I feel like I unintentionally did some of these things to a previous girlfriend and that makes me feel awful. But at the same time, I know the context of the relationship is key here: long distance and a very complicated scenario.
If I love bombed, it was legitimately because I was so head over heels for her early on. No ulterior motive, I was just young, dumb, and in love. She was also really oblivious that her closest guy friends were wanting to be more than just friends, they would actively hit on her whether or not they knew she was seeing someone in a long distance relationship. She also had a lot of family issues she actively complained to me about. We would talk it out and I encouraged her to do what felt best by her, but it was hard not to put in my two cents (the seemingly obvious answer that she has to draw a line somewhere, without giving her any ultimatums. If she felt isolated, it's because she started cutting people out of her life left and right as she saw their true colors, or they started flaking the instant they found out she wasn't single anymore. I used to blame myself for that all the time because she got so sad when long time friends in her inner circle turned out to have ulterior motives, but ultimately, it never was my fault and the same thing would have happened if she dated someone else. That's just human nature for people who are attracted to a friend who ends up in a relationship to either quietly fade to ghosting or get visibly butt hurt.
I would say given the relationship, I was concerned about her well being and location, it was long distance and she had a lot of severe health issues. I think given that it was a year and three months, all long distance and over varying degrees of distance because we both moved different places a few times due to school and circumstances, it would make sense that we both tried to rush things like wanting to be closer and potentially moving in together.
There are some things that I'm ashamed of but also glad about because it helped me dodge the bullet of furthering that relationship. Mainly that I let my family, especially my parents, get the best of me when they heard anything about my long distance relationship. Even after I met her in person, they continually doubted everything she was saying to me was true because of their own preconceived notions of it. I was willing to believe what she told me without questioning too much, but their continued badgering me about it coerced me to try and arrange a way for them to meet this girlfriend I met online. That never did pan out because logistics and she was more concerned they somehow hated her instantly (they're just worried for my safety, they're elderly and the internet is scary.
But again, bullet dodged. I have more clarity now knowing that the now ex girlfriend is likely too good to be true. A lot of things she said added up enough for me to believe her at the time, but with everyone's doubting the validity of it all during and after the relationship ended, I no longer care if I ever get closure. Even if everything she told me during the relationship was true, it wouldn't have made a difference. Just wasn't gonna work out.
Anyways, that's a mouthful and I hate telling it, but I guess my main point is that while I may have done a lot of the things the antagonist in this video was guilty of, that doesn't define me as a person. I made mistakes very similar to these, but never with ill intent to manipulate. And even if someone does these things, that might just be how they are before learning their shortcomings to be less of a red flag partner in the future. To be clear, abuse is downright unjustifiable, but the lesser extremes can be corrected once the person is made aware and boundaries are set.

Looking back on my last relationship, I am now clearly seeing the seriously toxic behaviours of my partner showed when it came to love bombing. He managed to manipulate me into believing that he loved me and was serious about me without even saying the words, I love you.
He started planning our future together on the second date, started making promises about moving in together within the first few weeks of dating and started saying and doing everything that would have naturally translated into love or that he was serious about me. I was skeptical at first but I gradually grew feelings for him as I really liked his personality for the most part and the way he treated me as though he cherished me made me feel so valued by him. Eventually after three months of him telling me things like he was obsessed with me and wanted to live with me that I brought out the best in him and that I was precious to him, I made the mistake of saying I love you to him, realising instantly that it was probably too soon to say such things, but also feeling in that moment that he was saying and doing all the things that would naturally translate into these words so it just made sense for me to say it back because that is how he was expressing himself to me in other ways. But when I said it, he couldn't say it back, it was like suddenly he was backtracking despite all he had said and done with me. The next week he went out with a group of our friends at the bar and made out with my best friend then told me that he didn't want to be with me anymore. Looking back I can honestly say he is possibly one of the most disgusting manipulators I have ever met. He knew exactly what he was doing but he had no concept of communicating the right message to me.

Really wish I saw this video when I was in my relationship, damn- I used to be with someone who did all of these signs and what do you know, my first relationship ended up terribly.
I just thought the love bombing was just excitement, but I'll be honest, I did get put off the fact that my previous partner wanted to already marry me a week within the start.
Prior to our relationship, they convinced my friends were bad influences on me when in reality they did barely anything bad and told me I'm too good for them and ended up with me cutting them out (I got back with these people after I left this person, but it severely destroyed my friendships with them) and they even made me feel bad for hanging out with anyone who wasn't them in ANY way. My former partner told me this all stems from severe trauma and were scared that any single interaction I'd have in the slightest would mean me replacing them as they have gone through things correlating to abandonment, but it got to the point where I took sacrificies for them overboard to where it deteroiated myself mentally. I told them they should get therapy but they said they couldn't afford it, yet they would always buy expensive stuff for me such as a console I didn't even need, rather to save up.
I know trauma is never someone's fault, but sadly I had to learn that it doesn't excuse abusive and possessive behavior the hard way.

yeah this list is a little weak. Love bombing is bad IF ungenuine AND followed by discard. I technically love bombed my last really close friend but I maintained it throughout the relationship because I genuinely did love them. Coercion is a good flag to watch for. Hyper sensitivity can give pause, becomes bad if willful, hurtful, and maintaining it. Disliking friends and family, to some extent is 100% fine. I wouldn't want a partner to love my mother. I didn't like my last close friends parents for their abusive tendencies. I didn't like their friends for the enabling of toxic behaviors.
Rushing into commitment is also suspect. Yes, if it's marry me within a month, that is suspect. However there's nothing wrong with wanting to date within a month. There's nothing wrong with moving in together somewhat early. These things can be done healthily.
The reason I write this is because these lists have very real power, and people use these lists to justify or encourage behavior, and at times can be harmful. I know my latest close friend, one that actually was an abusive person, would've abused me anyway, but they used lines like you loved me too quickly to justify their abuse.

1. Too good to be true including them pretending to be in love at first sight. 2. Showing increasing coersive and controlling patterns of behavior after they become aware that we are growing fond of them leaving us feel like we are starting to get treated like their pavlov's dog lab animal 'pet'. 3. Hypersensitive during more and more topics of conversation. 4. Not being accepting of differences in family background or of our other friends. Like rejecting the friend who keeps on insisting they need to wear a mask in public after public mandates in the nation have ended because of what the World Health Organization is continuing to recommend. 5. Pressuring to be invited to holiday dinners where they can meet our family members while they are asking for a commitment before we can get to know them well.

I now realize I've been love bombing, as well as subtle coercion, and rushing into commitment. My feelings for her are too strong, I need to back off - We are our own persons with our own lives. I'll focus more on myself instead of totally focusing on her. I WILL back off, I don't want to be a red flag at all. I truly just love her a lot, which is why I must start to back off, I shouldn't be controlling at all - because I love her, I understand. Thank you for your videos! I'm making sure I'm not inconsiderate towards her. I have to improve and improve - your videos have made me realized I'm not ready to be in a relationship at all because of how I've been acting. We'll communicate about everything once the time comes. I don't want our rs to go down the wrong path.

So here is the problem I'm having, I'm a pretty self sufficient guy and I tend to do very well in my own company, I also live in the moment and tend to forget about people and things not in my immidiate vacinity. Even when I meet potential dating partners I tend to be cautious.
However, as soon as I decide that they might be worth persueing in a romantic way, I tend to commit fully. I make myself vulnerable, I express my feelings and yes, I tend to shower them with love. This all comes from a genuine place of caring and I have never been abusive in the slightest, I am a very patient person, fiercly loyal and protective of those I care about, the problem is this can be interpreted in the same way as point 1 and 5.

For anyone who's experiencing someone who feels this way, it doesn't mean things are unsalvageable either. You're just dealing with a puppy that's been hurt so much it'd rather bite people than be around them. Think about the environment they've been in, and if it's beyond you to help them find the root cause of their pain and replace the emotions with logic until it no longer influences their decisions, then it's something you should refer them to a professional or paraprofessional over.
that said, it's important to recognize these behaviors and hold your partner accountable for them. Love is not comfort, nor enabling toxic behaviors, it's about growing together.

I have to talk about how confusing my last relationship was with love bombing, because we worked together for some months (then I left and we kept texting) before we got together, so when he was crying saying how much he loved me I believed it. Deep inside I knew he wasn't right for me. Then realized that he was just trying to get with someone. Texting multiple women trying to get some. When we parted ways, not a month after we broke up, he already got into and lost another relationship. And then I got a call from this woman asking about him texting me he wanted to see me, when he already made plans with her. She said he told her he loved her

My current lover and I have been toguether for 6 years now and still going strong! But Ive being guilty of telling her her I love her after less than a month, she was terrified (I learnt later she never had any serious relationship before. So I explained that, I cant really affirm that, we dont really know eachother. I was sorry to scare her, and I was really looking forward to our next date.
But maaaan, when you meet someone dat fill all your boxes, you fall in love quickly haha or is it just me?
I also dont like all her friends but hey, cant like everyone. Still I would never dare to tell her not to see them.

I think getting information like where you're going to or who you're w/ is not a bad thing. It shouldn't be considered as a manipulation. Our partners just wanted to know things that may caused dangers to us or things that can ruined relationship by being w/ the people they doesn't know or going to any places w/o telling them. Actually we shouldn't wait for them to ask, we'll be the one to let them know first. I learned my lessons bec I didn't realized my bf b4 that he felt neglected that I went any places & did things whatever I wanted. It's like disrespecting him as if he doesn't exist.

Advice for POTENTIAL abusers would be niceplease? Id rather not become my father, its my biggest fear in life and Im willing to live and die alone to prevent the abuse I witnessed growing upabuse that my younger brothers have normalized and sided with my father during the beginning of the divorce. Stay away from narcissists, everyonedont let your kids grow up with that. I need to find a way to bury the hatchet with my old man before he kicks the bucketbut I dont know where to start since, wellanyone who knows anything about these people knows how they are.

Love bombing is a loaded one especially when you talk about sinister. If it's a mutual relationship even if it's relatively short in time pace, but it's such an emotionally connected and deep connection that you both feel, where it's a matter of both of your souls already ahead of you together, but just waiting for your verbal and physical selves to catch up. a disaster or a serious event that happens prematurely makes sense for one party to confess love, even if there was a mutual agreement - and even mutual admission or implication - that it was love.

It makes me sad that my mother went through this with my father, who is a narcissist, for so many years. On top of that she had to keep me and my brother safe and away from the abuse to not scare us. When we moved to our grandmas house in a different state, my mom had to work all day unlike when she was promised enough money from my grandma when we moved. It was during that time when my dad started to shift the abuse to us. When my mom found out, she decided enough was enough and moved us away

But why? What are the reasons a person does this? (When its intentional) my ex did all the above and morphed into the person he knew I wanted. He didnt have to fake himself. I wouldve accepted him for him. Now Im the one struggling because hes saying Im the one thats changed and I know for damn sure I was up front about myself. I had to leave my biggest love prior to him, so before I started seeing him, I was healthier. Now I feel like I took three steps back. Why?

There's this guy, he's slightly younger than me and i suspect he's had a crush on me ever since we were kids (we're neighbours. On the third date he told me he loved me and I don't know what to think of it. I really like him but he's rushing into this and to me this is a huge red flag because he doesn't actually know me. I feel like he has this idealised concept of me in his brain that is actually far from who I am as a person.

my girlfriend started saying things in the Love bombing section WAY before we started dating, and she introduced me to her parents way before we started dating. and has said I love you after just like a week of actually dating. And after listening to the final part I actually got really happy I don't feel ready at all for relationships but I don't know how to tell her and I just would rather spend my time fixing myself
reply

Honestly, i didnt even know that what i was doing is a red flag. I genuinely dont mean any harm, but, i do what was described in the beginning of a relationship as love bombing, like, i just want whoever im with to know how amazing they are and just how perfect they are, i dont want them to feel insecure and want them to just feel amazing, so like, do i stop? because i dont want it to coem off badly

Like you start to experience orgasmic levels of psych2go. Imagine the best orgasm you've ever had and then multiply it by a thousand.
You realize that caring about anything at all is completely idiotic.
From the highest perspective if you realize that everything is love then that's it. Anything that happens is absolute love and nothing could be better. Everything is absolutely perfect.

My ex did most of these i did do love bombing but i truly meant what I said and i didn't intent any alt motives by it. She presented her family, friends really soon then pressured me into asking her to be my gf and then when i got seriously invested she backed out slowly getting more distant and then sabotaging any chance at us doing things together until finally she ended the relationship
reply

I wish i saw this earlier in my past relationship but i feel like even if i did i was so blinded and scared to do anything. He admitted recently its bc i was his favorite person and bc he has bpd. But im tired of him always putting the blame on that and not taking accountability. Either way, it doesnt really matter now. All i can do is heal from the abuse now.

This video came out one month before I got back in contact with someone and started a relationship with them and if only I had actually watched this when it came out.
The person I ended up with displayed 3 or 4 of the flags you described and I ended up moving across the country with them really quickly only for everything to fall apart a few months later.

reply

So on point. Just came out of the discard, got hovered multiple times, then got the evidence I needed on them to break free. They are still trying to hover, but I set my boundaries and have not let them back in. Wish I would have found this video before going through all of the manipulation, lies, deceit and gas lighting
reply

The images are so gender biased. Although men are more likely to be physically abusive due to the fact that they tens to be bigger than women, Women are also abusive in many ways and much more sinister. All these redflags apply to women too. They can ruin another person's life just as a man can.
reply

Ha! I caught the love bombing! Meet a woman on a dating app. I think either the first day or second day she admitted to loving me, kept calling handsome, then asked me for money lol. Broke it off after less than a week. I have them the benefit of the doubt when they said they loved me lol.
