Are you guilty of some of these habits that may be hurting not only your mental health but also your physical brain? It's important to be aware of these habits because damaged brain tissue makes you more susceptible to developing neurological diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer s Disease that stem from cognitive decline. Do you relate to any of these 9 bad habits that damage your brain? If it's not on the list, list the habits in the comment below! I love listen to music using my headphones but aside from it being damaging, music just sounds bad if turned too loud because all one can hear really is noise rather than instruments and lyrics.
That is my experience anyway.
As for social isolation and too much screen time. well. being an introvert with tech as a hobby once more seem not to help.

I must disagree, intensely, with social isolation being something habitually damaging. Of course, there is loneliness. But that is not damaging. I am doing tremendously better, in my social isolation, than any time I when I was social. I am self-reliant, truly independent, very resourceful, have far more endurance, strength, and physical fitness, am down to my clinically ideal weight, am constantly studying to be able to do everything myself because I depend on nobody, and am far more knowledgeable because of the constant studies. I could have accomplished none of this if I had continued to waste my time being social. Being social is nothing but worthless drama, a drain on time, people being cruel to each other, evil mockery if someone does something out of the status quo, and it dumbs our independent thoughts down to near nothing. I tired of how cruel people were with me and isolated. It as the best thing I ever did. Loneliness does nothing negative to us. Being social does a tremendous amount of damage to humans. It is time to forget the indoctrination that humans must be social to accomplish success, health, independence, safety, and a feeling of self worth. If anything, being social accomplishes the exact opposite.

Any time i hear someone say too much screentime is bad for you i point out that social isolation and a complete lack of any support structure or methods of relieving stress is worse for you and if the computer or phone is your only way to svoid other problems, screentime is doing less harm than a lack of it.
Edit: Otherwise i agree with everything else on this list. I have many of these issues. But i refuse to accept that screentime can possibly be unhealthy when it is your only method of connecting with the outside world.
And don't say Just get irl friends or anything like that as though it were that simple or easy. If I hadn't already tried and failed everything irl do you think I'd reaort to relying exclusively on online connections?

I don't know about the skipping breakfast one. Intermittent fasting has shown some tremendously good benefits and you have to skip breakfast to do it. Also, if skipping breakfast causes nutritional deficiency, then maybe you just have nutritional deficiency in the first place especially with the junk that's American breakfast.
The whole 3 meals a day thing isn't really based on any science. It's a cultural thing and not eating for extended periods of time, sometimes for days, is natural for humans as for most of our history, we don't eat 3 times a day.
There are people that fasted for 3 days, some over a week (with medical supervision. The longest was for a whole year. Personally, I did a 1. 5 day fast (with prep) and it was okay.

Stop ragging on Boxabl. They really saved my ass that one time I was having guests over and all my spare guests rooms and the guest houses where filled in my megamansion super compound. Luckily, I could fit 4 of these in my yard for just a meager 1 million(including construction and disassembly. I would have have been humiliated if I had to resort to having my guests stay at my spare mansions down the street. I really saved face thanks to Boxabl. I even decided to set up a permanent unit for my security and staff so I could utilize my mansions integrated staff dungeon better and renovate their disgusting dry wall den into a second indoor pool(I really needed a bigger one.

hehe's in getting a high score on this
Hey, Being introverted and night owl is also the reason why
1. I stay in the dark too much (night owl)
2. I see news on my news feed all the time (Im in front of my PC all the time cause thats where my work is)
3. too much screen time (reason for #2)
4. consuming too much sugar (Okay, I'm gonna work on this one)
5. Skipping breakfast (My class starts in the afternoon, I sleep until noon)
6. Poor sleeping habits (I'm more active in the night QAQ and I dont have any task to do at morning, its afternoon and night time)

Tip for people who like the dark: get a before sleeping routine to avoid becoming sleep deprived. It may go from excercising a little, to drinking a glass of milk. The routine is sacred, you have to respect it everyday and not use mobile dispositives once it starts until the next day unless it s an emergency.
Another tip: Sleep everyday at the same hour. As I said in the previous tip, you have to respect it everyday and not use mobile dispositives once your picked hour starts until the next day unless there s an emergency.
If possible both.

Is it _actually_ so bad to spend a lot of time in front of a screen? :o
Because I know that that is what was always said, especially when I was a kid. but I thought that it turned out to not be so bad after all
Could you tell us what about a high dose of screen time is bad?
One of the things that I've heard is the distance for your eyes on what you focus on, that a screen is usually too nearby & but that looking away every now and then would help there: )

I don t agree with the morning eating. For example, middle aged women should fast 16+ hours and have an 8ish hour eating window. Fasting is good for mental and physical health in so many ways. My mind has been much clearer by skipping breakfast and lunch, and my health overall has improved drastically by fasting with intent. So perhaps that one isn t for all: )

I m quite a bit of a night owl, but I use a reading light for late-night browsing, and take some blue light vitamins. I do have something sweet, like a Hershey s triple chocolate cake, and then brush. I always have my pancakes first thing in the morning, and I consume a lot of content I enjoy, which makes me feel good. So far, my brain is fine!

To be fair, dark is calming and relaxing, 90% of news is negative, loud music makes me happy and dance, socializing and people absolutely suck, screen time gives me tv and porn, sugar is delicious, breakfast is for people who wake up before 11am, I like being lazy, sleep is for the weak.
My brain hurt: (

reply

Pretty sure skipping breakfast does actually do the opposite. It is beneficial to brain health for most people. I also found nothing about that in your sources, but I might be blind. There is however a lot of research about fasting nowadays which claims the opposite of what you claim.

These are all very relatable stuffs
All points made here are very true to me in all aspects. As someone with difficulty connecting with others due to a history with destructive habits, this hits home hard. And it can be very difficult to solve even with assistance.

reply

Ignore the skipping breakfast part, it can actually have a positive impact on your brain if you do it right, just make sure to research intermittent fasting and maybe consult your doctor first, also, it's not recommended for kids. But it's usually beneficial.

how to instantly fix stress:
1: get and play warframe. it's free right now.
2: complete alot of quests until you get Howl of the Kubrow.
3: profit because after Howl of the Kubrow you have a cool fuzzy friend in Warframe!
4: V I B E

reply

Please stop the false information. Skipping breakfast isn't a bad thing. Allowing time for your body to FAST is a good thing and has been backed up by science to promote healing of pretty much everything. So please skip breakfast whenever you can.

Do you relate to any of these Habits?
Umm. I'mma have to go with Yes for 500 Psych2Go.
at least 7 of the ones I can recall saying, Ooh. ooh that me. No wonder I have so many issues remembering a week ago, never mind last night.

What if you want to spend more time around people, but you're an introvert with terrible social anxiety who's also a covert narcissist that only knows how to relate to others through manipulation? Asking for someone who's totally not me at all.
reply
