessed too many times in other people's relationships, and makes me think that finding a partner that would actually respect my independence and personality would be like finding a needle in a haystack, and more trouble than it's worth; 2) setting too many dealbreakers: I don't expect perfection from anyone, but I do expect a special someone to improve my life rather than hinder it, and most people that I positively appreciate and value in my life - not just romantic partners - are people whose company I enjoy for only a limited time, so the thought of someone being there everyday and for a long time (or expecting me to be there everyday for her, or calling her, worrying about her, etc) is not a thought that appeals to me at all, and sadly it's something that describes 100% of the women who are looking for relationships that I know - I'm sure there might be a hidden gem somewhere that would respect my desire to be alone for long periods of time, while also potentially being interested in me, but again, it seems like finding her would be more effort than it's worth.

A complete waste of time dating is a complete and total utter failure I've always been told that I have anxiety and supposedly depressional issue not my fault but the last three relationships I've had they all cheated on me how about having one that cheats on you with over 100 different men and under 6 months that's always a nice way to tell you that you're worthless. I probably asked out over a hundred different women over the last 25 years look younger than I ever thought I would at my age and I'm looking for now is a medication that shuts off the part of the brain so I don't have to think about any of that ever again. To me a real woman is something that will only exist in fairy tale stories myth and legends they are not real they never have been and they never will be. I forgot the book of seductive romantic poetry second foot entitled dark passion even more useless the women do not exist only females do and they don't believe in intimacy. Mr. J

I have fancied 2 or 3 people in my life yet I have never once been in a relationship, as much as I understand about romance relationships & marriage I am insecure about them, I'd prefer to be single forever heck even if I would want that again eventually due to nature calling me I would rather others or myself deny me the chance at romance or having a partner in a relationship, still I'd prefer to be single & happy over everything else the most but in the case of relationships romantic partners including marriage I would rather be lonely & insecure about these things in real life it's not for me to experience, sometimes it might be a lonely life yet I am happier being single regardless on how it makes me feel, nature is weird yet I guess I'm weird about the topics of relationships romantic partners & marriage if it where to pop up or prosent itself in real life to me oh well I will keep it all fictional at least doing that it'll keep me happy in life

The society (especially where i live) always stigmatize being single. They taught us being in a relationship (married) is a must do, everyone tells that one of the ways of being happy or finding the meaning of life comes from having a family which i personally believe is a false notion. But they still manage you to question what you believe is best for you, to doubt oneself etc. Such typa outside influences might get to us and we might find ourselves in a place or position we don't wanna be and totally screwed up. So don't let society brainwash you, deep down we all know what we want out of life, some people want relationship some don't, YOUR life so YOU get to do whatever you want not the society.
(I'm sorry if there are any mistakes English isn't my 1L)

I remember my mom screaming, and yelling at me when I was a kid, and would cause me to either go quiet, or run away.
My boyfriend plays videogames a lot when we are on voice call (Long distance relationship for over a year now, and he yells angrily a lot when he does; I become quiet, and my flight instincts kick in.
I will say that trauma has definitely seeped into my relationship with him, along other things.
My mom has anger issues, and he has anger issues. so I end up in a way, associating him with what happened in my childhood.
He'll say vulgar, violent things when playing games as well.
I've told him how it makes me feel, but it feels like he never tries to stop.
It may be fault for not sayingthing anything in the moment though

Honestly growing up a homeschooled navy brat probably did it for me. My circle was pretty small but whenever it had expanded significantly it was time to move again. I always feel late to the party because I would show up in tight knit groups and didnt have a way in. Everyone knew each other and often that was enough for them.
I havent been asked out more than three times in my whole life, and the one time I went for a guy I thought was compatible he announced he was going to become a Catholic priest.
Once I started working, I spent most time with older, married coworkers who had no time for socializing.
I dont know, man, seems like Im stuck single.

I was married for 23 months, to the day. After the divorce, when anyone would ask me anything about marriage, I'd say that, Never again will I do that (i. e. marry) to someone I actually like! I've been in several relationships that resemble marriage to casting degrees, and I've always been aware that never again is subject to change. My partner is 55 years old today, and I will be 50 in a6 weeks or so, so marriage isn't an urgent concern for withe of us, though we've both considered it multiple times. It's a vague possibility, and for now we're happy with that. I love him with all my heart, and he feels the same about me, and that's what counts right now.

I know, right? But is it better knowing? No, I don't think so. I just wonder endlessly about the last one. Am I still doing the same mistakes over and over again? Or am I actually learning and doing a new ones every time? Or something in between? Because sometimes it feels like: Eureka! This was wrong! I'm gonna do it different next time. And I do. And it's also wrong. So was I right at first? And it fails just the same. Did it failed for the same reason and nothing is actually right or was it something else altogether? Both ways had their merits and pitfalls. Maybe I just can't find the balance.

I decided a long time ago that I didn't want a relationship in life (at least not a romantic one) First and foremost because I have seen far too many relationships go south (from my parents constant arguing between each other and talking behind each other's backs to friends and co workers sharing stories about their relationships or relationships they have seen turn for the worst) and second is because the thought of a romantic relationship just dosen't interest me. I would rather just have friends, or stay completely by myself (honestly being by myself is the preferred option if I had to choose)
reply

The reality is romantic relationships are based on many factors but one of them that is critical is burden of performance. Unlike with friends where burden of performance is fairly minimal, in a relationship you are judged not only by your accomplishments but by qualities you have no control over (height, looks etc. I want relationship with friends because I know we car for each other almost entirely based on our own actions. No relationship is purely like that but romantic relationships are probably the farthest from ideal.

4: 36 I assure you it is very conscious. And as for romcoms I made a setting to play unhealthy crap shown in them realistically.
Edit: the reason I choose to stay single is because of the way media portrays romance. An all encompassing saccharine void that causes both parties to sacrifice their identity, independence, and sense of self. Essentially becoming one being. (For Star Trek fans, think a two person Borg collective) and anybody who doesnt want that is seen as weird or in the worst cases are portrayed as evil.

Relationships are disposable these days. Don't take my word for it -- look at the way so many women plan out their divorces before the poor sap has even proposed, down to cornering the market for divorce attorneys. And that's just the increasingly slim proportion of cases where the man actually seeks the traditional route!
Having seen the narrator in her pink-haired glory, I can't say her use of SIGN (Shaming, Insults, Guilt, Need to be right) language comes as such a surprise.

I came here to find ways to stay single. I adore being single and have no desire to fall in love again - lots of work and only ok returns. I'm financially ok, don't want kids, have a great family, lots of loving friends, and lots of hobbies and interests. I like to date sometimes - men rock - but I have no desire to couple up. PLEASE CREATE A REAL VIDEO ON HOW NOT TO FALL IN LOVE SO WE CAN STAY HAPPILY SINGLE! Everyone doesn't want to be in a relationship!

I get so discouraged after hearing stuff like learn to love being alone
enjoy your single time
theres nothing wrong w being single
I call BS Ive been single my entire life (almost 22) and I am sooo tired of being alone. I have no friends and never been in a relationship.
I just wanna be in love and know what that feels like. I want to share my happy moments with someone else. I want to be in a healthy loving romantic RELATIONSHIP

Though I have nearly all these qualities, Im not planning to change anytime soon. The only exception is learning from my past mistakes. Personally, I dont think theres anything wrong with being permanently single. Society often feels pity for women who dont get married and/or have children. However, each person has a right to choose their lifestyle, as long as it doesnt infringe upon others civil and human rights.

I've been out of the game for more than 6 years. I understood something important for me. If you do not know who you are and what do you want in your life you'll never ever feel happy in any relationship. Even if you find sb you can get along pretty well the lack of self awareness can be destructive and toxic to the other person. So, it's better to stay low and single until you figure yourself out. Thank you.

When my ex broke up with me, she was actually really nice about it, but it still hurt me deeply. I now realize that it wasnt worth putting myself through all that grieving and emotional pain, because being single really isnt that bad.
I have no plans to ever date again though. I have no desire to waste anyone elses time or potentially put anyone else through the same pain that my breakup put me in.

reply

Im grateful for this.
Yeah not gonna lie I have fear of happiness and scared of commitment through not being able to be independent purely for self love reasons because well I know how addictive a relationship with a person who can seem right at the time can be and I need time to focus on myself and my goals as well not just for myself but in general

Relationship with who? A woman who believes that friendship is abuse and negativity. Who the hell would ever think that makes people want anything to do with them? Or modern dating where a woman thinks that they are masculine alphas and can't even pretend to be feminine? Solitude and celibate is the only way to avoid a compromised immune system
reply

Yes being afraid of happiness is a thing. In my experience its most often out of guilt about something or a feeling of undeservedness. Sometimes it can even be a dependency on the sadness or depression as part of ones identity and they are scared to loose it. If its all three of those I really sympathize.

Whether you are looking for a relationship or not, I highly recommend checking out The Personal Development School with Thais Gibson. This isnt a paid advertisement or anything. I just have experienced for myself the benefits not just in romantic relationships, but in every area of life.

What went sideways? Probably some car. Accident supposedly happened now she dead or something.
Don't feel like doing that again, relationships are tiring. I've already had to deal with my friend's relationships before, probably have to again, don't need my own problems.

i rather stay mgtow lol, especially when it comes to marriage, good luck beating a 75% chance, its not about love or dreams anymore, its about being at the pinnacle of the dominance hierarchy financially, this is not nihilism but realism. yall can do whatever yall want

While all of my friends chase their crushes, I'm the only one who doesn't even have a crush or plan to be in a relationship: / Probably cause my standards are too high from watching too much anime and dramas

My list of requirements in a potential significant other have pretty much boiled down to: single, not psycho. Both are exceedingly rare traits so I'm' thinking about dropping the ladder. :D
