I've had severe depression from the time I was 3 years old, and, at 21- almost 22, I'm just starting to finally see a light. maybe. The only reason I know it was from the time I was three years old is because my innocent eyes in the three year old pictures shifted to something honestly really creepy and concerning in the four year old and five year old pictures- all the way up to present day. I honestly don't know what it's like to enjoy life at all, or how to feel pleasure. I'm pretty sure I have a rather severe case of anhedonia, as well as ptsd, and a couple other things, all caused from a. different? - disorder or mental illness that I was born with. I'm trying to figure out how to have motivation, feel pleasure for things, and at some point, have some sort of friendship.
It. uh. I don't know how. No one has really been able to tell me either. Kinda hard to explain an ability that just comes naturally I guess. I mean, how do you tell someone who hasn't experienced it what pleasure feels like? How do you explain motivation to someone who has never been motivated, and just habitual? How do you explain a meaningful friendship to someone who doesn't understand the idea of companionship and love or what it actually feels like?
I know what it's supposed to look like from watching others and the stuff I watch. I can recreate what it's supposed to look like. But I don't really feel it. I can seem motivated when I'm asked to do something. that's it. I don't do anything for pleasure. I don't know what it feels like or what makes people do what they do. I want to. I want to be a part of this life. But it seems that life didn't want me.
I'm healing. slowly but surely. Hopefully Whatever part of my dopamine receptors will be fixed, and I can start experiencing what everyone else gets to for free. I'm just. I don't get to remember or re-experience my childhood. that's uh. that's gone. Almost 22. I may be able to function for the first time. when I turn 22.

Okay so yeah, after my trauma I went through like, 8 years of chronic depression. The suckiest part was this was during my formative years. this AND bouts of major depression. I was just MISERABLE for most of those years, and then severely depressed for weeks at a time. Luckily, I have been able to survive this, and at the end of those 8 years, I truly felt happy for a time, then depressed then recently happy again for the longest period in my life since my trauma. Sure, I'm still depressed, but it's nowhere near as severe as it ever has been. I rarely feel bad for no reason if ever anymore (only once in the past two months and only breifly) and my last major depressive episode was months ago, and only lasted a day or two. I'm not as emotionally capable as I'd like to be(sometimes it's hard to feel, as my subconscious hides away) but I'm healing, and genuinely optimistic.

I was diagnosed with depression a week ago though the signs have been there for around two-three years now. It's hard to live with it; I stopped doing my hobbies, I haven't hung out with friends on free time for two years, and I feel very little happiness for things I'd normally lose sleep in excitement for, like a trip abroad my family is planning. It's kinda like my default emotion is sadness that can be happiness for short periods of time, but not long. I feel guilty because my friend tries to help but I don't know how she could help, because I can't trust her. It feels like people just ignore it. Oh you're depressed? Well [name] is too! You could be friends! They look over the whole point of depression. Not wanting to be around anyone. I have emotional outbursts often and I am afriad of harming my relatives.
Ps. I relate to Shane a lot.

hey there, had depression since ten years now. Now after finally leaving my bubble, getting happines and thinking about stuff that arent my emotions or sociophobia, I feel very nauseous, like since two months now, since now im not ruminating but feelling bad in general without emotions. Still dont know if its something different, but suprisingly it feels better when I have anxiety attacks (wich I now thankfully dont have in daily intervalls, but monthly, so i guess its something because of that. DONT HIDE DEPRESSION, because at some point you might not find back if you allow noone to help.

I decided to watch this on a whim, and I've known I've had depression for a while now, just seemingly mild and I have been able to handle it alright. Honestly, I figured I had some form of chronic depression.
I can't remember when I started feeling like this, it feels as though this is the default emotion for everyone even though I know that's not the case, it's so hard for me to do the simplest of things without being extremely drained and tired. I do believe that I have chronic depression.

My mom has been dead now for a while but this does make more sense as to the way my mom was in life. Especially when meds would only work for like 3 months then doctors would have to change her meds again this was common for her to be put on a different set of meds every 3 months. Cuz they were only effective for 3 months then stop working again. But it also helps me understand how my mom's depression effected every one around her including me. She always did have a dark aura about her.

I suffered from chronic depression for about 12 years, it wasnt until last year when I finally got diagnosed and got the medication I needed. It really is strange though, i truly cant recall when my depression first began despite knowing why, it feels like its always been a part of my life. Im glad that part of my life is over though and Im thankful you are spreading awareness for this.

I'm not in chronic yet but I can feel myself going this way. I always try to make it 'better' by myself once in awhile without any professional help so it's not consistent and honestly it didn't work out at all. But I can only do this way.
Thanks for the video for making us more aware with our patterns and for letting us know that we are not alone in this one.

I suffer from chronic pay-the-bills-ition. There is no more joy for me in this life. I work a dead end job I hate making barely enough money to survive, I get back home too tired to do anything and too bored and sad to sleep, I sleep late, I wake up tired af. I wouldn't mind hearing some bad news from a doctor.

It's just weird for me, because I just realized that I've been depressed for a little bit over a decade, and I'm not even 20 years old.
It's hard to explain when it started, but I definitely can remember when my elementary school teachers said that they knew there was something really wrong with me

Psilocybin containing mushrooms saved my life. The drastically reduced my benzodiazepine withdrawal allowing me to quite illicit pill addiction after three years of heavy daily use before it would had became medically dangerous to quit. It has also helped me survive depression.

Just realized the video is set in stardew valley. The the world layout seems like stardew valley (kitchen) the main depressed character in the video is Shane and the doctor close to the end is Harvey, the town doctor. Made me feel a little bit happy through this ocean of depression

I've been dealing with depression for around 10 years now. Gone through really bad spots but with help of medication and changes in my life I feel overall better though there's still bad days. My doctor believes it's hereditary in my case unfortunately

I'm pretty sure I have all of these, but I'm scared to tell my mom due to fear. I'm not good in serious or emotional situations. I usually start freaking out and crying unless it's over text where I have time to think about it.

I'm diagnosed with recurrent moderate major depressive disorder however many of these symptoms in this video are relatable. Tbh it's been awhile since my MDD has been in remission. I can remember the last time I felt okay or normal.

I was diagnosed with severe chronic depression at 18 and it has no sign of going away. I'm 24 now, even after treatment it won't let up. But that doesn't mean it wouldn't help anyone else.

the main reason i screamed out of excitement for this is
1. I havent watched these in forever and NEED these
2. IS THAT THE BELOVED SHANE FROM STARDEW VALLEY ON THE THUMBNAIL?

I always have that one thought wondering if people know that I'am depressed, or just really exhusted. But if somone does ask (which is very rare btw) I just tell them I'm tired.

ok so i always think its going to be a bad day and i do sometimes have a depressive personality so does that mean i have chronic depression? or only if we have all?

Having any symptoms is an alert to seek service, I'm very thankful, as I have in the past. I'm looking to better communication that I'm doing better or worse today.
