Are We Born Evil? (According To Psychology)

Are humans inherently good or evil? Are we born altruistic saints who are temporarily corrupted by bad influences, or are we born selfish sinners who need taming by society? The debate over human nature is probably as old as humanity itself. What does psychology say about this question? Here are some studies that shed light on whether humans are inherently good or evil. Have you ever wondered by good people turn bad? This video explains it all

Humanity by nature is violent. In all of these examples, the participants were given plenty of time to develop. Which has tainted all of the research involved.
The fact people have to be told Don't hurt others is a big clue on this topic. There was a study done a long time ago, Behind closed doors. Some guy asked people in an anonymous setting what their darkest fantasies were. The results as far as I know were never really shared, However they later said If every one were honest about their fantasies, No one would dare speak to another.
That was covered on Adults, Who outside of a Societal setting, Who had plenty of time to develop in a hyper critical societal setting, Still had dark and probably highly illegal desires. Are we born evil? Most likely, yes.
We have to be taught that our nature is bad. Every one is Equal Does Humanity not have a leadership system? In that leadership system, do some not get more then others? Some don't get any at all. While some gorge themselves on a meal that on any other country, would feed the whole village. You don't need a 32 ounce steak. You don't need a 6 ounce steak.
The fact we have to be told to share is a clue on this topic.

In my opinion and experiences with me. I've met some jealous, narcissistic, nasty, people in my life. who is still that way. in person or from my hometown. and these people. think they're all that. to the point they can be very nasty to people who don't think the same as them, don't put themselves below them, dont follow them. and etc. you will get treated differently from being your own person, wit tour own style, and your own opinions and you're not a yes person all the time or an $$ kisser. so I'm kist saying as far as myself I see myself as a very kind person but you mistake my kindness for weakness. then I'll show my evil side towards until the end of time. because shitty people will always treat you a certain way. if you're nice or not. You can accomplish so many things and certain people will just say or treat you so little like you're under them abd you're not. so I believe that people have a nice genuine kindness and sweet to them. but act evil towards people who TRY to treat you differently

Like most say, we are neither born good nor bad. We arent even born with a clear knowledge of a threat to our survival. A baby gets hungry or feels uncomfortable so it cries. Adults have learnt this indicates a problem and seek to solve it. The baby has no consciousness that its condition threatens its existence let alone good or bad. From there we learn that good and bad things are not a simple judgement. No one is born with the ability to judge unless they are Damien from Omen.
I wonder am I good or bad a person after learning the difference. Only someone else can judge. I am not a theist, but I have faith in this animal which invented morality. It seems criminal to suggest we are bad by nature given that kind of evidence. Sure, we dont always behave good because we have morality, but we wouldnt even know we were behaving badly if we didnt have morality.
whilst recognising we can behave badly is an extremely good perspective.

I just stand firm by my personal opinion that something like human morality can be based on like a figurate spectrum from bad to neutral to good or something and it can be our personal or shared experieces that shape our views like the concept of good or bad/evil and since every individual is the same as the others yet so different from the others (like e. g no one else in the word is the exact same as you and yet we're capable of relating or sympathizing with others through like similair experiences we've gone through like the death of a loved one, and we can be just as very selfless as we can be very selfish.

Do you call that psychology, it's all garbage the tests that were done. You people think you are smart because you have a peice of paper saying you went through University to receive that paper and all its good for is wiping your ass. After watching this video I'm not even going to bother if that's the way use all study. Get out in the real life and learn what people are really like and take a good hard look at what types run the world, you will get the shock of your life when you realise who and what they are.

I asked this question to my friends and family, here are their responses:
Dad: It's like the Yin&Yang, the balance between the universe, One cannot exist without the other, there needs to be chaos so that there could be justice. Remember, it's about the balance.
My classmates
Person A: There are more evil than good, it's just that evil people are good at pretending to be good.
Person B: If that's so then I'm evil and I don't hide it!
Me replying to person B: The textbook definition of

Now this is how kids when they're not so innocent. I see it as how they nasty ass parents raided them. like how kids look at people who is a little overweight or different. I believe that if kids stare. which is okay because little kids go out for the first time being in public looking at different kinds of people. but I've seen kids being very rude and nasty towards different people as well. at a young very young age. so I blame the parents. how are you raising this child? Inquire mind want to know

If your talking about origins of the beginning of human life, then yes we are create as good, Genesis 1: 31, however As a result of sin, which came from the spiritual being (serpent, made all of mankind sin which results in seperation (death) in the spiritual life which causes a barrier between God and his children which are all of you!

I believe we humans are born evil
When toddlers saw something they wanted, they immediately stole it from another toddler. They were selfish, although no one taught them to be that way. Often, when a toddler was stolen from, they hit the other toddler who stole from them. I guarantee you, no one taught that toddler to hit and hurt someone. Humans, I believe, are born selfish, unkind, and uncaring. Kindness is learned. And, to be kind, you must fight against human nature.

Studies show that you are giving children a bad name. I really hope you realize that this video is an absolute train wreck. Because it makes me really upset that people would think that children are naturally evil. Let alone actual children believing themselves to be evil. Plus I feel like youre really generalizing people here. I dont know but can you please at least do a double check of the evidence of this video especially when it comes to children.

I dont believe theres anything called good people and bad people, as everyone has their own side to the story. Although murder, rape, etc is unforgivable, terrible, and indeed bad, the person / people think what theyre doing is the right thing to do ( I know there can be exceptions, and theres almost always a reason behind their actions. Some more. reasonable, than others. Ive done bad things, we all have. It doesnt make us bad people.

I think we enjoy seeing others hurt because that awares us how someone can hurt us. This must have been very important for our ancestors to survive from an attack.
Or as I say, See others hurt so you don't get hurt
But we help other people to have a bond with them so that when time comes they help us out. This must also have been very important for our ancestors to survive
Or as I say, apes together strong (Teamwork to survive)

It might be ignorant to compare humen to animals that hunt and kill for living but again.
is a tiger killing a deer evil?
Is an orca killing a seal just to toy with its corpse evil?
Is a hunter gatherer killing other another one just to take his food evil?
The answer is no we aren't the perfect pure creation we are just. part of this world just like them with with a tiny bit of what it called. intelligence sauce

I think people are good by nature, it's circumstances, indoctrination, pressure, and abuse that can mold and warp your views to justify bad things, even if you do them with good intentions.
Like the mass baptisms by force that kingdoms used to do, they wanted to save their people and develop their kingdoms, but people were sadly killed when they resisted. It was a terrible thing done in good intentions.

If humans were inherently good then we wouldn't be sitting on the edge of world war three. Humans are serial killers and if you think that's hyperbole then you have absolutely no understanding of the animal agriculture business. Tolstoy tried to teach us that: As long as there are slaughter houses there will be battlefields. Most of us refuse to heed that let alone understand that.

It's worth noting that, in the experiment, subjects don't fully grasp what they are doing when they shock at a fatal level. They just know that they are told to increase the dial when the answer is wrong. If they were to decide themselves what the voltage should be when the question is wrong, they probably would give more thought into how far the dial should be set.
reply

I kinda think differently when it comes whether humans are good or bad.
For me it's the thoughts that are being created in our brain which in result causes our behavior to represent you. Humans show their behavior based on their experiences that other people, events gave them and also their reality of the world, how they see the world.

reply

Short answer: no.
Humans are not born good or bad, they are just born. Is a bird good? Is a rat bad? What about a cat?
Good or bad is a form of propaganda. Its a way of manipulating peoples actions. Good or bad is a form of law, and law is designed to keep harmony, in an environment where resources are low and demand is high.

Oh. Oh. I'm having flashbacks to my childhood with my older brother. LOL. One childhood is plenty for me. Actually I believe a person can resist the dark forces. It isn't easy, but it is doable. You have to have a strong belief system. A house built on mud can be moved by the wind. The house needs to be on bedrock.

scientists set up planed experiments toget their results. studies need to be random and unexpected but these people dont do that. Living things are born good because how would you explain mother animals protecting their young. they dont kill them at birth unless they are already sick
reply

There's all sorts of ways you can grow up with the brain being unusual. Stuff like autism, mental illnesses, or even just being picky. Because of that, I think it's very possible that some people are predisposed to do bad things. A lot of it has to do with upbringing though.

This question is answered anticlimactic, everyone is good and evil Even Animals, Even in Cartoon the Hero has good and evil tendency or in Animes probably the hero has good and evil tendency
Example: my all time favorite show that Im obsessed Danny phantom he has both

reply

Even when we are born with the good and evil side as it was shown here very young children have the good side as the stronger one but. when they grow all can change because of the environment where they are. And I have everything in mind. From home, to school and peers.

This is an interesting study. Love you Psych2Go folks Never or rarely judge others is the moral I guess. Also, center yourself with Amanda Silvera's guided meditation. Really calms ya down for those times when you're in lizard brain mode or having a rough day.

Human kind is wired to do as much as they can for their personal gain. After two months of birth babys begin to show deception. Without government or law what would happen? Would we stay the same? We forget we are animals and capable of so much violence.
