If People Say You Are OVERREACTING, Watch This

We've noticed that many of you resonated with our previous video discussing toxic friendships and the concept of gaslighting. It's heartwarming to see the engagement and support from our community on such vital topics. Today, we're here with a new video specifically for those who can relate to the experience of having your emotions invalidated and downplayed. We want you to know that your feelings truly matter, and that's why we've created this video. We hope this video provides you with the comfort and reassurance you needed. I wish I was just told I was overreacting. When I was still preteen I was more expressive, but sibling arguments led to some overreacting. Instead my parents were stunned and said you aren't well in the head or something like that - I try to block these things so I don't remember as well

I was in special ed for Autism for all of K12 school and my SE teacher in high school always told me things like you re overreacting. She always presented herself as someone whom you could talk to if you were going through it and also said that you could go to her classroom for a break if you were overwhelmed. But I saw her true colors. Whenever I had a problem and would cry, she would bark at me and say stop crying, this is a small problem, or you re making this a bigger deal than it is. And she would always ask me things when I did have a problem like if anyone was hurt or in the hospital. There was one time even when I was on my commute to school and one of my tires fell off on my way there. It was a very traumatizing experience, one that you would think this teacher would actually understand and think that it was appropriate to cry after, but she still diminished it. But the worst part about this whole situation was that if I tried venting about how awful she was being to me to anyone else, they would say no, she wouldn t do that, she s too nice, and they would defend her when she wasn t worth defending. This woman seemed to think she was a goddess or something.

Is my ASD brain just not getting the point or is it a thin line sometimes?
Must admit I feel super triggered hearing those explanations because those are almost the exact same words my persons in mind said when they threw their temper tantrums. Yelling, spitting, cursing, threatening people when they dared to not obey or when it was just stressful. (Or literally _nothing_ sometimes) But then they had some temperament.
Telling folks what they presumably think, and calling them liars when they said something else. But they've been empathic.
When called out on their behaviour and rhetorically cornered, usually in defense, they cried wolf, would be lambasted, but they've been just a little more emotional.
Seldom have I seen people being so cruel and winey at the same time. Feels dehinged, tbh.
Actually until today I don't get along with people being both offender and victim, claiming empathy while being aggressive.
But then again it could just be my ASD brain.

While it is important to express your emotions, there are times where overreacting is not a good thing to do. Some people overreact to things that are not justified to have an overreaction. People who have toxic behaviors are one example. This is was a good video to validate feelings of people but there definitely needs to be a video that states a distinction when it comes to overreacting. When is it appropriate to overreact? Overreacting can be a potential toxic trait. If there is no distinction, people can use overreacting as an excuse of Oh, I'm trying to express my emotions honestly. You're telling me that I'm overreacting? I have the right to express my emotions. Even toxic people can turn their overreactions against you and make their overreactions are in the right.

I ve always limited myself from showing emotions for a long time. But after speaking with a musician, that I truly idolize, I took some things to heart that he said. Maybe the struggles are part of the creation process. And if there was no angst, Then there would be no beauty. We have to have one to find the other. People will limit us from showing emotions, people will dictate us and tell us not to show emotion. But, what if showing emotion is OK? I ve always had this feeling that I need to not show emotion as a way to prove that I m strong. But my music, therapist, and everyone else around me has told me that the emotionally mature ones do show emotion, and that is them being strong. If I didn t show emotion, then how would my music come from my heart?

A long time ago, the old me, would always feel ashamed and embarrassed about how he overreacts and expresses his feelings and emotions. I feel everything very deeply, every feeling and emotion, on a deeper level. I am an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and I always find the need to express all of my feelings and emotions very openly. Because if I don t, I feel as if like there s something inside of me that wants to crawl out and rip out from my skin and bones until it s released. And so, ever since I ve come to terms with myself, the now me is never ashamed nor embarrassed about how he expresses his feelings and emotions. I am unapologetic about them and I am proud, to say the least.

What a coincidence! Someone did this very recently. But I m very glad O have this video and someone else to say otherwise.
What I d say about my experience is that, don t ask someone what their dream is if you have the intent of undermining them. It was a family member for me, and I thought it was okay to say my dream.
Like, what s the point of asking someone their dream? Especially if you have some intent to undermine them. It s like nice people say, if you have nothing nice to say, don t say it. I never ask people their dream with even the slightest intent to undermine them.

great video, but still, I do believe there are certain circumstances and context where indeed, people do overreact (ie a girl I tried to date said that I was selfish because it took me several dates to ask her to put her music in my car instead of just mine, and that was a narcissist sign)

My mom and sisters told me this so much when I was younger, even when my reaction was appropriate and someone else was wronging me without facing consequences. I hate that feeling so much for so many years. Even just seeing that word is making me clench my fist and have PTSD.

this video can lead wrong ideas to wrong people it tells people who overreact and blow up over the little things that it s fine. it is not. its giving them the victim mindset. if multiple people tell you you re overreacting, you re overreacting. dont sugarcoat it.

I've been over worrying about the coolant in my car even though it was just an air pocket I think as the level in the reservoir is now staying back where it should, I just can't help but keep going back and checking as I have OCD.

I know that my emotions are sign of empathy or authenticity, but If my mind starts to downgrade myself, tell myself that I am worth nothing and overall spiral down into more self degrading, I think it might be a problem.

I experienced this unnecessary criticism too much to the point I unconsciously shut down and too closed off to the others around me and started to question and criticize myself and my sensitivity. that's so sick.

Overreactions are also a genuine problem tho.
3: 30-More often overreaction causes a proper dialogue to cease entirely, or turn into an irrational outburst, neither being good things do to.

Sometimes anxiety and depression muddies how I view my feelings, so hopefully this will help me be happy because of my emotions and not the emotions my mental illness gives me

I've always been different from the rest, I used to hate being different but I slowly learned to love my difference from everyone else.
